FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention generally relates to handheld device for supporting mobility of an user being seamlessly integrated with the enterprise BX network. More particularly, the invention relates to an integrated system operable in a private GSM-based wireless network to monitor and control communications between wireless and wire-line hand-held devices for voice, data & video applications as wireless extensions of the PBX as a building/ campus wide solution.
Present invention will facilitate GPS, GPRS & voice based services seamlessly across wired & wireless subscribers of the system.
Present invention allows roaming services to GSM customers of one or more mobile service provider in the city.
Present invention may allow or may restrict such roaming customers of mobile service providers to access private extensions & features of the private network.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
A cordless telephone system generally includes a portable cordless handset and a cordless base station which is connected to a service provider's phone system by a landline. The cordless base station has an assigned landline telephone number which allows the user to place and receive calls utilizing the cordless portable handset within a limited range of the base station cordless of the telephone, such as within a home or office. However, due to the limited mobility range of a cordless portable handset, the user is allowed with substantially lower leverage to conduct al radio-telephone communication.
Nevertheless, radio-telephone communication outside the range of a cordless telephone system however, can be provided to an user via a cellular telephone system. A cellular telephone system typically includes a plurality of portable cellular subscriber units, and cellular base stations which are connected to a telephony system of a service provider via one or more cellular switching networks. Each cellular subscriber has an assigned cellular telephone number which allows the user to place and receive calls within a widespread range of the cellular base stations, such as throughout a metropolitan area. However, the cost of utilizing a cellular telephone is generally much higher than the cost of utilizing a cordless telephone service.

Recently, in an effort to reduce this cost, a radio telephone has been introduced which may access both a wide-area cellular telephone system and one or more lower-cost cordless base stations at the user's home or office, such as a so-called "microcellular" telephone system within a home or office which may be utilized to provide wireless communications within a limited range. Such a system may use either the landline telephone number or the assigned cellular telephone number to place and receive calls.
A radio telephone which transmits and receives calls in both a cellular and a cordless system typically has the capability of selecting the system within which to operate; however, no provision currently exists for a single point of call control.
For data & voice switching in cordless mode for mobility applications there are generally separate stand-alone networks based on blue tooth, WiFi, WiMax, MIMO technologies.
There are stand-alone 3G / LTE networks to support voice video data services operated by the Mobile network operators. There is no common control available for seamless working with private data/ video network.
Application no 1872/DEL/2007 discloses a method of and an arrangement for handling calls switched by private branch exchanges to a mobile communications network, in which the mobile communications network and a branch exchange communicate with a control device in such a way that in switching of a call request originating from a communication device connected to the private branch exchange to a mobile communication terminal of the mobile communications network there is no call setup on the part of the private branch exchange when the mobile communication device has logged out.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
• The system of the invention constitutes a platform wherein MSC and RAN (radio access network) functionalities to support GSM mobile extensions for a private voice and data network takes place on the same hardware platform where the switching of the wireline extensions take place. This is a cost effective architecture for setting up private networks with fixed extensions as well as mobile GSM phones acting as extensions
• The system of the invention constitutes'a single platform wherein integration of the BTS and/or BSC software allows synchronized operation of the BTS and BSC software on the same hardware platform. In other words, the base station (BTS) and the base station controller (BSC) combinedly operate via a virtual the private GSM-based wireless network which uses same radio resources of a public GSM network.

• The inventive solution provides ability to Telecom operators to run a Virtual' private GSM network along-side a public GSM network whereby the same radio resources can be utilized to run a private GSM voice network as well as a public GSM voice network. This is done through the inventive system which also works as a full-fledged Micro MSC, with additional network components such as HLR, AUC etc.
• Provisioning of PBXs operably connected to with GSM handsets as wireless extensions of the PBX constitutes an in-built Solution. The system supports mobility within specified campus environments, seamlessly integrated with an Enterprise PBX network. The solution is like a GSM Centrex incorporated in to the Enterprise Customer's Private PBX.
• The system acts as an MSC that could support GSM RAN (Pico or Femto) for setting up mobile communication seamlessly interfaced to operate, as a single equipment, thereby transferring the "call control" of the GSM phone to the system structure.
The system comprises an integrated PBX device interfaced to at least one virtual GSM-based wireless network, the system consisting of at least one device in the form of an embedded soft-switch based common. Control Card to monitor and control call routing, number translation, LCR and display of Call Charges on GSM handset and the same is being done from One single equipment

