“Multiple Land Use Sun Tracking Structure For Accommodating Solar Panels”

Abstract: The invention provides a multi-land use solar tracking structure for accommodating solar panels. The solar tracking structure (300) includes solar panel and frame assembly (305), solar tracking part (304), gear train assembly (301), central pillar (302), base support (303) and base plate (306). The presence of central pillar and base support allows the solar panel to rise high enough that the land beneath the solar panels can be used for different purposes. Further, this system also made possible the power generation near to the load centre. The use of solar tracking structure enhances the total land yield and is scalable for MW sized power plants. Hence, the multi-land use sun tracking structure for accommodating solar panels provides a new way of installing solar panels for photovoltaic power plants.

Specification

TECHNICAL FIELD
The invention provides a multi-land use solar tracking structure for accommodating solar panels. The sun tracking structure (300) includes solar panel and frame assembly (305), solar tracking part (304), gear train assembly (301), central pillar (302), base support (303) and base plate (306).

According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the multi-land use solar tracking structure (300) includes a solar panel and frame assembly (305) made up of photovoltaic cells that absorb sunlight, generate direct current (DC) energy and convert the generated energy into the usable form; preferably into alternating current (AC) with the help of inverter technology. The solar tracking part (304) positions the solar panel and frame assembly (305) at an angle relative to the sun in such a way that solar panels are perpendicular to the sun’s rays. The solar tracking part (304) is attached to the gear train assembly (301) which provides the smooth transmission of rotation from one gear to another without slipping. The gear train assembly (301), solar tracking part (304) and solar panel and assembly (305) are supported on a central pillar (302) that has a height of atleast 12 feet. The central pillar (302) is supported, kept erect and in position with the help of base plate (306).

The said gear train assembly (301) preferably includes two or more gears mounted on a frame in an arrangement such that the teeth of the gears engage.

The said central pillar (302) is made up of material that is stable and is able to support the solar panel and assembly (305), gear train assembly (301) and solar tracking part (304). Preferably, the material is resistant to water and stable in different weather conditions. In an embodiment of the present invention, the material used for making the central pillar (302) is a metal or a combination of metals.

The said gear train assembly (301) and central pillar (302) allows the solar panel assembly (305) to rise high enough such that the land beneath the solar panels can be used for different purposes such as agriculture, highways etc.

Further, this arrangement of multi-land use sun tracking structure for solar panels makes possible the power generation near to the load centres.

Further, the use of the above mentioned sun tracking system enhances the total land yield as the total yield is the sum of solar power production and the other use of land such as agriculture etc.

Furthermore, the present design of the sun tracking system is scalable for MW sized power plants and hence provides a new way of installing solar panels for photovoltaic power plants.
