Abstract: Given description discloses a surrounding member for an oil cooler which is having a specific structure for collecting and redirecting flowing air in the oil cooler and also protects oil cooler from harmful foreign elements. This surrounding member has top deflector, side deflector on left and right side and one flexible bottom deflector. These deflectors are positioned in such a way that these collects larger amount of incoming air and redirects it to the oil cooler front resulting in enhancement of cooling of circulating oil. A grill is fixed in the area surrounded by the deflectors such that it remains in the front of the oil cooler and hence it provides protection of air cooler from the harmful foreign elements.
FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention generally relates to oil cooler of an engine for motorcycle and more particularly to an air collector integrated with the oil cooler in order to improve cooling effect of the oil cooler and to protect oil cooler from external harmful elements.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Generally, in motorcycles cooling effectiveness of oil cooler is proportional to amount of air flow across it. Due to positioning of oil cooler and layout constraints, the upcoming airflow to oil cooler is limited. Additionally, due to angular placement of oil cooler the air flow direction is not perpendicular to oil cooler face. This results in wastage of a portion of the upcoming air. Further, due to location of the oil cooler in contact with the atmosphere there is always a risk of external harmful elements like pebbles etc which results in damage of the oil cooler. Hence, it is imperative to maximize the collection of air over oil cooler face and minimize the wastage of air with protecting oil cooler from said harmful elements.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is related to surrounding member for an oii cooier which is having a specific structure for collecting and redirecting flowing air in the oil cooler. Further this surrounding member protects oil cooler from harmful foreign elements. Mentioned oil cooler is mounted over a frame of a motorcycle and said surrounding member is mounted over the frame through same mounting positions as of oil cooler. Said surrounding member has top deflector, side deflector on left and right side and one flexible bottom deflector. These deflectors are positioned in such as way that these collects larger amount of incoming air and redirects it to the oil cooler front resulting in enhancement of cooling of circulating oil. Flexible bottom deflector prevents any damage to the surrounding element in case of full suspension during jolts. A grill is fixed in the area surrounded by the deflectors such that it remains in the front of the oil cooler and hence it provides protection of air icooler from the harmful foreign elements.
Summary provided above explains the basic features of the invention and does not limt ihe scope of the invention. Additional detailed 1 information related to lihe enablement of the invention will be provided in the detailed description and accompanying claims. Scope of the invention shall be based on the claims provided.
BRIEF DESCRIPT ON OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWING
The present invention will become more fully understood from the detailed description given herein below and the accompanying drawing which is incorporated in and constitute embodiments of the invention, illustrate several aspects of the invention and together with a description of the embodiments sejrve to explain the principles of the invention and thus, are not limited of the present invention and a brief description of the drawing is as follows:
Figure 1 is showing the mounting arrangement of the claimed invention in a motorcycle.
Figure 2 is depicting the main embodiments of the claimed embodiments.
Figure 3 is depicting the mounting arrangement for enablement purpose by an exploded view.
Figure 4 and Figure 5 are describing the essential embodiments of the claimed invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The embodiments disclosed below are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise forms disclosed in the following detailed description. Rather, the embodiments are chosen and described so that others skilled in the art may utilize their teachings. The invention may have application to all types of vehicles. Referring i to Figure 1 to Figure 5 arrangement of the claimed surrounding structure 103 over the vehicle and detailed embodiments of said surrounding structure 103 are described. The surrounding structure 103 is mounted over oil cooler 102 such that it collects and redirects flowing air in the oil cooler 102. It also protects oil cdoler 102 from harmful foreign elements. Oil cooler 102 and the surrounding structure 103 is mounted over the frame 101 of motorcycle 100 though same oil cooler and surrounding structure mounting arrangements (102a1, 102a2, 103a1, 103a2). Said oil cooler 102 is connected to the oil circulating pipes 104, 105 with the help of oil cooler bottom mounting points 102b, 102c. These oil circulating pipes 104, 105 are further connected to the engine through.
Mentioned surrounding structure 103 has upper deflector 103e extending in an inclined upward direction and side deflectors 103f on left and right side of said surrounding structure 103 extending in an inclined outward direction. Said upper deflector 103e and side deflectors 103f are structured in a way that it collects flowing air during the movement of the vehicle and redirects it toward the oil cooler fins 102d. i Surrounding structure 103 also has a bottom deflector 103h at the bottom of the surrounding structure 103 which is extending outwardly from a grill structure 103d and based over lower deflector base 103g. Said bottom deflector 103h is fixed with the surrounding structure 103 through the lower deflector base 103g which is further integrated with the side deflectors 103f. Bottom deflector 103h is kept above said lower deflector base 103g and fixed with the lower deflector base 103g through lower deflector mounting points (103b1,103b2,103c1 and 103c2).
Said grill 103d structure is fixed in the area surrounded by the deflectors (103e, 103f, 103h) and remains in front of the heat exchanging area i.e. fins 102d of the oil cooler 102. Further, angle between grill structure 103d and the bottom deflector remains less than 90° such that bottom deflector 103h majorly redirects collected air to the oil cooler fins 102d. Said upper deflector 103e, side deflectors 103f, bottom deflector and grill structure 103d are integrated with each other. The bottom deflector 103h is made up of a material with elasticity equivalent to rubber elasticity such as plastic or any material which is flexible enough such that in order to any strike by front fender in case of jerk and full suspension condition it does not get damaged. Above described invention can be used to improve air flow over automobile heat exchangers (oil cooler, radiator) in compact/ constrained layouts. Said deflectors (1 D3e, 103f, and 103h) can be made by different materials such as plastic, rubber or metal. It collects additional air and minimizes wastage of upcoming air through grill 103d provided in front of the oil cooler fins102d.
