COMPLETE SPECIFICATION
PAT GLOVE
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed:
Technical Field of Invention: The current invention relates to gloves for personal hygiene and safety. The invention specifically relates to gloves which adhere to the surface only from one side that is on the palm of the hand. The invention more specifically relates to gloves which stick to the surface to be in contact with the external materials like contaminants, paints, grease, oil, blood etc and not covering entire hand and back of hand which in many cases does not come in contact with any dirty and unhygienic surfaces
Background of the invention and the prior art: Manufacture of pharmaceuticals, electronics, optical parts and the and even some day to day chores generally require use of protective gloves for general work and certain steps of each respective process. The use of protective gloves is in settings where the hand is likely to be soiled, contaminated or cause soiling or contamination to an object to be handled, such as the health care industry, cosmetic industry certain manufacturing processes and the like. The protective gloves serve to protect the user from the object handled and the handled object from the user.
There are hundreds of types and varieties of hand gloves in use today in use in various applications and used in different trades, industries and professions. There are approximately 500 different types of hand gloves in use. These are made of different materials such as non-pyrogenic flexible materials such as, rubber, vinyl, latex, cotton fabric, plastic, leather, silk, metallic components and Kevlar etc. These gloves are used for industrial, health care and sports, defence services etc. The gloves are generally sold as loose individual gloves, or as sterile, pre-packaged gloves prepared in a clean environment in multiple clean bags.
Most of the gloves in use today are those which cover and protect entire palm and nearby area including wrist and fingers and back of the hand. However covering area more than required to be protected makes the wearer uncomfortable and also switching between "protection required" and "no protection required" areas becomes very tedious.
Several protective gloves have been manufactured in the prior art like US 6,360,373 discloses a protective glove having removable outer layers with substantially contaminant free inner glove having at least one outer layer. The outer layer has a shape of the glove and is frangibly fused to a selected side of the inner glove. The outer layer material has a lower melt temperature than the inner glove material and can be easily peeled from the inner glove immediately prior to a use requiring the glove to be substantially contaminant free.
There are other types of gloves with only front part of the fingers open and exposed, there are others which cover only the hand and all the fingers are exposed.
Certain attempts have been made in prior art to make gloves restricted to one area of contact however then their use is limited to that particular area for which it is designed for.
US 5,819, 765 disclose a rubber glove for one finger of a hand for oral hygiene.
German patent document DE-A-3232313 discloses a rubber glove for the finger of a hand, that comprises an active area with tufts of bristles or a series of small rubber nodules or depressions filled with dentifrice or medicinal paste.
U.S. Pat. No. 5.444,874 teaches a glove having a series of three opening flaps along the wrist and lower hand portions. While opening the flaps may improve the dexterity of the remaining gloves thumb and fingers, these portions must be removed when the wearer desires the full dexterity of a bare hand. Thus, the wearer must go through the elaborate process of opening the three flaps as well as removing the finger-covering portion in an additional step.
U.S. Pat. No. 4,651,350 appears to teach a partially removable glove with a flap that covers the thumb and a separate flap or pouch that cover the remaining four fingers. While the thumb covering flap has a seam opening for uncovering only a portion of the thumb, the finger-covering flap is a mitten for all four fingers. The mitten portion flap folds over the back of the hand when the four fingers are exposed, resulting in a seam across the palm. If the seam does not have overlapping fabric from both sides, it is subject to leakage or water, ice and snow, as well as simply drafts. If the palm seam deploys a physical closure or layers of overlapping fabric from both side this extra bulk will interfere with the wearer's grip when the fingers are not exposed. Further, as this glove deploys two separate finger protective flaps, it requires more effort and dexterity to remove and replace with the other hand gloved.
It is generally observed that the process of wearing of gloves is a little bit tedious requires use of both hands to put on the gloves involves turning and twisting of hands and sometimes the act of pulling the glove fingers over the fingers. All this requires at least 30 to 60 seconds. Also certain gloves require "donning systems for gloves" as in US 6497340 and also in US4889266 which is sort of a disadvantage and raises costs. Further to overcome the problem of coming in contact with the contaminant while removing the glove which the user was avoiding U.S. Pat. No. 4,876,747 to Coffey et al. (1989) describes a glove with a raised loop attached to the wrist portion, so that the glove can be removed more easily by hooking the loop and peeling the glove off.
Accordingly the requirement of the prior art is a type of glove which has to be worn only on the area of contact and not entire palm (hand) thereby reducing the discomfort of the user during switching, time in wearing and taking off. The OPEZ gloves (Pat Glove)which the inventor has designed overcomes the limitations of the prior art and providing convenience of ease, time of wearing, taking off and switching between contaminant and non contaminant areas. OPEZ gloves (Pat Gloves) disclosed also avoid the limitation of separate donning systems also reducing the operating costs especially useful for small scale chemical industries etc where contamination risk is high while budgets for personnel safety is minimal. Further the use of OPEZ gloves (Pat Gloves) reduces the amount of the trash generated as compared to general gloves hence the cost and energy in recycling and the disposal of the discard is also reduced. OPEZ is useful in handling of cameras, lenses, photometry equipments, films, negatives, slides, CDs, Crystal glass, jewellery in health care and hospitality industry and for such things which should not be touched by bare hands. It is also useful in handling DVDs, momentary handling of exotic birds and small animals and insects.
