Abstract: This optical fiber manufacturing method includes a pre-treatment step (P2) of supplying electricity to a spinning furnace (110) to cause T/V to decrease over time along a quadratic function in which the maximum value is Ttarget/Vtarget so that T/V becomes Ttarget/Vtarget, in a case where: T and V are taken to be, respectively, the tension added to an optical fiber (1) and the speed at which the optical fiber (1) is withdrawn, when heating an optical fiber preform (1P) using the spinning furnace (110) and drawing the optical fiber (1); Ttarget is taken to be the tension target value; and Vtarget is taken to be the speed target value.
