Occupancy Level Detection And Controlling Device

Abstract: The device for assisting a user to detect occupancy levels of fluids is disclosed. The device detects the water level and turns the fluid pump ON or OFF automatically on the basis of lower or upper water level limit of the tank and also controlled manually using a mobile application. The device comprises an ultrasonic sensor fixed at the bottom of the lid to measure and sense the water level and transmits the water level information to the receiver through the transmitter to ON or OFF the pump automatically or manually.

Specification

Claims:1. The device for assisting a user to detect occupancy levels of fluids, wherein the device comprises of:
a sensor fixed at a bottom side of a lid of a tank for sensing a fluid level;
a controller to calculate the level of fluid in the tank, to notify whenever an overflow or underflow is detected;
a desired level mark that the sensor detects;
an RF transmitter to transmit the fluid level information to a receiver on touching the level mark;
an RF receiver to receive the output transmitted by the RF transmitter;
a circuit and a voltage regulator to supply a constant voltage to the circuit while charging a power source; and
a rechargeable battery as the power source to the device to operate uninterrupted.

2. The device according to claim 1, characterized to fix the transmitter at the tank and the receiver to a fluid pump.

3. The sensor according to claim 1, characterized to be connected to the controller in which the upper and lower threshold values of the fluid and/or semi-fluid levels are predefined.

4. The RF receiver according to claim 1, characterized to be connected to the controller for switching a relay according to a received input to turn the fluid pump on or off.

5. The RF transmitter according to claim 1, characterized to send a signal whenever fluid touches the lower or upper threshold value.

6. The method for assisting a user to detect occupancy levels of fluids in a tank, wherein the method comprises steps of:
fixing a sensor at a bottom side of a lid of a tank for sensing a fluid level;
calculating a level of fluid in the tank, to notify whenever an overflow or underflow is detected;
sensing a desired level mark by the sensor and transmitting the fluid level information to a receiver by an RF transmitter; and
supplying a constant voltage to a circuit while charging a power source having a rechargeable battery of the device to operate uninterrupted.

7. The method according to claim 6, wherein the device is operated in two different modes for turning the fluid pump ON or OFF; wherein includes:
a means of automatic mode, where the device operates the fluid pump to turn ON or OFF depending on the level of fluid reached in the fluid tank; and
a means of manual mode, wherein the device sends the fluid level information to a user’s mobile on an installed mobile application to enable him operate manually.

8. The method according to claim 6, wherein the user can observe the fluid level, monitor the fluid level of the tank from any point of the earth and turn the fluid pump ON or OFF.

, Description:Technical Field of the Invention

[0001] The present invention relates to a device for assisting a user to detect occupancy levels of fluids. More particularly, it relates to a method for assisting a user to detect occupancy levels of fluids in a tank manually or automatically.

Background of the Invention

[0002] Fluid level measurement plays an important role in the commercial and technological applications. The fluids are stored in bulk in homes and businesses on their own property prior to or after use. The liquids are stored in fluid tanks and are drawn down for multiple purposes such as for drinking water, irrigation in agriculture, fire suppression, for livestock, chemical manufacturing, food preparation as well as many other uses.

[0003] There are different devices to measure the liquid levels in tanks such as mechanical, capacitive, inductive, ultrasonic, acoustic or optical. The main principle considered in selecting the detecting method is the property of material that should be detected. Mostly mechanical and ultrasonic methods are used to detect the level of solid materials, capacitive and optical methods are used to detect the level of fluids. The sensors used for liquid level measurement has advantages include low cost, low power consumption, high linearity and easy adjustability to the geometry of the application.

[0004] Presently there are many ways to measure fluid levels in the tanks. One of the level measuring device is the sight glass i.e. a manual approach to measurement which always had a number of limitations, other level detection device is based on specific gravity, a simple float device having a specific gravity between those of the process fluid and the headspace vapor will float at the surface and some other complex physical principles are also involved which use computers to perform the calculations for detecting the level of fluids in the tank.

[0005] There is a need to develop a device that can detect the occupancy level and control the water flow by operating the device manually or automatically.

Brief Summary of the Invention

[0006] A principle object of the present invention is to provide a device to detect the occupancy level and control the water flow in the tank.

[0007] According to a first aspect of the present invention, a device for assisting the user to detect occupancy levels of fluids comprises a sensor which is fixed at a bottom side of a lid of a tank for sensing a fluid level and a controller to calculate the level of fluid in the tank to notify whenever an overflow or underflow is detected by the sensor, when the desired level of mark is touched.

