PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is performed.
Field of invention:
This invention relates to pallet containers which can be used for transportation of liquid dangerous goods and more specifically to his outer cage wherein the connection of horizontal and vertical tubes at intersection points are done by riveting.
Background of invention:
Pallet containers are used for transportation of liquid dangerous goods. Pallet containers consist of outer cage made out of hollow steel tubes welded at their intersections, fixed on a pallet and holding a replaceable thin-walled rigid plastics bottle/ inner container having one filling opening on top and one emptying/discharge valve at bottom.
Pallet containers are consisting of 3 main components mainly inner container, a hollow
tube outer cage and a bottom pallet. These 3 components are put together by screws,
bolts and nuts.
The hollow tube outer cage structure is made of horizontal and vertical steel tubes which
are joined together by resistance welding or arc welding at their intersections.
Pallet containers are preferably used for the transport of liquids. When transporting the
filled pallet container in particular by truck, the filled in liquid is prone to considerable
gushing motions which are generated by transport shocks, such as for example when a
truck rides on bumpy roads. Thus, constantly changing pressure forces are exerted on the
inner container interior walls, which in turn lead to radial vibration motion of the outer
cage and results in continuous dynamic vibration stress on the outer cage.
Depending of the design of the outer cage, especially during long transport over bad
roads, vibrational stress builds up to such an extent that the outer cage tubes gets fatigued
and cracks occurs on the welding of the tubes.
Normally during transportation pallet containers are kept one above the other. The outer
cage of the lower pallet container has to carry complete load (approx. 1100 kg min.) of
upper pallet container, the welds of the top horizontal tube with the vertical tubes of the
lower pallet container have the highest shear stress and when the welds cracks up because
of load, vertical tubes start opening up and can pierce the upper pallet inner container
making it leak and contents spills over. Another problem with welded tubes is that in
corrosive atmosphere, weld joints gets corroded and starts releasing red substance which contaminates the whole pallet container, the pallet container becomes dirty and weak and gives very short service level.
Objects of the invention:
The main object of the present invention is to obviate the above drawbacks.
Another object of the present invention is to provide pallet containers with better long
term resistance against the repetitive shocks occurring during the transport of the filled
pallet containers.
Another object of the present invention is to provide pallet containers with the connection
of the outer cage tubes done by riveting.
Another object of the present invention is to provide pallet containers with the connection
of the outer cage tubes done by resistance welding and additional riveting.

vertical/horizontal tubes joint against environmental pollution and bad climatically
condition.
