Novel Safety Interlock System And Circuit For Preventing Centrifugal Pump Failure
Abstract: The invention relates to a system and method of safety interlock for detecting a dry running within a centrifugal pump unit 10 comprising a pump switch 12 mounted on dashboard, the output of the pump switch 12 drive the valve solenoid 02 through a relay with delay timer 16 in normally closed NC 01 contact. A spool of directional control valve 14 which is connected with a hydraulic motor 20 to operate the centrifugal pump 10 by the valve solenoid 02. A safety interlock which includes wire harness connected to the relay with delay timer 16 that is activated after predetermined time and determine the water level using a low water level indicator 18. The relay with delay timer 16 to change the contacts if the water level is low and switch off the power supply to the hydraulic motor 20 which automatically turn off the centrifugal pump 10.
