[0034] The present invention relates to a sustainable double closure paper pouch for packaging items in a robust and commercially practical way having parallelly running reinforcable sticky strips for back-to-back sealing of the mouth of the paper bag in a secure, temper evident and spillage free manner.

[0035] The double closure paper pouch (hereinafter referred to as double closure paper bag) is poised to revolutionize the packaging industry by addressing the shortcomings of existing methods. Its unique design combines a tamper-evident closure system with spillage-free functionality, providing a secure and reliable packaging solution. In the subsequent sections, we shall delve into the construction and working of the as double closure paper bag, exploring how it fulfills the outlined objectives.

[0036] Figure 1 illustrates an exemplary unfolded/open flat blank view of the paper pouch having three holes of holding cutouts, according to an embodiment of the present invention.

[0037] Referring to Figure 1, the double closure paper bag comprises a first wall (1) and a second wall (2) that are joined along the elongated edges to define the inner packaging cavity (5). The area expandable within the inner packaging cavity (5) is defined by an expansion fold (3) covering a bottom side of the inner packaging cavity (5).

[0038] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the first wall (1) is the front sheet (1) of the paper bag, the second wall (2) is the rear sheet (2) of the paper bag and the expansion fold (3) is the gusset (3) joining the bottom side of the front sheet (1) and the rear sheet (2).

[0039] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the shape of the paper bag may be but not limited to rectangular, square, trapezoidal, and a combination of trapezoid and rectangle. In an instance, the shape of the paper bag is prepared by die cutting the paper material to create the structure of the bag.

[0040] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the paper bag may be of any colour such as white, brown, black, and any thickness of the sheet. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the paper bag may be composed of a tearable or a non-tearable form. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the paper bag may be laminated or non-laminated. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the paper bag may have any size depending on the space required by items meant to be stored therewithin.

[0041] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the inner packaging cavity (5) defined by the adhesion of the front sheet (1) and the rear sheet (2) from the elongated sides is covered from the bottom side thoroughly and completely by the expansion fold (3).

[0042] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the expansion fold (3) is the gusset (3), wherein the size of the gusset (3) ranges from 50-60 millimeters. According to an embodiment, the gusset is designed in a manner that it offers advantages such as increased storing capacity of the paper bag, improved stability of the paper bag, and enhanced presentation of the paper bag. Additionally, the gusset (3) contributes to a more visually appealing and organized display when presented on the display shelves to customers, making thereof commercially apt.

[0043] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the surface of the front sheet (1) and the rear sheet (2) is capable of multi colour printing thereon. Further, the double closure paper bag disclosed in the present disclosure excludes any folds in the paper for closure of the bag, thus making printing thereon a convenient task. In an instance, the printing on the paper bag involves application of specialized ink formulations comprising environmental friendly components of printing with enhanced colour vibrancy. In an instance, half tone printing is used to reproduce continuous tone images such as photographs or gradients and provides visually appealing representations of images.

[0044] The double closure paper bag for packaging items in a robust and commercially practical way comprises parallelly running reinforcable sticky strips (i.e. a pair of adherable strips) (4a, 4b) for back-to-back sealing of mouth of the paper bag. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the pair of adherable strips (4a, 4b) run parallelly on an upper side of the front sheet (1) and/or the rear sheet (2).

[0045] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the pair of the strips (4a, 4b) are made adherable by the application of hotmelt glue thereon. The strips (4a, 4b) are in pair and parallel purposely. One of the strips (4a, 4b) in the pair is a primary closure strip (4a) designed to securely seal and encase the bag's contents therewithin and prevent external elements from entering. The secondary closure strip (4b) enhances sealing and creates a robust and temper-evident closure of the paper bag in order to avoid spillage of the liquid items (if any).

[0046] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the strips (4a, 4b) being further covered by a release paper tap such that severing the release paper tap enables adhesion of the upper side of the front sheet (1) and the rear sheet (2) via the parallel running glued strips (4a, 4b) as a duplexing arrangement/back-to-back adhesion. According to an embodiment of the present invention, coverage by the release paper tap ensures quick and effective bonding upon contact with the bag’s surface.

[0047] Hereabove, the duplexing arrangement/back-to-back adhesion means joining the inner of the upper side of the front sheet (1) and the rear sheet (2) together, without any folds, in an inseparable manner, to make a thick single sheet on the upper side. In an instance, the non-folding of the paper helps in convenient multi-colour printing of the paper bag as well. The natural look and feel of paper bags with multi-colour printing, whereby, can also enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of the product.

[0048] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the thickness of the release paper tap is appropriately wider than the thickness of the glued strips to cover up the glued strips completely and thoroughly. Effective and proper covering of the glued strips under the release paper taps ensures quick and effective bonding upon contact with the bag’s surface upon tearing/severing of the release paper taps.

[0049] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the bag further comprises holding structures (6) (hereinafter written as holding cutouts (6)) cut between the pair of adherable strips (4a, 4b) for holding thereof. Referring to Figure 1, an exemplary unfolded/open flat blank view of the paper pouch having three holes of holding cutouts (6), according to an embodiment of the present invention.

[0050] Referring to Figure 2, an exemplary folded/closed view of the paper pouch is illustrated having three holes of holding cutouts, according to an embodiment of the present invention. The items to be sealed packed in the disclosed packaging are inserted within the internal packaging area (5). Once all the items are inserted, glued strips on the upper side of the front sheet (1) and the rear sheet (2) are adhered together by severing the release paper tap off the parallelly running hotmelt glued strips.

[0051] Figure 3 illustrates an exemplary unfolded/open flat blank view of the paper pouch having an oval holding cutout (6), according to an embodiment of the present invention. Further, Figure 4 illustrates an exemplary folded/closed view of the paper pouch having oval holding cutout, according to an embodiment of the present invention. A person having average skill in the art would appreciate the fact that the holding cutouts (6) may vary in shape for example three circles to hold three main fingers for holding the bag, an oval shape holding cutout (6) for holding the bag, square, rectangular of circular shape, but not limited thereto.

[0052] It is to be mentioned for clarity that front sheet (1) may also be referred as first wall (1), rear sheet (1) may also be referred as second wall (2), internal packaging area (5) may also be referred as inner packaging cavity (5), gusset (3) may also be referred as expansion fold (3), glued strips (4a, 4b) may also be referred as reinforcable sticky strips (4a, 4b), and holding cutouts (6) may also be referred as holding structures (6), for the purposes of the above disclosure.
