Abstract: Online security system serving as a unique and exclusive password generator by random and dynamic substitution of symbols for user authentication over internet with respect to a server relating thereto, comprising a computer system with, the screen thereof displaying a tabular array of symbols including symbols of the user password, along with their corresponding randomly generated boolean strings of variable length (e.g. 0, 11,001, 1001) the user being thus enabled to punch on the keyboard the related 0's and 1 's corresponding to the actual user password, thus communicating the substituted boolean password to the server, said computer system being programmed to dynamically change the related 0 's and I's during the process of punching the keyboard to a different set of O's and I's on the screen.
This invention relates to online security system sening as a unique and exclusive password generator by random and dynamic substitution of symbols with variable length Boolean strings for user authentication over internet. Generally, internet surfers have to make use of passwords for the purpose of accessing specific websites. These include sensitive sites, such as, banking sites, e.mail sites, financial sites and so on. It is known that unscrupulous persons hack into these sites by getting hold of passwords and confidential data of bona fide users with the purpose of misusing these sites for their personal gain. There are, what are known as keyboard and screen logging programs and phishing websites which illegally capture data entered through the keyboard as well as data appearing on the screen of users for misusing such data.
It is therefore an object of this invention to prevent such abuse from taking place by ensuring that a
potential hacker does not capture the password of the bona fide user of the internet. Various other features of this invention will be apparent from what follows hereinafter. The online security system serving as a unique and exclusive password generator by random and dynamic substitution of symbols for user authentication over internet with respect to a server relating thereto, according to this invention, comprises a computer system with, the screen thereof displaying a tabular array of symbols including symbols of the user password, along with their corresponding randomly generated boolean strings of variable length (e.g. 0,11,001,1001) the user being thus enabled to p\mch on the keyboard the related O's and I's corresponding to the actual user password, thus communicating the substituted boolean password to the sers^er, said computer system being programmed to dynamically change the related O's and I's during the process of punching the keyboard to a different set of O's and I's on the screen.
This invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings which illustrate, by way of example, and not by way of limitation, in Fig. I the computer screen of an embodiment at the start of a transaction and Fig.2 the said computer screen of the embodiment 10 seconds after the start of the transaction. Supposing that the password assigned to the user for a specific website, say, a banking website is bat. On the user punching in his user name on the keyboard, the system calls for the password in the usual manner. In such a case, the user should, normally, punch b a t on the keyboard. However, on the computer screen what appears is a tabular array of a plurahty of symbols at random including symbols corresponding to the user password, along with their corresponding randomly related boolean strings of variable length . Thus corresponding to the letters b, a and t of the password, the user actually punches on the keyboard the numerals 0,01,0 (0 for b in Fig. 101 for a in Fig. 1 and 0 for t in Fig.2) as the screen changes from Fig. I to Fig,2 during the process.
This "substituted" password is acceptable to the lerv er, since it was programmed to accept. 0010 in the place of b a t.
Even if a hacker gets hold of the substituted boolean string password, extracting the actual user password is so remote that it can be practically eliminated because of the number of permutations and combinations involved due to random, dynamic and variable length nature of the substituted password.
It will be appreciated that various other embodiments of this invention arc possible without departing from the scope and ambit thereof.
We Claim:
1. Online security system serving as a unique and exclusive password generator by random and dynamic substitution of symbols for user authentication over internet with respect to a server relating thereto, comprising a computer system with, the screen thereof displaying a tabular array of symbols including symbols of the user password, along with their corresponding randomly generated boolean strings of variable length (e.g.
2. Online security system serving as a unique and exclusive password generator by random and
dynamic substitution of symbols for user authentication over internet substantially as herein described and illustrated with reference to the accompanying drawings.
