DESC:TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to a contact system of the circuit breaker. More particularly, the present invention provides a novel contacts system arrangement for two pole compact modular circuit breaker.

BACKGROUND AND THE PRIOR ART
Circuit breakers are used as safety devices to prevent an electrical circuit from drawing more current than it's designed to use, preventing possible fire hazards from overheated wiring and electrical appliances
In conventional modular breaker every individual moving member generally carry single contact or double contact of a same polarity (i.e. either both phase and both neutral) hence consider as a single pole.
WO 2013144686 disclosed an improved double break contact system for use in moulded case circuit breakers. The system comprises shaft means, fixed contact means and moving contact means mounted on shaft means, spring means operatively mounted on the shaft means, holder means securing said spring means wherein holder means being rotatably mounted on the shaft means in a manner that rotation of the shaft means in operation rotates said holder means. The spring means is adapted to provide force opposing the electromagnetic.
Therefore, the present invention provides a two pole breaker having two set of terminals on either side for incoming and outgoing circuit. It has single moving member which carry contact of two different polarities (i.e. one phase and one neutral) hence form two poles system

Accordingly, it should be apparent to those skilled in the art that the following description of exemplary embodiments of the present invention are provided for illustration purpose only and not for the purpose of limiting the invention as defined by the appended claims and their equivalents.
It is to be understood that the singular forms “a,” “an,” and “the” include plural referents unless the context clearly dictates otherwise.
By the term “substantially” it is meant that the recited characteristic, parameter, or value need not be achieved exactly, but that deviations or variations, including for example, tolerances, measurement error, measurement accuracy limitations and other factors known to those of skill in the art, may occur in amounts that do not preclude the effect the characteristic was intended to provide.
Accordingly, present invention provides two fixed contacts (2) on special shaped carrier (4) which can have slight angular movement and two moving contacts (1) on single moving arm of mechanism. Proposed system eliminates need of spring between individual contacts.
In present invention of a two pole breaker, single moving member carry two contacts of two different polarities (i.e. one phase and one neutral) hence form two poles system. To ensure positive and adequate contact pressure between both incoming and outgoing contacts of both the poles, combined axis of both the moving contacts (1) must match with combined axis of other two contacts of phase and neutral. Other contacts are fixed on a special shape contact carrier (4) which can have a small angular movement on its own axis. Therefore when any one of the moving contact (1) touch the contact at special contact carrier (4), carrier will have it’s own self alignment with their respective moving contacts (1) therefore both set of contact touch meet positively and maintain availability of supply across respective phase and neutral terminals.
After closing of contacts, any further movement of moving member gives equal contact pressure at contact of both the poles due to special shape contact carrier (4) which align itself to the requirement posed by moving member (carrying both phase and neutral contacts). Both moving contacts at moving member and fixed contact at special carrier are separated by insulating wall (9) to ensure sufficient clearance and creepage distance between each pole in both OFF and ON scenario. The fix contact (2) arrangement is totally new which is sliding in housing and cover of modular device. It is a smart arrangement of contact system over the existing system with less number of components.
The technical specifications and other details are as follows:
Figure 1 shows the arrangement of overall moving (1) and fix contact (2) on special carrier (4). Figure 1 illustrates the fix (2) and moving contact (1) arrangement according to the present invention. It is showing co-ordination between moving and fix contact.
Figure 2 shows detailed view of compact fix contact assembly (6) on the fixed contact carrier. It is showing sub assembly of contact tip (7) with fix contact (2) and fix contact assembly (6) with compact unit.
Figure 3 shows one mechanism spring (8) arrangement which is travelling moving contact (1) towards fix contact (2). It is responsible for contact pressure.
Figure 4 shows the wall separation between two fixed contacts for isolation between two fix contacts (2) (phase and neutral fix contact) which will restrict arc movement from one contact to other and proper isolation can be maintained.
Figure 5 shows the space for soldering (10) of wire on compact unit for soldering of phase out and neutral out wire.
Figure 6 shows the sliding of compact unit in housing and cover. It is the detailed view of compact unit assembly and its sliding direction in housing and cover. When moving contact will start travelling towards fix contact with the help of mechanism spring then it will create pressure on fix contact and it will get close. If one moving contact touches first to corresponding fix contact then compact unit will slide in opposite direction and it will close second contact. In this innovation spring action is replaced with sliding action.
The present invention provides a low cost and simple novel contact system which can be used for isolation between two individual poles or between Phase and Neutral in small space. The present invention enables compact modular device (like RCCB, Isolator etc.) used for residential apartments where current is usually limited to 40A. Reduction in size from 2Module (36mm) to 1Module (18mm) is also possible with such concept. It also help in reduction in DB size if below devices are installed in the DB which use this invention.
Special shaped fixed contact carrier (4) accommodate manufacturing tolerances due to its self-alignment feature hence eliminating need of any additional springs at either on fixed or moving contact which is required for accommodating manufacturing tolerances and having positive contact between contacts of each poles.
Novel Features:
· Overlapping walls are creating isolation between phase and neutral contacts which will restrict arc movement.
· Breaking of two contacts in one compact unit.
· Ensure positives contacts by Special Shaped fixed contact carrier having self alignment feature with its small angular moment in housing and cover.
· It eliminates need of fix contact springs due to auto alignment features of fixed contact carrier.
· Proper isolation between two fix contact can be achieved by sliding of two wall on each other (one wall from moving and one wall from fix) to restricts any arc movement between phase and neutral.
· Space severs due to its compactness.
