Abstract: Nose Landing Gear Actuator is double acting, differential area type~ hydraulic actuator built with various main. sub:-assemblies that includes Rod End sub-assembly (1 ), Shuttle Valve sub-assembly (2), Cylinder subassembly (3), Jack Head sub-assembly (5), Lock Detection and Indication sub-assembly (6) and Piston Rod sub-assembly· (7). This actuator locks internally in the retracted p~sition to hold the Nose Landing Gear in lowered position while landing (with··hydraulic pressure ON) and on ground (with hydraulic pressure OFF). This actuator is normally extended or retracted using hydraulic pressure from hydraulic power-pack of the aircraft. However, in case of failure of the hydraulic system, this actuator - - can be retracted pneumatica~k~~!;~J~~~n bottles in~talled on aircr~ft) through Shuttle Valve sub-assembly2f21~n'8 also fitted w1th Lock detection and indication sub-assembly (6) to provide indication for its locked and retracted position to the pilot.