The objective of the invention: The main objective of the current invention is to overcome the limitations of the prior art and provide a glove that can stick just to the exposed palm and fingers "to be in contact with contaminant" surface. It is further objective of the invention to
provide a glove which can stick only on the palm and fingers on the lower side of the hand palm thus can be worn and removed quickly and easily. Yet another objective of the invention is to provide a glove that reduces the operating cost, cost of recycling the glove trash. Another objective of the invention is to provide glove useful for handling or for working on assembly of precision and delicate components of electronic items and where cleanliness and use of bare hands is not advisable or permitted. Another objective of the invention is to describe composition, working, deployment of OPEZ gloves.
Summary of the invention: In the present invention first object is achieved by providing Pat Gloves which covers by sticking to the entire palm, fingers and a little portion of the wrist.
According to another objective of the invention Pat Gloves is made of layer of soft paper, crepe paper, thin cotton fabric like muslin or a sheet of manmade fibre like nylon, polyester over which is a layer of impermeable ultra thin plastic polythene.
According to the yet another objective of the invention the Pat gloves may be discarded by taking them off manually or alternatively by way of vacuum suction or air pressure.
According to yet another objective of the invention OPEZ can also be pulled out by magnetic force by incorporating a thin metallic film in the center of Patglove fitted over palm.
The above and other objects, effects, features and advantages of the current invention will become more apparent form the following description of the embodiments thereof.

Detailed description of the invention
In accordance with the current invention following is the detailed description of working, composition, working, deployment and use of Pat gloves.
Pat glove is a half glove or covering for palm, fingers and wrist only. It is not a glove entirely covering the hand which is palm, fingers, back of the hand and part of the wrist. Pat glove covers or shields the entire palm, fingers and a little portion of the wrist as shown in Fig 1.
The front portion of Pat glove like a cap or a thimble covers finger tips for providing a gentle grip over the finger tips this holds the Patglove (Fig 2) in place over palm and fingers while the hand is used and also covers finger tips safe from exposure and contamination. After the use is over Patgloves can be pulled out from palms and discarded.
Patglove will stick, attach, and cover palm, fingers and some part of the wrist by means of non sticking, non smearing harmless self adhesive surface. Patglove has bent outer edges which snuggly fit over the round contours of the hand and fingers as in Fig 1.
Patglove is used, attached, or covers the palm and fingers by pressing down the palm with fingers open and extended over the Patglove which is shaped like a palm.
An elastic flexible extension holding over the wrist keeps Patglove in place while it is required to keep the palm and fingers covered.
Patglove is for quick and rapid wearing or attachment or sticking to the palm and fingers and some portion of the wrist.
Patglove is made of layer of soft paper, crepe paper, thin cotton fabric like muslin or a sheet of manmade fibre like nylon, polyester over which is a layer of impermeable ultra thin plastic polythene as shown in fig 3. The thickness of each layer may be tailor made depending on the nature of work in the area where it is supposed to be used.
The process of using/wearing Patglove can be either manual or mechanised.
In manual process both palms are gently pressed over a Patglove and these fit over palms and fingers to give a temporary protection in toilets, laboratories, casual handling of abrasive material, attending patients or in handling food and beverages.
There can be a mechanical dispensing of Patglove alternatively. For mechanized dispensing a long sheet of paper or flexible plastic like thin PVC, polyurethane or some such material having Pat Gloves incorporated into it or externally attached to it. This whole sheet is rolled up and fitted in a motorised dispenser which can be wall mounted. This dispenser fitted with an electronic sensor to get activated when a user approaches it. The roll with hundreds of Patglove appears in front, and the user pats his hands over Palm shaped Patglove to cover his/her palms. The process repeats when the next user approaches the dispenser.
After the use Patglove can be pulled out and safely discarded.
When the user wants to dispose off the Patglove after use he can either pull OPEZ out with his hands or approaches which pulls the Patglove out from his palms by way of vacuum suction or air pressure.
Patglove can also be pulled out by magnetic force by incorporating a thin metallic film in the center of Patglove fitted over palm.
To remove and discard Patglove the user has to approach a small garbage can or disposal box which pulls out Patglove from the hands of the user by electromagnetic force pulling at the thin metallic film attached in the centre of Patglove. After the Patglove is detached and removed from the palm it falls in the garbage can.
Advantages of the current invention
1. The Patgloves cover only limited area thus increasing the users comfort.
2. Time taken to switch between situations where gloves required and gloves not required is reduced.
3. Costs of the gloves will be reduced with size.
4. Amount of trash generated is reduced.
5. Cost and energy for recycling the discarded Pat gloves is reduced.
6. Cost for separate machines for donning and discarding is optional. Hence the Patgloves are ideal for medium and small scale industries where space is also a constraint for installation of such devices.
