Abstract: A system (100) for removing off-cut portions from HLP blank web (300) is described. The system comprises a first roller (102) and a second roller (104) which are rotatable in opposite directions, and between which HLP blank web is passed for removing the off-cut portions. Two sets of waste-removal pins, a first set (106) and a second set (108), both of which are coupled to the first roller. The two sets are arranged in form of rows along the length of the first roller, such that the two rows are adjacent to each other. The length of the first set (106) of waste-removal pins is more than length of second set (108) of waste-removal pins.
CLIAMS:1. A system (100) for removing off-cut portions from a hinged lid pack (HLP) blank web, wherein the system comprises:
a first roller (102) and a second roller (104) rotatable in opposite directions to pass the HLP blank web (300) between the first roller (102) and the second roller (104) for removing the off-cut portions;
a first set (106) of waste-removal pins coupled to the first roller (102), wherein the first set (106) of waste-removal pins are arranged in a row along a length of the first roller (102); and
a second set (108) of waste-removal pins coupled to the first roller (102), wherein the second set (108) of waste-removal pins are arranged in a row along the length of the first roller (102) and adjacent to the row of the first set (102) of waste-removal pins,
wherein each waste-removal pin in the first set (106) is longer than each waste-removal pin in the second set (108) by a length in a range from about 1.0 mm to about 1.6 mm.
2. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, the row of the second set (108) of waste-removal pins is adjacent to the row of the first set (106) of waste-removal pins such that an off-cut portion is punched by one waste-removal pin of the first set (106) before being punched by one waste-removal pin of the second set (108) while the HLP blank web is passing between the first roller (102) and the second roller (104).
3. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the each waste-removal pin in the first set (106) has a length in a range from about 14.5 mm to about 15.5 mm.
4. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the each waste-removal pin in the second set (108) has a length in a range from about 13.5 mm to about 14.5 mm.
5. The system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the each waste-removal pin in the first set (106) has a length of about 14.5 mm and the each waste-removal pin in the second set (108) has a length of about 13.5 mm.
6. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the each waste-removal pin in the first set (106) has a length of about 15.5 mm and the each waste-removal pin in the second set (108) has a length of about 14.5 mm.
7. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein a portion of the each waste-removal pin in the first set protruding from the first roller (102) has a length in a range from about 4.8 mm to about 5.2 mm.
8. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein a portion of the each waste-removal pin in the second set (108) protruding from the first roller (102) has a length in a range from about 3.2 mm to about 3.7 mm.
9. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the each waste-removal pin in the first set (106) and the each waste-removal pin in the second set (108) are made of carbon steel.
