Abstract: Provided is an optical material production method that includes: a step for preparing a polymerizable composition containing a polythiol composition and a polyiso(thio)cyanate compound; a determination step that includes measuring the content, in the polymerizable composition, of a solvent A that is one kind of solvent selected from the group consisting of toluene, acetone, and N, N-dimethylformamide, checking whether the content of the solvent A is in the range of 0.10 mass%-1.70 mass%, and if the content of the solvent A is in the range of 0.10 mass%-1.70 mass%, determining the polymerizable composition to be a polymerizable composition for an optical material; and a step for obtaining an optical material, which is a resin molded product, by pouring the polymerizable composition for an optical material into a mold for molding a resin and then curing said composition.
