Optical Fiber Production Method
Abstract: The present invention is characterized by comprising a drawing step P1 wherein an optical fiber preform 1P is drawn in a drawing furnace 110 and an annealing step P3 wherein an optical fiber that is drawn out during the drawing step P1 is annealed. The present invention is also characterized in that during the annealing step P3 the optical fiber is led through a plurality of annealing furnaces 121. The present invention is also characterized in that expression (1) is true when t(T) is the time constant of the structural relaxation of glass that constitutes a core of the optical fiber T is the temperature of the optical fiber at a given point in time during the annealing step P3 Tf0 is the fictive temperature of the glass that constitutes the core at said point in time and Tf is the fictive temperature of the glass that constitutes the core after a time ?t has elapsed from said point in time. (1) 20? < Tf-T = (Tf0-T)exp(-?t/t(T)) < 100?.
