Oil Sampling Adapter For A Fighter/Trainer Aircraft

Abstract: TITLE:- Oil Sampling Adapter for a Fighter/Trainer Aircraft Abstract The existing oil charging cap in the engine of a fighter aircraft is modified to collect oil from one side of the cap. The idea is to use an additional spacer to the spring loaded portion of the oil charging cap. This spacer will push the oil charging plunger from its seat and hold it in open position. Hence an adaptor is designed with a 2 mm diameter radial hole is drilled on the circumference of the cap to collect oil to easy collection of samples during every flight operations. This modified charging cap is to be used for ground purpose only. The main advantage of new methodology using developed adaptor is for Quick Oil sampling after every flight. If back-to-back flight is planned, then execution of sampling will be spontaneous and result will be obtained on faster mode. Thereby flight plan preparation will be easier.

Specification

ntle of the invention
Dil Sampling Adapter for a Fighter/Trainer Aircraft
Field of invention
(K new Methodology has been formed to confirm the oil quantity and its contamination level in the aero engines during Daily Inspection before and after every flight.
Use of invention
Each engine is to be serviced during Daily Inspection checks, before and after flight. This includes checking the Engine Blades and oil replenishment. Oil samples are to be collected periodically for assessment of the health of the internal engine including Bearings, Rotating parts, Seals etc. The previous methodology was conventional and involved basic tools such as screw drivers to plunge the oil port and remove oil from the replenishing point manually.
The new invention has designed, modified a suitable plunger adaptor, to ensure easy accessibility for removal of oil without creating any disturbances, damages to the engine area and also spillage of oil on the ground which is a main factor for contamination, when the dust gets accumulated and also avoiding loss of oil.
Prior art
Prior oil collection method includes removing the oil replenishment using quick disconnect cap and by conventional way of removing the old oil from the aero engines with the hand held tools like screw drivers etc.
Draw backs of prior art
a) Chances of damage to the oil replenishment point on the aero engine due to manual activity.
b) During pressing of the plunger with hand held tool causes spillage of oil and also the engine area gets wet and accumulates dusts and chance of creating oil contamination. «.

c) Wastage of engine oil due to spillage.
d) Avoids accidents such as slippage during working near the aero engines.
Comparison between prior art and present invention
In the prior art, oil sampling was carried out by way of using a conventional hand held tools, for removal of old oil from the aero engines after every flight.
The new methodology of oil sampling is carried out by using existing oil charging cap with modification on the cap assembly on one side of the cap. The idea is to use a spring loaded portion of the oil charging cap. The spacer inside the cap will push the oil charging plunger from its seat and hold it in open position. A 2mm Diameter radial hole is drilled on the circumference of the cap to collect the oil from aero engines with a uniform flow rate. This modified charging cap is to be used for ground purpose only.
Aim of the invention
The aim of the invention was to develop a quick oil sampling adapter after every flight. If back-to-back flights are planned, then execution of sampling will be spontaneous and result will be obtained on faster mode, thereby making flight plan preparation a much easier task to do.
Summary of the present invention
The existing oil charging cap is modified to collect oil from one side of the cap. The idea is to use an additional spacer to the spring loaded portion of the oil charging cap. This spacer will push the oil charging plunger from its seat and hold it in open position. A 2 mm radial hole is drilled on the circumference of the cap to collect oil. This modified charging cap is to be used for ground purpose only.

). Statement of invention
Oil sampling checks is carried out with a new methodology of modified adaptor with design changes for easy accessibility, safety and environment friendly.
I. Detailed description of invention
Each engine of the aircraft is stipulated to undergo servicing, during Daily Inspection checks, before and after every flight operations. This includes checking the Engine Blades and oil replenishment. Oil samples are to be collected periodically for assessment of the health of the internal engine including Bearings, Rotating parts, Seals etc. The new methodology of oil sampling is carried out by using existing oil charging cap with modification on the cap assembly on one side of the cap. The idea is to use a spring loaded portion of the oil charging cap. The spacer inside the cap will push the oil charging plunger from its seat and hold it in open position. A 2mm Dia radial hole is drilled on the circumference of the cap to collect the oil from aero engines. This modified charging cap is to be used for ground purpose only.

Annexure-ll
Title:- Oil Sampling Adapter for a Fighter/Trainer Aircraft
Claims
We claim
1. Methodology of sampling the oil from aircraft in improved version.
2. 2 mm Dia radial hole drilled on the circumference of the cap to collect oil is ensured without manual operations for replenishing the oil.