• The embedded switch is further optimized to use available resources for Voice switching such that TDM to TDM call is not converted to IP thereby saving on the Codec cost. Similarly, IP to IP or GSM to GSM calls are not converted to save on codec costs
• According to the invention, a plurality of protocols are supported in one integrated solution like; El, PRI, E&M, Magneto/ IP/ SIP/ MGCP/ MAGACO

■ Once a GSM User comes out from the coverage of General Service provider and comes under the coverage the inventive system, he will be an user of the system. GSM subscriber can belongs to any service provider.
■ The inventive system is enabled to host a mapping table for all the GSM Users. The mapping table can be as follows:
GSM No Local No
9891245656 656
9891499201 201
9891499202 202
9891499321 321
■ When GSM 9891245656 comes under the coverage of wireless network, it will send a
REGISTER message for extension 656 (corresponding to GSM 9891245656) to the
control section of the system, after which it will register 656 & will activate this user.
Scenario I
■ There can be one PSTN No. provided also for every GSM user. For example if PRI Level is 505 than the PSTN number of the GSM subscriber 9891245656 will be 505656.
■ This is useful for GSM subscriber to receive the calls from PSTN also through their corresponding PSTN number. When there is a call from PSTN for 656, the system will transmit that call to MSC so that call arrives at desired GSM.
■ Any GSM users if will keep Call Forwarding Unreachable' activated to their corresponding PSTN number, GSM service provider will forward his calls to the corresponding PSTN number & PSTN will route the call to the system which will enable the MSC functionality and throw the call to the GSM handset registered in the Private Network.
■ Any GSM user if is inside private network and dials DID number of another GSM User who is inside the Private Mobile Network, the system will route the call to its internal Number without routing it through the PSTN.

Scenario II
■ If 2 GSM users who are under the network coverage, i.e; 9891245656 makes a call to
9891499202, the device will route that call to the MSC portion of the system, and
thereafter the call is thrown to the BTS for it to process and to send it to its locally to
9891499202 through the Private Network. Simultaneously, the device can send a ring
to the IP/ Analog Extension defined on same Extension number.
Scenario III
■ If 9891245656 is making an out call, Coral Air NGX will route that call to PBX portion of
the system and will transmit that call to PSTN network through the PRI.
■ Any number of Media GWs can be installed on the system.

DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
• The system architecture of the present invention, is a platform wherein MSC, BSC and BTS functionalities to support GSM mobile extensions for a private voice and data network takes place on the same hardware platform where the switching of the wireline extensions take place. This is a cost effective architecture for setting up private networks with fixed extensions as well as mobile GSM phones acting as extensions
• The solution provides the ability to the Telecom operators to run a Virtual' private GSM network along-side a public GSM network by reuse of the same radio resources that is utilized to run a private GSM voice network as well as a public GSM voice network. This is done by reuse of frequency resource that is otherwise allocated for a non contiguous cell. It is achieved , in a small and confined private space, such that the RF from this private space does not reach till the adjacent cell coverage area . Here, the system architecture works as a full-fledged Micro MSC, with additional network components such as HLR, AUC etc.
• Provisioning of PBXs operably connected to GSM handsets as wireless extensions of the PBX as an integrated Solution. It would support mobility within specified campus environments, seamlessly integrated with the Enterprise PBX network. The solution is like a GSM Centrex is bundled in to the Enterprise Customer's Private PBX.
• The inventive system platform acts as an MSC that could support GSM BTS (Pico or Femto) for setting up mobile communication seamlessly interfaced with IRIS NGX, as one single equipment, thereby transferring the "call control" of the GSM phone to IRIS NGX.
• Embedded soft-switch based common Control Cards monitor and control call routing, number translation, LCR and display of Call Charges on GSM handset and the same is being done from One single equipment
• Common Control Card for Call control and signaling that also enabled to arragne Call set up, roaming across geographic locations as well as handover from BTS to BTS creates a very cost effective model for private mobile network and the same is being done from One single equipment

