Abstract: In the event of chockfasting in overhead position air escape plays a crucial role as chockfast filling from the bottom all the air will escape from the top hole and allows chockfast to fill up to the top surface. While doing chockfast with out air escape hole, which can not be provided as S.S inserts are on top the deck chockfast will not be possible as air will not allow chockfast to fill the whole hole and we will not get desired strength.
Field of Invention
This invention relates to development of new process and arrangement of chock
fasting for installation of heavy equipments in way of Stainless Steel insert plate in composite
super structure (CSS). More particularly, the present invention in carbon fibre reinforced
platic composite super structure.
Background Art
04 numbers ASWC Indian Naval ships were been built by GRSE ltd., out of which 02
No's ships were with steel super structure and 02 No's are with CFRP super structure which
is manufacture and supply by M/S SAAB Kockums AB, Sweden. The blocks have been
successfully installed in GRSE with trained personnel.Installation of equipments in CSShaving
various techniques out of which self tapping screw, blind rivet, Steel insert chock fast, Steel
insert lamination. The chock fasting of Steel insert in down hand and over head areas is
having a typical arrangement, but problem araised when over head chockfasting below the
deck and steel inserts of other equipment is on top of the below chockfast on upper
deck. However the position of top deck equipment and the equipment below the deck can not
be changed because of design constraints and practical difficulties.
Object of the invention
The principle object of the present invention is to provide a female part in the overhead
areas where super structure inserts are on the way on deck of ships.
Summary of Invention
The innovation relates to a arrangement of chockfast in which steel insert can be
chock fasted with out changing the positions of both upper and below deck equipments.
(a) To establish over head chock fast insert for erection of seats in CSS while SS
plates obstructing the air escape hole of chock fasting procedure.
(b) To provide a economical, safe and quality solution for sound chockfast for
equipment seats.
Statement of Invention
The challenge in providing an female part in over head areas where S.S inserts are
on the way on deck.
The following procedure adapted while doing chock fastingin way of laminated steel
inserts on top of the deck comprises of-
(a) Fixing & sealing of 6mm pipe for air escape.
(b) Fixing of pipe to acrylic sheet with glasticord.
(c) Cutting the pipe end 45 degree.
(d) Laying of 06 MM pipe and other end of the pipe to be fixed above the deck
level, for ensuring chockfast has filled up to top surface.

Detailed Description
In the event of chockfasting in overhead position air escape plays a crucial role as
chockfast filling from the bottom all the air will escape from the top hole and allows chockfast
to fill up to the top surface. While doing chockfast with out air escape hole, which can not be
provided as S.S inserts are on top the deck chockfast will not be possible as air will not allow
chockfast to fill the whole hole and we will not get desired strength.
Arranging 06 MM pipe for airecape gives us the full desired chockfast and sterength.
The Fig. 1 will illustrate practical arrangements including the glastic cord, 06 MM plastic
pipe and the chockfast filling.
The invention herein disclosesthe arrangement of inserting 06 MM air escape pipe
while doing over head chockfast where air escape on the top of the deck is not possible.
Fig.2 illustrates the chockfast done as desired for full stength.
The pipe end which is going in to the hole is to be cut by 45° so as to avoid chocking
inside while chockfasting. Chockfast has to be done up through the deck level in 06 MM
pipe so as ensure the chockfast touched the inner top of the hole.
Advantages & Uses of the Invention
(a) High mandays involve to drill Complex SS Laminated insert plate.
(b) Equipmet seats can be installed with out disturbing the time schedules of
other department.
(c) Steel insert chockfasting can be done with out drilling the complex SS steel
insert, during the drilling ss plate may got damaged.
(d) Equipment Seats can be erected with out changing position due to design
constraints and practical difficulties.
Although the foregoing description of the present invention has been shown and
described with reference to particular embodiments and applications thereof, it has been
presented for purposes of illustration by way of examples and description and is not intended
to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the particular embodiments and applications
disclosed. The particular embodiments and applications were chosen and described to provide
the best illustration of the principles of the invention and its practical application to thereby
enable one of ordinary skill in the art to utilize the invention in various embodiments and
with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated.
We claim:
1. A process for overhead chock fasting in way of Stainless Steel insert plate in
composite super structure (CSS), the process comprising the steps of:
a) Fixing & sealing of 06 MM pipe for air escape;
b) Fixing of pipe to acrylic sheet with glasticord;
c) Cutting the pipe end 45 degree; and
d) Laying of 06 MM pipe and other end of the pipe to be fixed above the deck
level, for ensuring chockfast has filled up to top surface.
2. The process for overhead chock fasting as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the
pipe end which is going in to the hole is to be cut by 45° eliminates the chance of chocking
inside while chockfasting.
3. The process for overhead chock fasting as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the
said chockfast is done up through the deck level in 06 MM pipe in order to ensure the
chockfast touched the inner top of the hole.
4. An arrangement for chockfasting over head inserts in way of S.S inserts on the
top deck is the invention employing the process as claimed in any of preceding claims.
