Technical Field
[0001] The present invention relates to an oil composition and a
cuttinggrinding processing method by minimal quantity lubrication
system using the oil composition.
Background Art
[0002] As one of cuttinggrinding processing methods, there is a
cuttinggrinding processing method by minimal quantity lubrication
system (also referred to as MQL, hereinbelow) in which a trace amount
of oil ranging fiom a few mL per hour to a few tens of rnL per hour is
supplied together with compressed air to a metal to process the metal.
Since MQL uses a less amount of oil than conventional metal
processing methods, there is an advantage in reduction of the amount of
wastes, and therefore, the range of applications of MQL is expanding as
an environmentally fiiendly processing method.
[0003] In the case of MQL, even though only a trace amount of oil is
supplied to processing sites, the influence of the oil is great. For
instance, in the case where a water-soluble cutting fluid which has been
used in conventional processing methods is used as is in MQL, the oil is
ejected in the form of fine mist, and thus many of conventional
water-soluble cutting fluids which contain an mine compound or the
like may damage the respiratory system of operators.

CLAIMS
1. An oil composition comprising:
a lubricating base oil; and
an alkylene oxide adduct of a hydroxy acid having a
5 hydrophile-lipophile index of 8 to 15,
wherein the oil composition is used for cutting/grinding
processing by minimal quantity lubrication system.
2. The oil composition according to claim 1, wherein the
lubricating base oil is a synthetic ester and/or a vegetable oil, and a
10 content of the lubricating base oil is 5% by mass or more and 95% by
mass or less, on the basis of the total amount of the oil composition.
3. The oil composition according to claim 1 or 2, further
comprising a monohydric alcohol having 8 to 24 carbon atoms.
4. A cutting/grinding processing method by minimal quantity
15 lubrication system, comprising:
a step of supplying the oil composition according to any one of
claims 1 to 3 in the form of mist together with a compressed fluid to
processing sites of a workpiece.
5. The cutting/grinding processing method by minimal quantity
20 lubrication system according to claim 4, wherein the step further
comprises supplying water in a mass of 0.01 times to 100 times the
mass of the oil composition to the processing sites of the workpiece.
6. The cutting/grinding processing method by minimal quantity
lubrication system according to claim 4 or 5, wherein the workpiece is a
25 nonferrous metal.