• The soft-switch is further optimized to take advantage of available resources for Voice switching such that TDM to TDM call is not converted to IP thereby saving on the Codec cost. Similarly, IP to IP or GSM to GSM calls are not converted to save on codec costs
The present invention provides an integrated system operable in a private GSM-based wireless network to monitor and control communications between wireless hand-held devices and one or PBX unit. The invention supports mobility within enterprise environments, spread over a campus or over geographically separated areas, seamlessly integrated with the enterprise private voice and data switching network. The solution according to the present invention is like a wireless central exchange which provides a fixed mobile convergence platform that allows organizations to integrate wireless handheld device and fixed telephony infrastructure with features operating seamlessly irrespective of instrument used for communication. Thus the PABX wired extensions becomes Wireless through the usage of wireless handsets as the PBX incorporates the mobile switching centre (MSC), RAN (Radio access Network) control functionality as a bundled solution.
In accordance with the present invention, any number of connectivity is possible in a single unit. The system accepts any protocol such as but not limited to analog phones / Key telephones / ADSL extensions/ El, PRI, E&M, Magneto/ IP/ SIP/ MGCP/ MAGACO/ / Quad cable / UHF / VHF sets can be deployed etc in a single box solution.
System shall seamlessly integrate & control from the common control cards wireless handsets (GSM 2G / 3G / 4G / CDMA) that shall support all services that will include but shall not be limited to Voice Data Video, SMS, GPS & GPRS based services.
There is no such integrated technology existing in this domain wherein such vast protocols are supported in one integrated solution such as but not limited to the analog phones / Key telephones / ADSL extensions / El, PRI, E&M, Magneto/ IP/ SIP/ MGCP/ MAGACO/ Quad cable / UHF / VHF/ GSM 2G, 3G , 4G / CDMA / GPS & GPRS.
The present invention provides mobility voice services to every PBX extension user thereby replacing the cordless telephone systems. Calls are routed through the least expensive route by intelligence built into the PBX.

The present invention initiates a call setup unlike the prior art arrangement and maintains control throughout the call. It accepts calls to and from the mobile Sim (Originator) to other communication devices connected to the PBX.
The present invention has seamless control. It does not couple two devices and provides the complete solution with full feature transparency across all wired and wireless devices connected to the private switched network (PBX).
The present invention is a GSM mobile device seamlessly handling the calls wherein the GSM handset uses GSM frequency and does not operate on Wi-fi. Here the call control, switching of calls between PSTN / PBX extension and the GSM phone in the private network are with a common device and call control and call status is available at the Central point all the time.
The present invention seamlessly integrate the mobile GSM functionality in the same PBX. The GSM functionality being in the PBX a solution to common call control is achieved.
The key distinguishing features of the present invention constitutes a single unit. Solution takes the complete control on one board for all the activities and a single CPU provides the complete solution. Each event status is reported without any intermediary patch up work or integration work. There is no emulation software to report status of one set of switching devices to the other for status of wait time, queue length.
The present invention is an amalgamation of the wire-line legacy PBX system with the wireless handheld devices wherein some of the PBX extensions are Wireless handsets with dual sims. According to the invention, the various protocols are supported in one integrated solution with common call control there by computer telephony Integration (CTI) applications / Event and call status reporting /.Display status on Key phones and IP phones will work seamlessly.
Once the user comes out from the coverage of city wide service providers and comes under the coverage of the present system in the private domain then, he/she becomes a part of the MSC of the private switching system according to the present invention. The private system allocates unique number to each of its registered users and maps it to the user mobile number in the macro cell network. The present invention is applicable to the user in

