Non Oily Cosmetic Formulation

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a cosmetic formulation which exhibits improved skin moisturization and reduced stickiness. The formulation also provides minimal oil phase separation, in part due to particular ratios of oil phase ingredients to sweat mopping agents employed in the particular formulation. A method of preparing the said formulation is also provided herewith.

Specification

Claims:1. A skin care formulation comprising:
a. oil phase;
b. water phase; and
c. at least one sweat mopping agent,
wherein sweat mopping agent to oil phase w/w ratio in said formulation is in the range of 1:1.5-1:3.5.
2. The formulation as claimed in claim 1, further comprising at least one emulsifying agent.
3. The formulation as claimed in claim 2, further comprising at least one colouring pigment.
4. The formulation as claimed in any of the claims 1-3, wherein sweat mopping agent to oil phase w/w ratio in said formulation is 1:2.5.
5. The formulation as claimed in claim 2, wherein oil phase to at least one emulsifying agent w/w ratio in said formulation is in the range of 1:1-1:2.
6. The formulation as claimed in claim 5, wherein oil phase to at least one emulsifying agent w/w ratio in said formulation is 1:1.4.
7. The formulation as claimed in any of the claim 1-3, wherein oil phase to water phase w/w ratio in said formulation is in the range of 1:1-1:2.
8. The formulation as claimed in claim 7, wherein oil phase to water phase w/w ratio in said formulation is 1:1.5.
9. The formulation as claimed in claim 3, wherein
a. oil phase comprises at least one compound selected from the group consisting of caprylic/capric triglyceride, cetyl alcohol, isopropyl palmitate, stearic acid, propyl paraben, glyceryl stearate, and glycol distearate;
b. water phase comprises at least one compound selected from the group consisting of glycerin, propylene gycol, allantoin, disodium EDTA, methyl paraben, butylene glycol, and sorbitol;
c. at least one sweat mopping agent is selected from the group consisting of aluminium hydroxide, silica, and aluminium starch octenylsuccinate;
d. at least one emulsifying agent is selected from the group consisting of glyceryl stearate and PEG-100 stearate, acrylates/C10-C30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, and cetearyl alcohol and ceteareth-20; and
e. at least one colouring pigment is selected from the group consisting of black iron oxide, yellow iron oxide, and red iron oxide.
10. The formulation as claimed in claim 9, wherein
a. oil phase comprises:
i. caprylic/capric triglyceride having weight concentration in the range of 0.3-0.7% of said formulation;
ii. cetyl alcohol having weight concentration in the range of 1-2% of said formulation; and
iii. isopropyl palmitate having weight concentration in the range of 0.3-0.7% of said formulation,
b. water phase comprises:
i. glycerin having weight concentration in the range of 0.5-1.5% of said formulation;
ii. propylene glycol having weight concentration in the range of 0.25-1% of said formulation; and
iii. allantoin having weight concentration in the range of 0.05-0.15% of said formulation,
c. at least one sweat mopping agent comprises:
i. aluminium hydroxide having weight concentration in the range of 0.05-0.15% of said formulation;
ii. silica having weight concentration in the range of 0.2-0.6% of said formulation; and
iii. aluminium starch octenylsuccinate having weight concentration in the range of 0.2-0.8%,
d. at least one emulsifying agent comprises:
i. glyceryl stearate and PEG-100 stearate having weight concentration in the range of 2.5-4.5% of said formulation;
ii. acrylates/C10-C30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer having weight concentration in the range of 0.05-0.15% of said formulation;
iii. cetearyl alcohol and ceteareth-20 having weight concentration in the range of 0.5-1.5% of said formulation; and
e. at least one colouring pigment comprises:
i. red iron oxide having weight concentration in the range of 0.001-2% of said formulation;
ii. yellow iron oxide having weight concentration in the range of 0.001-2% of said formulation; and
iii. black iron oxide having weight concentration in the range of 0.0001-2% of said formulation.
