3. PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION:
COMPLETE
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.
Packaging System for Articles
Field of the invention
The present invention relates to padding, and more particularly, to a shock absorber packaging system for articles such as circuit breaker devices.
Background of the invention
Switchgear devices such as circuit breakers, contain several components and linkages which are very important for functioning thereof. Accordingly, packaging of the circuit breakers has to ensure that no damage occurs thereto to inside packaging while transit. There should be no damage to the device during transit/ storage, loading/unloading impact/jerks and the like.
The devices such as circuit breakers are placed/mounted on a base enclosed in a sleeve/carton with space remaining inside. During transit, due to vibrations, the devices mounted on wooden/plastic base experiences jerks/impacts. These impacts get transferred onto product through the base on which it is mounted.
Conventionally, neoprene rubber or similar kinds of rubbers are used as padding material between base and the devices. But due to their limitations of resilient properties, majority of jerks are passed onto the devices, leaving the devices damaged.
Accordingly, there exists a need to provide packaging system for electrical devices such as circuit breaker which overcomes drawbacks of the prior art.
Object of the invention
An object of the present invention is to ensure safety of electrical devices during transit
Summary of the invention
Accordingly, the present invention provides a packaging system for articles. The packaging system comprises a base plate having a plurality of holes configured thereon, and a padding configured over the base plate for absorbing shocks during transit. The padding includes a plurality of openings configured thereon. The plurality of openings of the padding corresponds to the plurality of holes of the base plate for securing the padding to the base plate by means of a fixing means.
Typically, the padding is made of one or more cross linked polyethylene foam sheet.

Detailed description of the invention
The foregoing objects of the present invention are accomplished and the problems and shortcomings associated with the prior art, techniques and approaches are overcome by the present invention as described below in the preferred embodiment.
The present invention provides a packaging system for articles. The present inventions specifically refer to the packaging system for electrical devices such as circuit breakers. The packaging system reduces jerks to the article mounted thereon during transit thereby ensuring safety of the product during transit.
Referring to figure 1 2a and 2b, there is shown a packing system (100) for articles. The packing system (100] includes a base plate (10). The base plate (10) includes plurality of holes (not shown) configured thereon. In an embodiment, the base plate (10) is made of any one of wood and plastic.
Further, the packaging system (100) includes padding (20) as shown in figure 1. The padding (20) is capable of being mounted over the base plate (10) for absorbing shocks during transit. The padding includes a plurality of openings (22) configured thereon. The plurality of openings (22) corresponds to the plurality of holes of the base plate (10). The padding (10) is secured to the base plate (20) by fixing means. In an embodiment, the fixing means includes any one of adhesive, nails, and nut and bolt
Specifically, the padding (20) is made of one or more cross linked polyethylene foam sheets. The cross linked polyethylene foam sheets acts as shock
absorbing padding material for the articles mounted thereon, for example a switchgear products (30) as shown in figure 3.
The cross-linked polyethylene foam (PEX or XLPE) is a form of polyethylene with cross-links. Specifically, the cross linked polyethylene foam is made in rectangular foam shape in accordance with the present invention. The rectangular shaped foam facilitates uniform load distribution over its surface. In an embodiment, the cross linked polyethylene foam is made in the of form polygonal shape of padding.
Thickness and length of cross-linked polyethylene foam sheet is based on weight of the article and outer dimensions of the articles to be mounted thereon.
Once the padding (20) is secured to the base plate (10), the product (30) is placed at its desired position on the padding (20). Specifically, surface (20a) of the padding (20) where the product (30) is kept, facilitates the product's base (32) from having no abrasion marks.
More specifically, due to high flexibility and compression strength, the padding (20) gets compressed when the product (30) is subjected to jerks or shocks during transit. Whenever the base plate (10) on which the product (30) is mounted, experiences jerk, these jerks is absorbed by padding (20) i.e. by cross linked polyethylene foam sheet by undergoing compression. Whenever jerks are experienced, the padding [11] by virtue its elastic nature undergo compression and again get restored to its original shape. So, shock impact is prevented from getting transferred onto the product (30) thereby ensuring safety of thereof.
In an embodiment, the padding (20) includes a plurality of cross linked polyethylene foam sheets stacked together.
Advantages of the invention
1. The packaging system (100) provides reliable protection to the article during transit and even when product is kept at one place.
2. The packaging system (100) includes cross linked polyethylene foam which provides complete cushioning to the article packed therein. The cross linked polyethylene foam has high compression strength which results in its own compression keeping product safe from transit impacts.
3. The packaging system (100) prevents product's base from abrasion marks occurring due to friction.
4. The packaging system (100) is light in weight and eventually contributes for lighter weight of packed product.
5. The packaging system (100) provides ease of assembly
The foregoing object the invention is accomplished and the problems and shortcomings associated with prior art techniques and approaches are overcome by the present invention described in the present embodiment. Detailed descriptions of the preferred embodiment are provided herein; however, it is to be understood that the present invention may be embodied in various forms. Therefore, specific details disclosed herein are not to be interpreted as limiting, but rather as a basis for the claims and as a representative basis for teaching one skilled in the art to employ the present invention in virtually any appropriately detailed system, structure, or matter.
The embodiments of the invention as described above and the methods disclosed herein will suggest further modification and alterations to those skilled in the art. Such further modifications and alterations may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
