PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is performed.
FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to pallet containers which are used for the transportation of liquid dangerous goods and more specifically to a clinching cover surrounding the horizontal tube clinching of the outer cage.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Pallet containers are used for transportation of liquid dangerous goods. Pallet containers consist of outer cage made out of hollow steel tubes welded at their intersections, fixed on a pallet and holding a replaceable plastics bottle/ inner container having one filling opening on top and one emptying/discharge valve at bottom.
Pallet containers have a volume of 800-1250 1 preferable 1000 1.
Pallet containers are consisting of 3 main components mainly inner container, a hollow tube outer cage and a pallet. These 3 components are put together by screws, bolts and nuts. The formation of the outer cage is using hollow profile tubes in grid format to make horizontal and vertical member of the grid. The horizontal member is rectangular ring where both the ends are slided one inside the other and crimped or clinched to remain in position under impact and pressure. The crimping or clinching is always sharp and can pierce the inner container and can also cause injury while handling the pallet container. This is a perennial problem in pallet containers.
In industrial applications, pallet containers have to pass a governmental approval including a design type test and fulfill various quality controls. For example the design type test includes an interior pressure test and a drop test in which the pallet container is dropped from specified height .Pallet containers are preferably used for
the transport of liquids. When transporting the filled pallet container in particular by truck, the filled in liquid is prone to considerable gushing motions which are generated by transport shocks, such as for example when a truck rides on bumpy roads. Thus, constantly changing pressure forces are exerted on the inner container interior walls, which in turn lead to radial vibration motion of the outer cage and results in continuous dynamic vibration stress on the outer cage.
Depending of the design of the outer cage, especially during long transport over bad roads, vibrational stress builds up to such an extent that the outer cage tubes gets fatigued and cracks occurs on the clinching of the horizontal tubes. The cracks in addition with the sharp clinching can pierce the inner container and can also cause injury while handling the pallet container.
The clinching of the horizontal tubes is according the state of art in the middle of the pallet container backside where the vibration motions are highest.
PRIOR ART
The clinching of horizontal tubes of the outer cage is state of art for the connection of both horizontal tube ends. The clinching is done by 2/3/4 teeth which squeeze the tubes ends together. By the squeezing operation sharp edges can occur, those edges are a risk of injuries, they can damage the inner container during transportation and also during inner container insertion.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The main object of the present invention is to obviate the above drawbacks.
Another object of the present invention is to provide clinching cover over the clinching of the horizontal tubes of the pallet containers.
- Yet another object of the present invention is to provide clinching cover over the clinching of the horizontal tubes of the pallet containers to protect the clinching area against moisture and rusting.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
According to present application pallet containers are used for the transportation of liquid dangerous goods. Pallet containers consist of outer cage made out of hollow steel tubes fixed on a pallet holding a replaceable bottle/inner container with one filling and one emptying opening.
The formation of the outer cage is using hollow profile tubes in grid format to make horizontal and vertical member of the grid. The horizontal member is rectangular hollow tube ring where both the ends are slided one inside the other and clinched to remain in position under impact and pressure. The clinching is always sharp and can pierce the inner container during his insertion in the outer cage, during the pallet container transportation and can also cause injury while handling the pallet container. The clinching cover will be placed over the clinching of the horizontal
tubes to avoid injuries. The clinching cover can be used for the application of customer logos and to protect the clinching area against moisture and rusting.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Referring now to the drawings wherein the showings are for the purpose of illustrating a preferred embodiment of the invention only, and not for the purpose of limiting the same.
FIG. 01 shows a pallet container (1) according the invention. Pallet containers (1) for liquids are comprising an inner, plastics container (2) equipped with a filling opening (3) closable by a screw cap (4) and a discharge valve both with a hermetic seal, protected by an outer cage (7) and resting on a pallet (6).The outer cage (7) is built by vertical (8) and horizontal (9) steel tubes fastened at their intersections .Outer cage (7) and inner container (2) are placed on a pallet (6), the outer cage (7) is bolted to the pallet (6).
The formation of the outer cage (7) is using hollow profiled circular, square or rectangular tubes in grid format to make horizontal and vertical member of the grid. The outer cage (7) is made out of hollow steel tubes such as vertical tubes (8) and horizontal tubes (9) .The horizontal member is rectangular tube ring where both the ends (10) are slided one inside the other and clinched together forming a clinching area (11) to remain in position under impact and pressure. The clinching (11) is done in a single stroke operation giving perforated design by squeezing the overlapped tube ends (10) together. While squeezing the tube ends (10) the height of the tube ends (10) is reduced to generate zig zag formation as shown in FIG 02. The outside of the zig zag formation (12) is always sharp and can pierce the inner container (2) and also cause human injury while handling the pallet containers.
The present invention provides a clinching cover (20) as shown at FIG 03 for the clinching area (11), a simple method to cover sharp corners developed in the
crimping/clinching area (11). Retaining clips (22) with one protrusion are provided on top and bottom part of open side (26) of the clinching cover and at one end of the clinching cover (20) which is covering 2/3rd of the length and Vi the width. The height of the protrusion (22) is approximately 2-3 mm. When the clinch cover (20) is mounted on the clinched area (11), the protrusion on retaining clips (22) fits on the slope of the clinch and prevents clinching cover to slide axially. The protrusion on retaining clips (22) is provided only on one end of the clinching cover which gradually goes on reducing longitudinally along the length of the clinch cover (20). The protrusion on retaining clips (22) is configured to be fixed/engaged/locked in the groove (25) of the clinched portion. The provided clinching cover (20),designed as U-shaped sleeve with retaining clips, is injection molded, made out of plastics or suitable hard material and is slided over the clinching area (11) of horizontal tubes (9) which interlocks with the retaining clips (22) such that retaining clips (22) are fitted in a groove (25) of the clinching area (11). So that the clinching cover (20) does not move and remain in lock position over the clinched area. A resilient strip (27) from inside is provided on each top and bottom part of the clinching cover. The strips (27) are placed over the zig zag formation (12) of the clinching area (11) to restrict the horizontal movement of the tube ends. This clinching cover (20) stays and covers the whole clinching area (11), does not fall unless someone removes this. One open side (26) is provided on the clinching cover (20) for clipping it on the horizontal tubes (9).The clinching cover (20) covers and protects the clinching area (11) as shown at FIG 04 against water accumulation, moisture and rust. This clinching cover (20) also protects human beings from injury. The clinching covers (20) will be slided over the clinching area (11) of the horizontal tube (9) prior to the insertion of the inner container (2).This insures that the inner container (2) will not be damaged by sharp edges of the clinching area (11) during his insertion. The customer's logo (24) can also be placed on these clinching covers (20) to give additional identification of customers on pallet containers (1).
FIG. 05 and FIG. 06 are illustrating possible positions of the clinching cover (20) on the horizontal tube (9).The clinching cover (20) can be pushed horizontal, FIG. 05 or vertical, FIG. 06 over the horizontal tube (9).The vertical insertion of a clinching cover (20) in different colors can also be used on the horizontal tubes (9) on the pallet container (1) front for simple filling good identification.
