Abstract: Abstract The oil effluent treatment process by chemical dosing followed by ceramic membrane filtration followed by activated carbon filter followed by reverse osmosis membrane will produce the treated water which will have Oil < 5 ppm or BDL, TSS<5 ppm, Turbidity < 1 NTU & TDS <500 ppm. The treated water can be used for various applications which includes oil well injection, surface disposal in oil wells, irrigation and drinking. Oil industry water can be recycled and the treated water can be used for various application which will have less pollution as overall rejection of water will be less and treated water can be used by mankind.
DESC:Field of Invention
The present invention relates generally to oil removal from the effluent of the oil exploration. It relates to the ceramic membrane integrated with the activated carbon system and specific chemical dosing to treat the oil from the effluent generated during the oil exploration. Additionally, it also gives flexibility to treat higher value oil from the effluent in a same plant.
Oil industry is facing challenge to treat its effluent (where major contaminant is Oil) and produce the water which has oil content less than 10 ppm which is the permissible limits of the government of India as well as state government. Here is a solution which proposes to treat the oil from the effluent of oil industry and produce the water where oil content is less than 10 ppm with no odour and color at the same time it can be reused for well injection or can be discharged. It can be also useful in petroleum refineries for treatment of oil.
Description of the Prior Art
Generally, Any Effluent treatment plant in the oil exploration industry is designed to treat the specific water quality and it performs as per requirement only when the water quality remains within the specific designed limit. It has limitation where effluent water quality changes specifically in Oil exploration industry where Oil in the effluent varies significantly. Ceramic membrane with the help of activated carbon filter and chemical dosing produce the treated water which has low Oil, Turbidity and TSS. The treated water parameters of oil, turbidity and TSS is well below the required level of Central Pollution control board, Government of India as well as state pollution control boards in India.
Objects of the Invention
The primary objective of the system is to treat the oil content in the effluents of oil exploration industry which can be also used for the effluent treatment plants in the petrochemical refineries. The invention can also be useful in the industries where removing oil in the effluent is difficult.
Summary of the Invention
In the view of the effluent treatment plant, where there is difficult to treat the oil from the effluent and matching the discharge standard of the government of India and all the state governments. The same can be used for the various applications in the field of petroleum refinery.
Detailed Description of the Invention
80 ppm of Ferric chloride (Fecl3) as per oil content in the input effluent. and 50 ppm of Sodium Hypo Chlorite (Naoh) in the solution.
Ceramic Membranes are basically made up of ceramic flat sheet suitable for submerged applications. The membrane pore size is 0.1 µm. It allows precise filtration in the field of Oil Industry effluent treatment.
Ceramic membrane filtration treats suspended particles like oil, turbidity, total suspended solids, pH. Ceramic Membrane are most hydrophilic membrane and it has higher operating flux which can even produce results in terms of significant fluctuations of input water.
This ceramic filtration system is out to in filtration system where in Single ceramic plate with filter active layer on the outside of the membrane. Suspended solids are rejected on the membrane surface and forming a layer while clean water is passing through the membrane body and is collected at both side end caps. It is in the submerged treatment process.
After this ceramic membrane filtration process, the output water consists of dissolved oil, odour, colour and all the dissolved particles. These will be removed in the subsequent process.
This water further processed through Activated Carbon Filter which is having more than 1000 iodine value with around 15 minutes of retention time in the filter. The treated water from activated carbon filter will have Oil < 5 ppm or BDL, TSS < 5 ppm & Turbidity<1 NTU.
The treated water from Activated carbon filter finally goes to Radial Channel Disc Tube (RCDT) reverse osmosis system where in dissolved particles like total dissolved solid, calcium, magnesium, sulphates etc. can be treated and the treated water will be used for surface disposals in the oil exploration wells.
Radial Channel Disc Tube reverse osmosis is a cross-flow filtration process, i.e. driven by pressure: untreated water flows across an active layer (membrane) at high velocity and the filtrate flow passes through the membrane in vertical direction.
Usually, RCDT reverse osmosis is operated up to 90 bar. In addition, we offer a special high pressure technique up to an operating pressure of 160 bar, recovery rates up to 90% are possible depending upon water quality. Reverse osmosis allows the separation of low-molecular substances and inorganic salts.
