Abstract: The present subject matter relates to a packaging machine (100) for conveying a plurality of articles. The packaging machine (100) may comprise a platform (102) to deliver the articles from a source to downstream in the packaging machine (100). The packaging machine (100) may further comprise at lease one support member (106) to slide the platform (100). The packaging machine (100) may further comprise an actuator assembly (108) to slide the support member (106). The packaging machine (100) may comprise a cam follower assembly (110) coupled to the actuator assembly (108). The cam follower assembly (110) comprises a cam element (110-1) and a follower assembly (110-2). The follower assembly (110-2) may comprise a roller follower (302) and a follower block (206). The follower block (206) has a cavity (310) to provide access to a fastener (308) that mounts/dismounts the roller follower (302) from the follower block (206).
CLIAMS:1. A packaging machine (100) for conveying a plurality of articles, the packaging machine (100) comprising:
a platform (102) slidable between a first position and a second position along a first direction to deliver the plurality of article from a source to a conveyor;
at least one support member (106) coupled to the platform (102), the support member (106) being actuable to slide the platform (102);
at least one actuator assembly (108) operably coupled to the at least one support member (106), wherein the actuator assembly (108) is to actuate the support member (106) to slide the platform (102);
a cam follower assembly (110) operably coupled to the actuator assembly (108) to operate the actuator assembly (108), the cam follower assembly (110) comprising:
a cam element (110-1) having a groove (202) formed on a lateral face (204), the groove (202) corresponding to a cam profile, wherein the cam element (110-1) is to rotate about a cam axis;
a follower assembly (110-2) to actuate the actuator assembly (108) based on rotation of the cam element (110-1), wherein the follower assembly (110-2) is to reciprocate along a second direction (112), wherein the follower assembly (110-2) comprises:
a roller follower (302) element to travel in the groove (202) of the cam element (110-1) based on the rotation of the cam element (110-1), the roller follower (302) element having a mounting portion (304) for mounting the roller follower (302);
a follower block (206) to removably mount the roller follower (302) by the mounting portion (304); and
a fastener (308) to mount the roller follower (302) by the mounting portion (304),
wherein the follower block (206) is provided with a cavity (310) to provide access to the fastener (308) to mount and dismount the roller follower (302) from the follower block (206); and
a linking member (208) having a first end (210) and a second end, the first end (110) being fixedly coupled to the follower block (206) and the second end being operably coupled to the actuator assembly (108), wherein the linking member (208) is to reciprocate in the second direction (112).
2. The packaging machine (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the actuator assembly (108) is a rack and pinion assembly, the actuator assembly (108) comprising a rack of the rack and pinion assembly and the linking member (208) is a pinion of the rack and pinion assembly.
3. The packaging machine (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the plurality of articles is hinged lid packets.
4. The packaging machine (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the distance between the first position and the second position is of about 25 mm.
5. A follower assembly (110-2) for a packaging machine (100) for displacing a platform (102) between a first position and a second position in a packaging machine (100), the follower assembly (110-2) comprising:
a roller follower (302) element to travel in the groove (202) of the cam element (110-1) based on the rotation of the cam element (110-1), the roller follower (302) element having a mounting portion (304) for mounting the roller follower (302);
a follower block (206) to removably mount the roller follower (302) by the mounting portion (304); and
a fastener (308) to mount the roller follower (302) by the mounting portion (304), wherein the follower block (206) is provided with a cavity (310) to provide access to the fastener (308) to mount and dismount the roller follower (302) from the follower block (206).
6. The follower assembly (110-2) as claimed in claim 5, wherein the packaging machine (100) is to convey a plurality of hinged lid packets from a source to a conveyor.
7. The follower assembly (110-2) as claimed in claim 5, wherein the first position being at a level above the second position.
8. The follower assembly (110-2) as claimed in claim 5, wherein the distance between the first position and the second position is about 25 mm.
