FIELD OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to stop overflow of water in storage tank and to use 7% to
12% top side area of tank which has to leaves free for installing traditional devices
to check overflow, like as float valve and other water sensing electric or electronic FIELD OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to stop overflow of water in storage tank and to use 7% to
12% top side area of tank which has to leaves free for installing traditional devices
to check overflow, like as float valve and other water sensing electric or electronic.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
There are so many traditional systems are available to stop overflow of water from
the storage tank. These are some of the most using traditional system to check
overflow:-
A. Fully Mechanical
( i ) Float ball valve system (open type) - A floating hollow ball attached with a
level placed inside the tank and raised upward when water level reached to the top
in tank. When water push ball upward it block the mouth of inlet pipe.
(ii) Closed chamber float ball valve - It is compact model of above, placed inside
the tank and came currently in use.
There are so many drawbacks of the currently available systems. Both of above
devices installed inside the tank thus 7% to 15% tank space remain empty. These
devices are very sensitive and have no long life. These devices are not successful at high pressure water supply. These devices are not in-built part of tank . So many
tanks are in use without anti overflow devices.
B. Electro-Mechanical devices
In these kinds of devices water supply should be through motor pump. The
electronic or electric circuits break with uses mechanical part when water
raise up to undesired level in tank automatically.
These are some most using such kind electro-mechanical anti overflow
devices.
(i) Limit Switches – These are electric switches installed inside or
outside the tank and connected with float and level limit switches arm lift
due to water raise inside the tank. Thus the motor pump stops.
(ii) Mercury base switch – In this device mercury base floating switch
installs inside when water level raised to undesired level the floating
switch break the circuit and motor pump stop. Mercury is a very
dangerous toxic. So it is unfit for control pumps.
(iii) Electric circuit base system- with use of electronic circuits and
sensor the flow of electric breaks in motor pump by devices named
4
Relay. The sensors become scaled due to dip in water again and again.
The continuous electric supply is must to this device.
There are so many drawbacks of these currently available systems. Nearby
7% to 15% space remains unused / lacks. This can’t be filled by water.
Nobody is bound to use this device because money has to spend. So these
device are installed and running in a very low count. After being so useful
these devices can’t found easily in market. There is no demand and
awareness about these devices.
Utility limits of these devices are remarkable by which these devices could
not get popular. Such as:-
Float ball valve – fail at high pressure, not durable, high maintenance.
Closed chamber float valve – Very sensitive, low life, fail at high pressure.
Limit switch and mercury and other electronic devices - Fear of electric
current flow in tank, Technical person require to install and repair.
Cap of tank generally lie back opens. So mosquito, Insects, dirty particles
etc. enter to tank.
5
Results of Overflow
(i) Wastage of invaluable water runoff into drain.
(ii) Water logging and damp in roof resulting rust of steel bar, weakness
in roof, dirt, mosquito leakage of roof, spots in ceiling color etc.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
In first view we think that all tanks fills by motor pump or submersible pump
and overflows when motor pump does not switch off after filling of tank. But
the percentage of tank supplied by motor-pump is limited. The nearby study
shows in list as given below the different percentage of water supply system in
tanks. As per above table nearby 55% tank fills without help of electricity without
motor pump and without submersible pump. This category is a big group of
tank having percentage up to 55% of total number of tank. For these tanks float ball valves are only one device to check overflow. Because of float
ball valves is not a durable and rough-tough device and installs inside the
tank. Thus full capacity of tanks can’t become use and in the absence of
float ball valve installation or repair the tanks gets overflow after two or
three years.
The present invention has the object to solve these problems. This invention
has skill to remove all demerits of tank supply.
System shown at S.No. 2 In table 1 having percentage of nearby 55% of
total numbers of tank. In this type of system float valve are not practically
successful because water reaches in high pressure to tank and float ball
become fail in a small period.
The present invention has an in-built mechanical system with tank to check
overflow. Due to this, there is no need to buy it separately. So this invention
covers and rescue of mass sector of tank system those are not covered by
Electro-mechanical system.
Thus the major objects of the present invention are below:-
1. To check overflow of nearby 55% those tanks where water comes in
high pressure, and fills by high level overhead colony tank and where
8
water pump are not required also remove draw backs and disadvantages
of this sector of tank system.
2. Increase capacity 7 to 15% of tanks at same design shape and size.
3. To provide in-built device with tank to check overflow.
4. To provide durable, rough – tough and long lasting device.
5. To provide easy installation of tank.
6. To provide low cast installation of tank anti overflow system.
7. To avoid complicated electro-mechanical devices for check overflow
and provides a non electric base system.
8. To provide better option for tank which are to be install in those area
where water has cost of drop to drop. In desert and dry area bill of
electricity consumption in motor pump has no worth against water
saving. This invention does not permit leak even a drop at any rate.
9. This invention is friendly to work with existing “electro-mechanical”
anti flow device, which are using to check overflow in motor pump
supplied tanks.
9
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to check overflow in tanks. The device, used in
this invention is in-built with tank. This system uses, the full space of
water tank and ideal for those tanks which are connected with high over
head colony’s tank and not required motor pump for filling. This
invention covers minimum 55% of total numbers tank. It can easily
converts in to electro-mechanical control system to check overflow in all
kind of tank.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
As per figure-1 A water storage tank (Item No. 11) shown with its
fittings such as inlet pipe (Item No. 9) supply pipe (Item No. 10) , valve
and its airtight cover (item no 1).
In figure 2 the airtight cover of tank shown in (1) with its thread
(12), cover ring fitted inside (08) and a hollow plastic block (2).
In figure 3, top view of vent valve with its parts shown such as cap
of valve (05) , connecting rod or spindle (4), hole (13) in tank cover ,
ring raised around this hole (6) and vent cut (7) in this raised ring.
12
In figure 4, The individual parts of vent valve are shown vent valve
cap (5), connecting rod or spindle , a soft and flexible rubber seal (3)
and hollow plastic block having floating character.
At the time of installation of tank inlet and supply / delivery pipe
installs firstly then tight the cover, over tank after fit vent valve on it.
On the supply of water into tank, its level raised upward, when water
level reaches just near to cover the hollow block (2) also lift upward, by
its floatness. Now, when water touch ceiling of cover the soft rubber
seal (3) also touches the ceiling of cover, because it is fixed at top of
hollow block (2). At this stage the tank is fully filled with water and
there is no way / route to escape it. Because cover of tank is leak proof
with rubber seal (8) and hole (13) in cover is seal with soft rubber seal
(3). By this mechanism water flow stops automatically and no overflow
occur.
On the other hand when water level drops due to supply or delivery, the
floating hollow block (2) also moves towards down and soft rubber seal
(3) also moves downward. The atmospheric air enter through hole(13) in
cover and through vent cut (7) in ring , when water level lowered more,
the cap (5) rests on ring (6). The hollow block (2) hangs in this stage
13
connected with cap (5) by connected rod (4). Cap (5) also checks enter
of rain water and other dirts to tank.
The arrangement described above is perfect for non pumped supply.
If tank feed by motor pump then it is required to automatic switch off
the motor after tank fills.
For this a limit switch (14) placed upon cap (5) with a metal strip
(15). When cap (5) raised maximum then limit switch break electric
circuit and motor switch off automatically. (Limit switch is a device
already present in market.)
