4. DESCRIPTION
Technical Field of the Invention
[0001] The present invention generally relates to the field of tool assemblies. More particularly the present invention relates to a multi-purpose tool with integrated adapters, position-retainers, locking system and a mechanism to open, close and hold a tool like nose pliers at a desired position.
Background of the Invention
[0002] Generally tools are used for several purposes including scraping, screwing, sawing, hammering, and the tools are also used to cut the electrical wires, paper, wood products, metal products and the like. The conventional multi-tool adapters/holders used for accommodating the multiple tools demand more space and the size of the conventional tool adapters and hence becomes an uncomfortable feature. For example: screw driver. The tool adapter/holder doesn't have the facility to hold tools other than screw driver.
[0003] Typically, Army personnel and other skilled individuals require several tools such as pliers, wire cutters, shears, grippers and clippers for multiple purposes. The combat soldiers typically carry knives or bayonets for use in hand-to-hand combat. Generally the knives are usually carried in a sheath that hangs from the belt or that is worn around the leg so that the knife is readily accessible. The knife is used for various purposes rather clumsily hence creates the need for a multi-purpose kit.
[0004] Furthermore the conventional multi-purpose tool adapters/holders fail when more load is applied and the life of the tool is also reduced. The conventional multipurpose tool adapter/holder lacks a capacity to hold the various types of tools rigidly and doesn't accommodate all sorts of tool.
[0005] Hence there exists a need for a multi-purpose tool with integrated adapters, position-retainers, locking system and a mechanism to open, close and stop a tool like nose pliers at a desired position.

Multiple perforations positioned on a surface of the cylindrical piece 208 at an angle of 90 degrees at a predetermined distance. The washer 204 is inserted between the body parts 202a and 202b and the tool adapter 206. The sliding piece 210 is inserted into the cylindrical piece 208 along with the compression spring 216. The tool adapter 206 comprising multiple small grooves along with the balls 212 is assembled to the cylindrical piece 208 including perforations on the surface. The locking device 214 is guided into the cylindrical piece 208 over the body part 202a to which the locking device 214 is attached by a means. This assembly prevents a rotation of the cylindrical piece 208. The protrusion of the sliding piece 210 comes out from the locking device 214 for pushing.
[0053] In accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the protrusion of the sliding piece 210 is pressed and the pressure is applied on the compression spring 216 then the sliding piece 210 slides inside the cylindrical piece 208 in a forward direction. The balls 212 are rigidly placed between the slot provided on the tool adapter 206 and sliding piece 210 slides inside the cylindrical piece 208. The balls 212 slides inside the cylindrical piece 208 and then the tool adapter 206 becomes free to rotate.
[0054] According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, on releasing the compression on the sliding piece 210, the sliding piece 210 comes back to the original position by the force provided by the compression spring 216. The compression spring 216 pushes the balls 212 to the original position and locks the tool adapter 206 when the tool adapter 206 is in the right position that is at an interval of 90 degrees from closed position.

[0056] In accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a slot is provided on one end of both the pliers in the nose plier assembly 306 for passage of the slotted piece 308 through the slot. The washers 304a and 304b comprising the slot is positioned on both sides of the nose plier through the slotted piece 308. The washers 304a and 304b comprises protrusions at one end. The body parts 302a and 302b are guided through the cylindrical surface of the slotted piece 308 on both sides. The locking parts 310a and 310b are screwed to the slotted piece 308 above the body parts 302a and 302b.
[0057] In accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the body parts 302a and 302b are free to rotate along the slotted piece 308. A provision is provided to allow the body parts 302a and 302b and the washers 304a and 304b come together at specified point when the nose plier is closed.
[0058] According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the body parts 302a and 302b are rotated to open and operate the nose plier. The body parts 302a and 302b rotate along the slotted piece 308 and come to the other side where the body parts 302a and 302b collides with the washers 304a and 304b and then gets stopped. The change in protrusion angles provided on the washers 304a and 304b acts as a stopper for the rotation of the body parts 302a 302b at different directions as per the requirement. The operating angle of the nose plier is changed by a change in the washers 304a and 304b.