conjunction with any of the telecom service providers whose frequency spectrum and SIM is used but mapping with the macro network mobile number of any service provider is possible Such that if "A" is the number of the user's hand held device in the macro network and "B" is the number allocated to this user by the private system. If A comes under the coverage of the present system, it will get register as extension B (corresponding to A) to the control section of the Private PBX network. This subscriber may also have a mobile phone registered with any other GSM service provider with the number "C" that he does not want to give up.
Proposed solution will facilitate that when'ever this person walks into the private coverage area then all calls made from within the network either on number A, B or C are transferred to the mobile handset as local calls within the PBX without paying for the call to any operator.
Configuration can be so planned that Office extension numbers are allocated as nine or ten digits, which are a part of the citywide PSTN numbering plan ( DID on PRI) and the last three or four digits can emulate like intercom extensions of the private network.
In this aspect, one public switched telephone network (PSTN) number is also provided for every wireless user called DID or direct inward dialing number so that it becomes useful for wireless subscriber to receive calls directly from PSTN network through corresponding PSTN number. When there is a call to the specified PSTN number which is a part of the private GSM network then the system processes the call through its MSC so that call arrives at desired wireless handset.
If any wired or wireless hand held device user inside private network dials DID number or any of the registered macro cell mobile numbers of another wireless user, who is inside the private mobile network, the present system routes the call to the internal number without routing it through the PSTN.
In another aspect of the present invention, if more than one or more of the wired or wireless users who are under the coverage of the present system, make a call then , the system routes that call to the MSC portion of the present invention, and the call is processed through an intelligence residing in the central control that decides on the shortest path or the cheapest or the preferred path that the call should take based on a set of predefined logics.

System intelligence can decide to route the call over PSTN / IP / MAGNATO or various other connectivity options available to the system.
In a still another aspect of the present invention, if A is making an out call, the system routes that call to PBX portion of the present invention and sends that call to PSTN network through the primary Rate Interface (PRI). Any number of media GWs can be installed with the present invention.
The system has an embedded MSC that supports upto 144 base station subsystem (BSC and BTS - Trx1). Thus the user is able to extent upto 144 Trx BSS from one central location. Each of these are connected on IP.
In another aspect of the present invention the system can support roaming services to city wide mobile operators so that when a mobile subscriber of one or more city wide mobile service operator walk into this private network then they can get registered temporarily on this network and can avail some or all of the features of the private network. Roaming services of this nature will allow optimal use of scarce spectrum within the private campus / building. System under the present invention shall route all the voice, data and video traffic from mobile subscribers and also the wried subscribers within the building / campus on to the terrestrial based connectivity's thereby relieving the city wide spectrum from carrying this payload.
The present system can supports 3G environments. Communication between the RAN and then to MSC is on Ethernet thus the same -can be conveniently backhauled on IP radios. The system has common control card for call control and signaling that also manages call set up, roaming across geographic locations as well as handover from BTS to BTS. It creates a very cost effective model for private mobile networks. This is also done from single equipment. The switch is optimized to take advantage of available resources for voice switching such that Time-division multiplexing (TDM) to TDM call is not converted to IP thereby saving on the codec cost. Similarly, IP to IP or wireless to wireless calls are not converted to save on codec costs.
The system works on multiple batteries of any voltage so that even if some batteries fail, the system continues to work.

The invention has a number of applications such as without limitation call centers, hospitality industry, police departments and railways. The paramilitary organizations have special requirements from a PBX system. The system supports all specialized service requirements while deploying some of the extensions on wireless handheld devices. It can be used for disaster recovery sites for railways, army, etc). Disaster recovery server architecture provides the required resilience for mission critical applications and will manage the network in the event of disaster.
The system helps maximize usage of primary rate interfaces (PRI) connected to the PBX thereby reducing operational cost for the enterprise. Wireless hand held devices integrated with the enterprise PBX reduces costs as it can have presence / attendance recording systems integrated with it. The calls are routed through the least expensive route by intelligence built into the PBX. Unanswered calls go through an escalation matrix in the company.
