DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
Referring now to the drawings wherein the showings are for the purpose of illustrating a preferred embodiment of the invention only, and not for the purpose of limiting the same,
Now referring to figure -1 to 4, overhead bar locking assembly for vehicles comprises; box section portion(l) at one end of overhead bar (2)which is fixedly mounted on the side body upper bar(3), at the other end of said overhead bar(2) comprising at least two holes(4) at opposite surfaces of said overhead bars for locking of said overhead bar(2), bracket member(5) with holes provided on said bracket in perfect alignment to said holes(4) of said overhead bar to dispose said overhead bar, base plate member(6) fixed on the said side body upper bar(3), rod member(7) configured to be adopted to be fitted in to said base plate member(6) which comprises open recess (11) to accommodate stopper member(8) movably connected to said rod member through the hole provided at the centre of said stopper member(8), said stopper member(8) comprises at least two slot portion(12) substantially opposite to each other for engaging the open recess edges(lO) of said base plate member (6) along which said stopper member is movable longitudinally on said rod member, bush member(9) fitted on one side of said bracket member(5) through which said rod member(7) passes in the locked position.
Said bush member (9) is welded to said bracket member (5). Said bush member is used to guide said rod member (7) and hold said rod member at right position when it is in unlock condition.
Said rod member (7) and stopper member (8) are welded together. At least two slots are made in said stopper member substantially opposite to each other so that it can slide in said base plate member (6) along the open recess edge(10) provided on said base plate member.
Said base plate member is welded to body side upper bar after aligning said rod member in the hole of said stopper member and inserting said stopper slot in the base plate. Position of said base plate member is adjusted before welding it to said side body upper bar to make sure smooth sliding of said rod member along said open recess provided in said base plate member.
Said rod member (7) is touching to upper edge of said base plate member (6) in the locking position. After placing said overhead bar in said bracket, said rod member is to be moved inside to lock said overhead bar.
At extreme end said stopper member will touch the surface of said bush member for locking said rod member.
The rod member is then rotated downwards for locking said overhead bar. In the locked position, end portion of said rod member will touch the lower edge of said base plate member and said end portion of said rod member will rest on the edge of said base plate. For unlocking, operation is followed in reverse manner.
An assembling method of overhead bar locking assembly of a vehicle involves various steps. A box section portion (1) is selected and it is attached on a side body upper bar (3). Selecting of a bracket member (5) and attaching it on said side body upper bar (3) opposite to said box section (1) is attached. A bush member (9) is attached on one side of said bracket member (5) after aligning the hole of said bush member (9) and holes of said bracket member (5). Selecting of a base plate member (6) comprising an open recess (11) and groove provided therein. The base plate
member (6) is attached on said side body upper bar (3) adjacent to said bush member (9) which is attached on said bracket member (5) and opposite to said box section portion (1) is attached, Selecting of a stopper member (8) having at least two slot portion (12) situated opposite to each other and a hole provided at the centre of said stopper member (8) and a rod member (7). The rod member (7) is inserted through the hole provided at the centre of said stopper member (8). The stopper member (8) is fixedly attached at one end of said rod member (7). The disposing of an assembly of said rod member (7) and said stopper member (8) to the open recess (11) of said base plate member (6) to engage the slot portion (12) of said stopper member (8) with an open recess edge (10) of said base plate member (6) so that the other end of said rod member (7) will be in alignment with the hole of said bush member (9).
The foregoing description is a specific embodiment of the present invention. It should be appreciated that this embodiment is described for purpose of illustration only, and that numerous alterations and modifications may be practiced by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. It is intended that all such modifications and alterations be included insofar as they come within the scope of the invention as claimed or the equivalents thereof.
