Kit for Packaging of Articles/Devices Field of the invention
The present invention relates to packaging, and more particularly, to a kit for packaging of articles and devices such as circuit breakers and other electrical devices.
Background of the invention
Electrical devices such as circuit breakers contain several components and linkages which are very important for functioning thereof. Accordingly, packaging of the circuit breakers must make sure that there is no damage during transit/ storage, loading/unloading impact/jerks and the like. Also, ingress protection is necessary to avoid dust, foreign particles and the like from entering the circuit breakers. Usually, the electrical devices such as circuit breakers are placed/mounted on a base enclosed in a sleeve/carton and remaining space inside the carton is usually filled with buffers. However, the electrical devices such as the circuit breakers being packed have complex shape. Hence, it is difficult to place buffers of definite shapes so that the space around the product is filled which results in a lower level of protection. Further, the current packaging system is not easy to assemble as well as not easy to remove to uncover the electrical device. Further, the conventional packaging system requires time to pack the electrical device such as circuit breaker therein and it's very difficult to remove the electrical device therefrom.
Accordingly, there exists a need to provide packaging system for electrical devices such as circuit breaker which overcomes drawbacks of the prior art.

Objects of the invention
An object of the present invention is to protect electrical devices such as circuit breakers in packaging.
Another object of the present invention is to reduce assembly time, labor and cost of packaging of electrical devices such as circuit breaker.
Summary of the invention
Accordingly, the present invention provides a kit for packaging of electrical devices. The kit comprises a base assembly having a pallet for mounting the electrical device thereon, a sheet configured within the pallet for providing ingress protection and cushioning the electrical device, and a plurality of locators configured along the boundary of the pallet. Further, the kit comprises a sleeve supported on the plurality of locators. The sleeve forms an enclosure for the electrical device. Furthermore, the kit comprises a plurality of stacking blocks supported on the pallet for providing strength to the sleeve and a lid covering the sleeve thereby forming a package.
The kit also comprises foam for filling in the sleeve around the electrical device for providing cushioning to the electrical device.

Figure 6 shows a perspective view of the kit with an electrical device packed therein.
Detailed description of the invention detailed description of the invention
The foregoing objects of the present invention are accomplished and the problems and shortcomings associated with the prior art, techniques and approaches are overcome by the present invention as described below in the preferred embodiment.
The present invention provides a kit for packaging of electrical devices. The kit uses foam or any other padding based packaging which expands to take the shape according to the shape of the product. The kit also requires lesser assembly time. Since the foam is placed within bags, it provides ingress protection as well.
Referring to figures 1-6, there is shown a kit for packaging of electrical devices, such as circuit breaker and various components thereof. Specifically, figure 1 shows an exploded view of the kit (100} for packaging of electrical devices such as circuit breaker (80), and figures 2 and 3 show assembled view of the kit (100).

The kit (100) comprises a base assembly (10), a sleeve (20), a plurality of stacking blocks (30) and a lid (40). The kit (100) further comprises foam (50).
The base assembly (10) as shown in figure 4 comprises a pallet (12) for mounting the electrical device thereon. In an embodiment, the pallet (12) is a wooden pallet. However, it may be evident to those skilled in the art that suitable material such as plastic may be used to form the pallet (12).
The base assembly (10) further comprises a sheet (14) supported within the pallet (12) for providing ingress protection and cushioning the electrical device. In an embodiment, the sheet (14) may be made in any one of fiber and wooden material. Further, the base assembly (10) includes the plurality of locators (16) configured along the boundary of the pallet (12) for holding the sleeve (20). In an embodiment, the plurality of locators (16) is wooden or plastic blocks.
Specifically, the sleeve (20) is supported on the plurality of locators (16) thereby forming an enclosure for the electrical device. In an embodiment, the sleeve (20) is made of cardboard. The plurality of stacking blocks (30) supports the sleeve (20) on the pallet (12) for providing strength thereto. The plurality of stacking blocks (30) is positioned vertically on the pallet (12) on corners thereof for supporting the sleeve (20). In an embodiment, the plurality of stacking blocks (20) is made of L-shaped block made up of corrugated material.
The lid (40) covers the sleeve (20) thereby forming a package with an electrical device placed therein. The lid (40) covers the sleeve (20) from the top. Alternatively, cartons with flaps can also be used.
The kit (100) further includes foam (50) for filling in the enclosure formed by the sleeve (20) around the electrical device for providing cushioning to the electrical

device, such as circuit breaker (SO). The foam (50) is selected from any one of EPE (Expandable Poly Ethylene) buffer and padding filled in bags which takes the shape of the product when filled in the enclosure formed by the sleeve (20). The lid (40) controls the package from bulging when the foam inside the enclosure expands.
The kit (100) also includes straps which help to hold the kit (100) together when assembled.
During packaging of the electrical device, the electrical device such as circuit breaker (80) is placed/mounted on the base assembly (10). Thereafter, the sleeve (20) is placed on the base assembly (10), with the reference of the plurality of locators (16) supporting the sleeve (20). Further, the plurality of stacking blocks (30) are placed at the four corners of the base assembly (10) and the foam bags (50) are placed in the remaining space within the enclosure formed by the sleeve (20) and allowed to expand. The assembly as made above is covered with the lid (40) and is strapped to the base assembly (10), preferably in a perpendicular fashion. Figure 5 shows a cross sectional view of the kit (100) and figure 6 shows the kit (100) with the electrical device packed therein.
Advantages of the invention
1. The kit (100) provides a package for the electrical device where shape of the product is not important, as the foam/ buffer can take the required shape.
2. The kit (100) provides all the components for packaging in one go.

3. The kit (100) provides four way accessibility of the base with optimized material content
4. The kit (100} is compact and light in weight.

5. The kit (100) provides ease of removal of the product from the packing as
there is no need to lift the product from the package.
6. The kit (100) is reusable as the sleeve/ stacking blocks/ paddings can be used
repacking the product.
The foregoing descriptions of specific embodiments of the present invention have been presented for purposes of illustration and description. They are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the present invention to the precise forms disclosed, and obviously many modifications and variations are possible in light of the above teaching. The embodiments were chosen and described in order to best explain the principles of the present invention and its practical application, and to thereby enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the present invention and various embodiments with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated. It is understood that various omissions and substitutions of equivalents are contemplated as circumstances may suggest or render expedient, but such omissions and substitutions are intended to cover the application or implementation without departing from the spirit or scope of the claims of the present invention.