11. The formulation as claimed in claim 10, wherein
a. oil phase comprises:
i. caprylic/capric triglyceride having weight concentration of 0.5% of said formulation;
ii. cetyl alcohol having weight concentration of 1.5% of said formulation; and
iii. isopropyl palmitate having weight concentration of 0.5% of said formulation,
b. water phase comprises:
i. glycerin having weight concentration of 1% of said formulation;
ii. propylene glycol having weight concentration of 0.5% of said formulation; and
iii. allantoin having weight concentration of 0.1% of said formulation,
c. at least one sweat mopping agent comprises:
i. aluminium hydroxide having weight concentration of 0.1% of said formulation;
ii. silica having weight concentration of 0.4% of said formulation; and
iii. aluminium starch octenylsuccinate having weight concentration of 0.5%,
d. at least one emulsifying agent comprises:
i. glyceryl stearate and PEG-100 stearate having weight concentration of 3.5% of said formulation;
ii. acrylates/C10-C30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer having weight of 0.1% of said formulation; and
iii. cetearyl alcohol and ceteareth-20 having weight concentration of 1% of said formulation,
e. at least one colouring pigment comprises:
i. red iron oxide having weight concentration of 0.0438% of said formulation;
ii. yellow iron oxide having weight concentration of 0.2065% of said formulation; and
iii. black iron oxide having weight concentration of 0.00175% of said formulation.
12. The formulation as claimed in any of the claims 1-11, further comprising:
a. water having weight concentration of up to 100% of said formulation;
b. at least one chelating agent selected from the group consisting of dimercaptosuccinic acid, dimercapto-propane sulfonate, alpha lipoic acid, caldium disodium versante, disodium EDTA, and dimercaprol, said at least one chelating agent having weight concentration in the range of 0.01-2% of said formulation;
c. at least one thickener selected from the group consisting of ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP copolymer, carbomers acrylic acid polymers such as homopolymers, copolymers and cross-polymers, cross linked polyacrylic acid salts, cross linked acrylic copolymers, carboxymethyl cellulose, carboxy vinyl polymers, hydroxy ethyl cellulose, hydroxy propyl cellulose, methyl cellulose, zanthan gum, alginic acid salts, pectin , gum arabic, gatch gum, karaya gum, tragacanth gum, agar powder, gelatin, gums, magnesium aluminium silicates, vinyl pyridine copolymer/carbomer, and hydroxyethyl acrylate/sodium acryloyldimethyl taurate copolymer (and) isohexadecane (and) polysorbate 60, said at least one thickener having weight concentration in the range of 0.02-7% of said formulation;
d. at least one neutralizer selected from the group consisting of sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, ammonium hydroxide, diethanolamine, triethanolamine, 2-dimethylamino-2-methyl-1-propanol, and 2-aminomethyl-1propanol, said at least one neutralizer having weight concentration in the range of 0.01-2% of said formulation;
e. at least one skin conditioning agent selected from the group consisting of silicon derivatives such as cyclomethicone, dimethicone, and dimethylpolysiloxane, said at least one skin conditioning agent having weight concentration in the range of 0.2-9% of said formulation;
f. at least one sunscreen and/or whitening agent selected from the group consisting of p-aminobenzoic acid, octyldimethyl-PABA, phenylbenzimidazole sulfonic acid, 2-ethoxyethyl p-methoxycinnamate, benzophenone-8, benzophenone-3, homomethyl salicylate, menthyl anthranilate, 2-cyano-3,3-diphenyl acrylic acid, 2-ethylhexylester; 2-ethylhexyl-paramethoxycinnamate, 2-ethylhexyl salicylate, 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone-5-sulfonic acid, triethanolamine salicylate, avobenzone, terephthalylidene dicamphor sulfonic acid, 4-methylbenzylidene camphor, methylene bis-benzotriazolyl tetramethylbutylphenol, bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenol triazine, disodium phenyl dibenzimidazole tetrasulfonate, diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate, dimethico-diethylbenzalmalonate, isopentyl-4-methoxycinnamate, ascorbyl phosphate, catechins, resorcins, flavones, isoflavones, gallates, 4-butyl-benzene-1,3-diol, azelaic acid, vitamin A acid, 5-hydroxy-2-hydroxymethyl-4H-pyran-4-one, salicylic acid, ascorbic acid, tranexamic acid, and niacinamide, , said at least one one sunscreen and/or whitening agent having weight concentration in the range of 0.1-10% of said formulation;
13. The formulation as claimed in claim 12, comprising:
a. water having weight concentration up to 100%;
b. disodium EDTA having weight concentration in the range of 0.01-2%;
c. carbomer having weight concentration in the range of 0.01-2%;
d. acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer having weight concentration in the range of 0.05-0.15%;
e. xanthan gum having weight concentration in the range of 0.01-5%;
f. glycerin having weight concentration in the range of 0.5-1.5%;
g. propylene glycol having weight concentration in the range of 0.25-1%;
h. allantoin having weight concentration in the range of 0.05-0.15%;
i. caprylic/capric triglyceride having weight concentration in the range of 0.3-0.7%;
j. cetyl alcohol having weight concentration in the range of 1-2%;
k. glyceryl stearate (and) PEG-100 stearate having weight concentration in the range of 0.1-5%;
l. isopropyl palmitate having weight concentration in the range of 0.1-3%;
m. cetearyl alcohol (and) ceteareth-20 having weight concentration in the range of 0.5-1.5%;
n. triethanolamine having weight concentration in the range of 0.01-2%;
o. cyclopentasiloxane (and) dimethicone crosspolymer having weight concentration in the range of 0.1-5%;
p. cyclopentasiloxane, dimethiconol, dimethicone crosspolymer, phenyltrimethicone blend having weight concentration in the range of 0.1-4%;

q. red iron oxide having weight concentration in the range of 0.001-2%;
r. yellow iron oxide having weight concentration in the range of 0.001-2%;
s. black iron oxide having weight concentration in the range of 0.0001-2%;
t. aluminium hydroxide powder having weight concentration in the range of 0.01-2%;
u. silica having weight concentration in the range of 0.01-4%;
v. titanium dioxide having weight concentration in the range of 0.1-10%;
w. ethyl hexyl methoxy cinnamate having weight concentration in the range of 0.1-10%;
x. methylene bis-benzotriazolyl tetramethylbutylphenol (and) aqua (and) decyl glucoside (and) propylene glycol (and) xanthan gum having weight concentration in the range of 0.1-10%;
y. niacinamide having weight concentration in the range of 0.01-5%; and
z. aluminium starch octenylsuccinate having weight concentration in the range of 0.01-3%;
14. The formulation as claimed in claim 13, comprising:
a. water having weight concentration of qs to 100%;
b. disodium EDTA having weight concentration of 0.15%;
c. carbomer having weight concentration of 0.1%;
d. acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer having weight concentration of 0.1%;
e. xanthan gum having weight concentration of 0.05%;
f. glycerin having weight concentration of 2.5%;
g. propylene glycol having weight concentration of 2%;
h. allantoin having weight concentration of 0.15%;
i. caprylic/capric triglyceride having weight concentration of 2.0%;
j. cetyl alcohol having weight concentration of 2.5%;
k. glyceryl stearate (and) PEG-100 stearate having weight concentration of 4.0%;
l. isopropyl palmitate having weight concentration of 1.5%;
m. cetearyl alcohol (and) ceteareth-20 having weight concentration of 1.5%;
n. triethanolamine having weight concentration of 0.75%;
o. cyclopentasiloxane (and) dimethicone crosspolymer having weight concentration of 2.0%;
p. cyclopentasiloxane, dimethiconol, dimethicone crosspolymer, phenyltrimethicone blend having weight concentration of 2.0%;
q. red iron oxide having weight concentration of 0.0346%;
r. yellow iron oxide having weight concentration of 0.189%;
s. black iron oxide having weight concentration of 0.002%;
t. aluminium hydroxide powder having weight concentration of 0.15%;
u. silica having weight concentration of 0.6%;
v. titanium dioxide having weight concentration of 2.5%;
w. ethyl hexyl methoxy cinnamate having weight concentration of 2%;
x. methylene bis-benzotriazolyl tetramethylbutylphenol (and) aqua (and) decyl glucoside (and) propylene glycol (and) xanthan gum having weight concentration of 1 %;
y. niacinamide having weight concentration of 1.5%;
z. aluminium starch octenylsuccinate having weight concentration of 1.0%;
15. A method of preparing a formulation as claimed in claim 3, said method comprising:
a. contacting said at least one colouring pigment with water phase and at least one sweat mopping agent, wherein sweat mopping agent to oil phase w/w ratio in said formulation is in the range of 1:1.5-1:3.5 at a temperature in the range of 40-60°C and stirring at 50-70 rpm to obtain a dispersion, and increasing temperature of the dispersion to a range of 80-90°C while stirring at 50-70 rpm to obtain a homogenized mixture A;
b. contacting oil phase at a temperature in the range of 80-90°C with said mixture A to obtain a homogenized mixture B,
wherein said formulation has uniform and consistent dispersion of at least one colouring pigment, and is essentially free of pigment dispersing silicones.
16. The method as claimed in claim 15, wherein said method further comprise contacting cosmetically suitable additives, carriers, excipients, and diluents at a temperature in the range of 80-90°C.