[0008] In accordance with the first aspect of the present invention, the device further comprises an RF transmitter to transmit the fluid level information to a receiver on touching the level mark and an RF receiver to receive the output transmitted by the RF transmitter.

[0009] In accordance with the first aspect of the present invention, further the device comprises a circuit and a voltage regulator to supply a constant voltage to the circuit while charging a power source and a rechargeable battery as the power source to the device to operate uninterruptedly.

[0010] In accordance with the first aspect of the present invention, the device is characterized to fix the transmitter at the tank to transmit the fluid level information and the receiver to a fluid pump to receive the output transmitted by the RF transmitter and a sensor is connected to the controller in which upper and lower threshold values of the fluid and/or semi-fluid levels are predefined.
[0011] In accordance with the first aspect of the present invention, the RF receiver characterized to be connected to the controller for switching a relay according to a received input to turn the fluid pump on or off and the RF transmitter is characterized to send a signal whenever fluid touches the lower or upper threshold value.

[0012] According to a second aspect of the present invention, the method for assisting a user to detect occupancy levels of fluids in a tank is disclosed. The method comprises steps of fixing a sensor at a bottom side of a lid of a tank for sensing a fluid level and calculating a level of fluid in the tank to notify whenever an overflow or underflow is detected.

[0013] In accordance with the second aspect of the present invention, the method further comprises steps of sensing a desired level mark by the sensor and transmitting the fluid level information to a receiver by an RF transmitter and supplying a constant voltage to a circuit while charging a power source having a rechargeable battery of the device to operate uninterrupted.

Detailed Description of the Invention

[0017] Referring to the drawings, wherein like reference numerals designate identical or corresponding systems, preferred embodiments of the present invention are described.

[0018] In accordance with a first exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a device for assisting the user to detect occupancy levels of fluids comprises a sensor which is fixed at a bottom side of a lid of a tank for sensing a fluid level and a controller to calculate the level of fluid in the tank to notify whenever an overflow or underflow is detected by the sensor, when the desired level of mark is touched.

[0019] In accordance with the first exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the device further comprises an RF transmitter to transmit the fluid level information to a receiver on touching the level mark and an RF receiver to receive the output transmitted by the RF transmitter.

[0027] Referring to the drawings, FIG. 1 illustrates a flowchart 100 depicting the working and operating of an occupancy level detection and controlling device automatically according to the present invention. The device is used for assisting a user to detect the occupancy level of fluids in the tank by connecting the sensor 102.1 at the bottom side of a lid of a tank to sense the fluid level and a controller 102.2 to calculate the level of fluid in the tank to notify whenever an overflow or underflow is detected. The sensor 102.1 is connected to the controller 102.2 in which the upper and lower threshold values of the fluid and/or semi-fluid levels are predefined.

[0028] The device comprises a transmitter part 102 and receiver part 104 to transmit and receive the information when the fluid reaches the desired level. The transmitter part 102 is fixed at the tank and the receiver part 104 is fixed to the fluid pump. The transmitter part 102 comprises a sensor 102.1 to sense the fluid level and connected to a controller 102.2 which calculates the level of fluid in the tank to notify whenever an overflow or under flow is detected by the sensor 102.1.

[0029] When the tank gets filled to a desired level the sensor 102.1 fixed to the lid senses the fluid level and transmits the fluid level information to the receiver part 104 of the receiver 104.3 through the RF transmitter 102.3 which is connected to the tank. The receiver 104.3 connected to another controller 104.2 receives the data and the controller 104.2 switches the relay and turns the water pump 104.1 OFF automatically. Hence by using this process the liquid level of the tank can be maintained without any human presence.

[0030] FIG. 2 illustrates a flowchart 200 depicting the working of an occupancy level detection and controlling device manually through mobile application according to the present invention. In the manual mode the device gives the information to the user about the water level 208 to the mobile application 206. The user can operate the fluid pump to turn ON or OFF and monitor the fluid level of the tank using the mobile application 206 installed in the user mobile as per the water level 208 shown in the mobile application 206.

[0031] When the water level in the tank touches the level of mark the sensor 202.1 fixed to the lid of the tank senses and send the information to the user mobile through the mobile application 206 connected to the device through a Wi-Fi module such as transmitter 202.3. The receiver 204.3 connected to the fluid pump receives the water level information through the mobile application 206 and turns fluid pump ON or OFF 210 through the mobile from any point of the earth.

[0032] In one embodiment the device can be operated in two different modes of operation one is totally automated where the user need not pay any attention at the water level in the tank and the second is the manual mode where the device can be controlled using a mobile application.
