PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification describes the invention

FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to parking brake of an automotive vehicle and more particularly this relates to parking brake mounting system.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Parking brakes are generally provided in an automobile to hold the vehicle in gradients and to provide an emergency braking whenever required. It is also one of the important regulatory requirements of a vehicle.
In conventional parking brakes actuator is mounted on floor between the driver's seat and co-driver's seat which needs suitable projection and strong reinforcement on floor requires considerable space. In addition, reinforcements are required on floor to mount parking brake cable.
OBJECTS OF INVENTION
The main object of this invention is to provide a compact and strong parking brake mounting system for a vehicle.
Yet another object of this invention is to provide a parking brake mounting system for a vehicle which is simple in construction and cost effective.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
Parking brake mounting system for a vehicle in accordance with this invention basically comprises of a mounting bracket assembly for parking brake actuator and holding bracket for parking brake cable. Said mounting bracket assembly comprises at least three holes and one elliptical slot on the base surface which incorporates means for mounting the parking brake actuator and providing


provision to connect the one end of the parking brake lever to the parking brake cable and edges welded firmly to the cross member of the seat frame. The holding bracket for holding the parking brake cables comprises four holes; two holes on side wall for cable holding, one on base surface to fix the bracket on floor and one on base surface as a relief hole.
In another aspect, this invention features a mounting bracket assembly for mounting parking brake actuator having parking brake lever between the front seats i.e., left hand side of the driver on the seat frame and the holding bracket for parking brake cables on base of the seat frame mounting leg. The parking brake actuator mounting bracket assembly having mounting holes for mounting and incorporates means for mounting parking brake actuator thereto with its operating lever actuates longitudinally on the vehicle. The bracket for holding parking brake cables is having two holes for holding parking brake cables, one hole on base surface for fitting on the floor board and another on base surface act as a relief hole which helps proper seating of the mounting leg to the wall of the bracket while welding them together.
The second object of this invention is to provide dual purpose bracket to hold the parking brake cables and to support the seat frame mounting leg. This invention makes things simple, economical by providing a strong single bracket for those two functions.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
Referring now to the drawings wherein the showings are for the purpose of illustrating a preferred embodiment of the invention only, and not for the purpose of limiting the same,
Referring to the drawing FIG. 1 the mounting bracket [1] of parking brake actuator is provided on the cross members [3, 4] of the seat frame in between the front passenger's seat and co-driver's seat.
As illustrated in FIGS. 1, 2, 3 and 4, Mounting bracket [1] is a 'U' shaped bent steel plate with stiffeners [5, 6] having three holes [7, 8, 9] with weld nuts [26, 27, 28] to firmly fit the legs [10, 11, 12] of the parking brake actuator assembly [13] and elliptical slot [14] provides a provision for actuation of the parking brake connecting lever mechanism [13]. The upward extensions of the parking brake actuator mounting bracket [16, 17] are welded to the cross members of the seat frame [3,4].
An operating handle [18] of parking brake is hinged by a rivet [19] to the ratchet [15]. Handle [18] houses a pawl [21] that cooperates with a ratchet [15] to maintain handle in brake applied position. Handle also carries a release knob [20] for disengaging the pawl [21] from the ratchet [15] tooth to release the parking brake.
As illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 4, parking brake mounting bracket base surface [22] incorporates three circular mounting holes [7, 8, 9] and one elliptical slot [14]. Parking brake actuator [13] is mounted on parking brake mounting bracket [1] by three screws [23, 24, 25] fastened to three weld nuts [26, 27, 28], one in front [25] and two [23, 24] in rear. The elliptical slot [14] provides sufficient space for actuation of parking brake actuator [13]. Parking brake actuator assembly [13] is mounted on bracket [1]. Bracket is a steel stamping formed generally in the shape of 'U' with stiffeners [5, 6] having a base part


connecting to three legs [10, 11, 12] of the ratchet [21] of parking brake assembly [13]. One end of the parking brake handle [20] is connected to the adjustment screw [29] and the cables of parking brake are connected to the equalizer [30] coming through the cable holding bracket [2]. Outer sleeve [44] of parking brake cable is held firmly on cable holding bracket [2]. As illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 5, Parking brake cable holding bracket [2] is supported on seat frame mounting leg [31]. The cable holding bracket [2] is a 'L' shaped bent steel plate having two holes [32, 33] on the base surface [34] and two holes [35, 36] with slits on the wall surface [37]. One hole [32] of parking cable holding bracket on base surface receives the screw [38] which fastened with weld nut provides a secure holding with the center tunnel [39] of the floor [40] and the seat frame mounting leg [31] welds to the wall [34] of the cable holding bracket with the support of relief hole [33] area. The wall portion [37] of the 'L' shaped holding bracket having two holes [35, 36] with slits provides insertion of parking brake cables [41, 42]. The bent portion [43] provided on wall portion of parking brake cable holding bracket to attain sufficient strength while welding to seat frame leg.
The foregoing description is a specific embodiment of the present invention. It should be appreciated that this embodiment is described for purpose of illustration only, and that numerous alterations and modifications may be practiced by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. It is intended that all such modifications and alterations be included insofar as they come within the scope of the invention as claimed or the equivalents thereof.
