THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATION PARTICULARLY DESCRIBES AND ASCERTAINS THE NATURE OF THIS INVENTION AND THE MANNER IN Which IT IS TO BE PERFORMED

FIELD OF THE INVENTION:-
The present invention is related to light weight engine of a vehicle. More particularly, the present invention is related to an innovative, compact and integrated oil filtration and cooling module for 3-cylinder Diesel Engine wherein Oil cooler, Oil Filter, Inlet Controlled Thermostat, Water Pump housing and by-pass coolant passage are innovatively integrated to have less weight and increased reliability and Fuel Economy.
BACKGROUND OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:-
In Existing engines, Water Pump, Oil cooler and Oil filter are packaged in separate locations and connection between all of them are made by using external hoses or through internal Oil galleries at Crankcase. This leads to more complicated design with more number of parts and increased risk of leakages and failures.
Also, in existing engines. Thermostat is radiator mounted. Hence, coolant has to go until thermostat by means of external hoses and then come back to water pump suction. This will lead to more pressure drop. Also, since the coolant volume is quite high, warm-up time required to raise the coolant temperature is high.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT lNVENTlON:-
An innovative, compact & integrated module for 3Cyl In-line Diesel TC-IC Engine with integrated Oil cooler, Oil Filter, Inlet Controlled Thermostat, Water Pump housing & by-pass coolant passage to have less weight, cost, increased reliability and Fuel Economy.
For a 1.2lit 3cyl In-line Internal Combustion Diesel engine with Turbocharged Intercooler, a compact and integrated module has been designed with integration all the following functions which will give advantage in over-all engine weight, packaging space, more Fuel Economy and rapid engine warm-up. The system comprises of following components.
Oil Filtration - Filtering of all impurities and foreign particles to ensure clean oil supplied to engine bearings.
Oil Cooling - To maintain the Oil temperature under control to make sure the viscosity of Oil does not come down which will otherwise result in adverse effects on bearing life. Also, Oil temperature control is very important in order to remove heat from thermally loaded parts like Piston.
Coolant Pump - To provide enough coolant flow at required pressure to remove heat from critical areas to maintain metal temperatures with-in limit. A housing is needed for mounting the coolant pump which will also have involute profile and coolant passages.
Thermostat - To allow coolant flow to radiator when coolant flow reaches a particular limit & by-pass the radiator, when coolant temperature is below the specified limit.
By-pass passage - For Inlet controlled thermo-stat, By-pass passage from engine back to water pump through thermostat is needed.

High pressure water connection to EGR cooler - High pressure water directly from the outlet of Water Pump is given to EGR cooler inlet connection through a spout and pipe connection.
Cabin Heater Water Outlet connection back to Water Pump - Hot coolant which is supplied to cabin heater, to be brought back to water pump suction area to ensure coolant flow. Cabin heater outlet connection given back to water pump suction with internal coolant passages in the module.
High pressure Oil supply to Turbocharger - Cooled and Filtered Oil supplied to Turbocharger with maximum available Oil pressure.
The advantages achieved by this module are as under:
- Compact packaging - Very beneficial in 3cyl In-line Diesel engine where linear distance available for packaging of components is less.
- Less number of parts - Less Engine cost and Weight.
- Less Pressure drop - Lesser length of oil and coolant passages leading to less pressure drop and improved FE.
- Inlet controlled Thermostat - Very short by-pass passage. Rapid Engine warm-up. Accurate control of Thermostat opening temperature.
- Easy and compact module- Design made suitable for Pressure Die Casting. High Productivity
- Rubber Sealing at all interfaces. More robustness.
- All rubber gasket grooves in PDC housing are made in as cast condition. Cost reduction.
- Module is made as a sub-assembly with Oil cooler, Filter, Thermostat, thermostat Cap and water Pump. Reduced Assembly time in main engine assembly at OEM
- Leak testing for Oil and Coolant can be done in sub-assembly condition.
- Avoiding long hoses connecting engine water outlet to Thermostat and bypass hoses. Reduced risk of leakages and hose failures.
- Avoiding external hoses & connections or internal long galleries for Oil cooler. Reduce risk of leakages.

- Spin-On type of filter used. Easy for service and suitable for all kinds of filter type/make and dimensions.

WE CLAIM:-
1. Compact and integrated oi! filtration and cooling module comprising of oil Filtration unit, oil Cooling unit, Coolant Pump, Thermostat, by-pass passage, High pressure water connection to EGR cooler, Cabin Heater Water Outlet connection back to Water Pump and High pressure Oil supply to Turbocharger.
2. Compact and integrated oil filtration and cooling module as claimed in claim 1, wherein cooled oil from the oil cooler returns back to the oil filter through internal oil galleries; and dirty and hot oil from the crankcase returns to oil cooler through internal oil galleries provided therefor.
3. Compact and integrated oil filtration and cooling module as claimed in claim 1, wherein pressurized coolant outlet supplies the high pressure coolant to the EGR cooler and oil cooler.
4. Compact and integrated oil filtration and cooling module as claimed in claim 1, wherein at high coolant temperature when thermostat is opened the coolant flows through the radiator and at low coolant temperature the coolant flows through the by-pass passage provided therefore.
