Abstract: A control unit (4) transmits an initial value of a position ID to a cassette control unit (7) at the beginning of a daisy chain formed using a serial line (8). Then if the cassette control unit (7) receives a position ID from the control unit (4) or a cassette control unit (7) in the preceding stage in the daisy chain, the receiving cassette control unit (7) recognizes the position ID as one assigned to the cassette thereof. If a cassette control unit (7) is succeeded by another cassette control unit (7) in the daisy chain, the preceding cassette control unit (7) calculates a position ID for the succeeding cassette control unit (7), and transmits the calculated position ID to the succeeding cassette control unit (7).
