THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATION PARTICULARLY DESCRIBES AND ASCERTAINS THE NATURE OF THIS INVENTION AND THE MANNER IN WHICH IT IS TO BE PERFORMED

FIELD OF THE INVENTION:
The present invention is related to body systems of a vehicle. More particularly, the present invention is related to hood hinge of a vehicle wherein hood hinge has a locking mechanism and replaces the stay rod in a motor vehicle.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION AND PRIOR ART:
In current vehicles after opening the hood we are using stay rod to keep the hood in open condition. Stay rod is manually placed in an appropriate position under the hood of a vehicle to hold the hood in open condition. When the operator is working on the engine compartment, this stay rod may lead to accident and unsafe working environment for the operator. To take care of this drawback, the present invention is targeted.
Korean patent No. KR100844676 describes hood stay-cum-hood hinge for vehicle wherein hood hinge for hood stay in a vehicle is provided to perform a stay operation for appropriately maintaining the opened hood on the hood hinge itself such that there is no need for an additional stay rod or a gas lifter. But the drawback of this prior art is that it requires manual intervention while operating the hood and it does not ensure the operator safety.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:
The main objective of the present invention is to provide a novel hood hinge with locking mechanism for a motor vehicle
Another object of the present invention is to provide a novel hood hinge with locking mechanism for a motor vehicle wherein no need of any manual interruption is required for keeping the hood in open condition.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide a novel hood hinge that eliminates the requirement of stay rod in the vehicle.

STATEMENT OF INVENTION
Accordingly the invention provides a novel hood hinge with locking mechanism for motor vehicle comprises a first bracket rigidly adapted to be fixed to the hood at rear side of the hood at end corners; a second bracket having stopper hole middle adapted to be fixed to the body of vehicle; a hinge pin pivotably engaged to the one end of the said first bracket and second bracket; a stopper with biased first spring, controlled by cable means , mounted in alignment of the said stopper hole so as to engage the said stopper hole; a locking bracket having slot formation in middle portion with one end having hole and other end rigidly fixed to the said first bracket in mid portion such that when the hood is closed the said locking bracket one end moves into the slot made in the base of the said second bracket and the said stopper through the said stopper hole engaging to the said slot and when the said hood opened the said hole at one end of said locker bracket aligns with the stopper hole and gets enaged to the said stopper; a cable engaged the sad stopper connected to a second spring biased actuating lever pivotably connected to the third bracket adapted to be fixed to the front end at middle portion of the said hood.
Accordingly the invention also provides a hood means provided to a motor vehicle comprises a novel hood hinge with locking mechanism wherein the said first bracket rigidly fixed to the vehicle hood at rear end both corners and second bracket rigidly fixed to the vehicle body and the third bracket fixed to the front end at middle portion
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES:
Figure 1 shows the location of hood hinge and latch on joinery line of hood with the body of a vehicle.
Figure 2 shows exploded view of the hood hinge assembly in accordance with the present invention.

Figure 3 show the exploded view of stopper assembly / locking mechanism of the hood hinge of the present invention.
Figure 4 shows locked position of the hood hinge when the hood is in closed position.
Figure 5 shows the normal position of the hood hinge latch in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 6 shows the unlatched position of the hood hinge latch in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 7 shows the stopper position during unlatching of the hood in accordance with the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:
Referring to the figures attached herewith, the present invention comprises of a two linkage hood hinge, stopper arrangement, a latch and a cable connecting the hood hinge and the latch. The stopper arrangement consists of a strong steel rod called stopper which moves linearly and lock the rotary movement of the locking bracket. This stopper slides inside the plunger base. A spring is kept between the stopper and the plunger base. A cable is connected at the end of the stopper to the latch part as shown in figure. When the pad is pulled the stopper moves back and the locking bracket is free to move.
When the hood is opened, the locking bracket, of the hood hinge, slides with the stopper. Due to this sliding motion, stopper moves back and compress the spring. Locking bracket movement is locked when the hole in the locking bracket comes and coincides with the stopper. When the hole of the locking bracket coincides with the stopper, the spring, which is in compressed position in the stopper arrangement, releases its stored energy which pushes the stopper into the hole of the locking bracket. In this way the locking of hood is

done. For closing the hood, the actuating lever of the latch is pulled which makes the stopper to move back so that locking bracket is now free to move. The secondary latch of the hood which is used for opening it can also be used as a latch for this system by making necessary changes in it.
DETAILS CONSTRUCTION FEATURES OF INVENTION:
A novel hood 1 hinge with locking mechanism for motor vehicle comprises a first bracket 2 rigidly adapted to be fixed to the hood 1 at rear side of the hood at end corners. A second bracket 3 having stopper hole in middle portion adapted to be fixed to the body of vehicle; a hinge pin (not shown) pivotably engaged to the one end of the said first bracket 2 and second bracket 3. A stopper 5 with biased first spring 6, controlled by cable means
10 , mounted in alignment of the said stopper hole so as to engage the said stopper hole. A locking bracket 11 having slot formation in middle portion with one end having hole and other end rigidly fixed to the said first bracket 2 in mid portion such that when the hood 1 is closed the said locking bracket
11 one end moves into the slot made in the base of the said second bracket 3 and the said stopper 5 through the said stopper hole engaging to the said slot and when the said hood 1 opened the said hole at one end of said locker bracket aligns with the stopper hole and gets enaged to the said stopper 5 . A cable 10 engaged the said stopper 5 connected to a second spring 7 biased actuating lever 9 pivotably connected to the third bracket adapted to be fixed to the front end at middle portion of the said hood.
The actuating lever is operable from the dash board control means for opening hood after making free from stopper engagement of locking bracket.
Stopper materials can be of steel (EA56, 57) to meet the requirement of high strength and other high strength materials can be used. Brackets which are fixed to the body and hood can be made of steel. Plunger base can also be made of steel. It can also be made of plastic material like nylon or noryl material. Spring is made of spring steel.

The technical advantages achieved by the present invention:
- Because of the incorporation of present invention, there is no need of stay rod to hold the hood in open position. Thus, the stay rod is completely eliminated from the system.
- The present invention provides greater safety to the customer / operator as compared to the conventional systems.
- Manual intervention in opening and holding the bonnet is completely eliminated.
- The technical problems related to the stay rod are completely eliminated.
