NAIL-FILE MAKING MACHINE AND ITS APPLICATION IN THE
MANUFACTURING OF NAIL CUTTER/CLIPPER
Technical field of the invention:
The present invention is generally related to an automatic process of preparing
nail-file, particularly the pattern of uniform threading/teeth on one surface of the
said nail-file, by the application of a specialized nail-file making machine for the
purpose. Said nail-file is an important component of the nail cutter/clipper and
therefore is suitably incorporated alongwith other components of said nail
cutter/clipper.
Background of the invention:
Nail cutters are usually made of steel but can also be made of plastic and
aluminum. Two common varieties are the pliers and the compound lever type. All
are common household objects. Most nail cutters usually come with another tool
attached, which is used to clean the dirt out of nails. A nail trimmer often has a
miniature file fixed to it to allow rough edges of nails to be manicured. A nail file
allows for removal of any excess nail that is jagged or has been missed. Nail
cutters occasionally come with a pocket knife or a nail catcher. The nail trimmer
consists of a head which may be concave or convex. The cutting head may be
manufactured to be parallel or perpendicular to the principal axis of the cutter.
2
There are nail files being used in nail cutters, creation of teeth profile of said nail
file is always a matter of challenge to the concerned industry, as the teeth profile
making process always be simple, preferably automatic, very fast and as said
teeth profile of the nail cutter should be long-lasting and capable of smooth
effective service during manicure.
Therefore, the object of the present invention is to obviate any conventional
drawback associated with the production of such proposed nail file, particularly
relating to creation of the teeth profile of said nail file.
Main object of the present invention is to propose a process of nail file making by
using automatic teeth profile creating machine.
Another object of the present invention is to propose a machine for creating teeth
profile of the nail file in automation.
Another object of the present invention is to propose the facility of loading of
multiple work-pieces of nail file to the teeth profile creating machine and their
automatic processing thereof.
Another object of the present invention is to propose integration of the load
holding box with the slider ramp in such a manner that the work pieces of nail file,
stacked in said box, mechanically move towards the position created on said
ramp for receiving hammer's action.
3
Another object of the present invention is to propose customization and
controlling of the functions of the hydraulic/mechanical hammer installation, the
slider ramp and role of the load holder box towards carrying out continuous
operations in synergy, so that easy and quickest automatic production of nail files
can be achieved; and
Another object of the present invention is to propose the application of said nail
file prepared with the teeth profile of the file in the manufacture of nail
cutter/clipper, particularly by incorporating it in the nail cutter.
Statement of the invention:
The present invention is intended to propose:
• a process of nail file making by using automatic teeth profile creating
machine;
• a machine for creating teeth profile of the nail file in automation;
• the facility of loading of multiple work-pieces of nail file to the teeth profile
creating machine and their automatic processing thereof; and

towards carrying out continuous operations in synergy, so that easy and
quickest automatic production of nail files can be achieved; and
• The application of said nail file prepared with the teeth profile of the file in
the manufacture of nail cutter/clipper, particularly by incorporating it in the
nail cutter.
Description of the invention:
The present discloser is generally about making nail file of a nail cutter/clipper,
which is an important component of said nail cutter/clipper device. In the present
invention the main body of the nail cutter/clipper, its nail cutter/clipper head and
its various components thereof are preferably made from cold roll & close
annealed (CRCA) mild steel material, preferably by involving several operations
towards cutting/slotting, bending & shaping, edge grinding and electroplating etc.
Creation of a very uniform and fine teeth profile, in most economic manner, is the
most challenging part of such manufacturing. By the present invention, it is
possible to create teeth profile of the nail file automatically, consuming almost no
time and in most cost-effective manner.
The said nail file making machine mainly comprises of:
hydraulic/mechanical hammer installation, which is mounted with a hitting head
of fine thickness, ranging from 0.25 mm to 2 mm, corresponding to the thickness
of single teeth of said teeth pattern of nail file. Said hammer is provisioned for
5
hitting the work-piece of the nail file at a pre-determined frequency and the said
hitting operation of said hammer is regulated using certain software/logic guided
control panel.
A slider ramp beneath the hitting head of said hydraulic/mechanical hammer,
particularly positioned at 90°, wherein said ramp accommodates and places the
work-piece of the nail file at a position created on said ramp, mechanically and
periodically coming from the box loaded with multiple such work-pieces. Further,
said ramp, mounted with the work-piece of the nail file, slides uniformly and very
slowly, being controlled by the provisioned controlling mechanism therein, by way
of certain software/logic applicable therein.
A load holder box, mounted with the said slider ramp, wherein said box is
capable of loading multiple work-pieces of the nail file, particularly 50 to 100
pieces of the same. The ramp is created with a suitable opening just above the
load holder box, so that the work-pieces, move upward/forward there from,
comes above smoothly onto the ramp and get adjusted on the provisioned
position before initiation of the hammer's hitting action thereto.
During the teeth profile creating operation of the proposed machine herein, the
load holder box is filled with and stalked with the work-pieces, which moves
upward as the hammer's action progresses. The hammer, through its hitting
head, repeatedly hits the flat'surface of the work-piece, in the same manner as
the movement of a stitching needle of a cloth stitching machine. At the same time
6
the slider ramp slides gradually true and forth and consequently a pre-defined
area of the work-piece, positioned on said ramp thereof, receives a particular
number of hits from the hammer's hitting head, leading to creation of a pattern of
teeth profiles. The up and down movement of the hammer and the interval
between two consecutive hits of said hammer is pre-calculated and adjusted
using the controlling mechanism of the proposed machine. Similarly the duration
of forward horizontal motion and thereafter backward motion are pre-calculated
and adjusted/regulated using its customized controlling mechanism.
Thus the positioning of the work-piece from the load holder box to the ramp,
movement of said ramp, and the series of hitting action of the hammer
provisioned therein, constitutes a cycle of teeth profile creating operation, which
gets repeated continuously in automation.
Scope of the invention:
Although the invention has been described with reference to specific
embodiment, this description is not meant to be construed in a limiting sense.
Various modifications of the disclosed embodiments, as well as alternate
embodiments of the invention, will become apparent to persons skilled in the art
upon reference to the description of the invention. It is therefore contemplated
that such modifications can be made without departing from the spirit or scope of
the present invention as defined.
