Abstract: The invention discloses a pepper processing machine for peeling the outer surface of pepper. The pepper processing machine comprising a frame, a funnel assembly, a set of rotating drums, a motor and a conveyer belt. The black pepper grains are subjected to mechanical treatment (friction between plate and conveyer belt), peels the outer layer of pepper without affecting its core properties. The whole peeling process was performed at room temperature, process is fully automated and reduces human intervention. The quality of the pepper is good when compare to the pepper peeled using conventional chemical or boiling method. The peeled pepper meets the requirement of agricultural products and the proposed invention having potential for bulk production.

This invention pertains to automated peeling or removing the outer layer of the pepper using peeling machine which was earlier done using conventional man power/manually.
Background of the Invention
The conventional process involved in peeling of pepper which is commonly of two types chemical peeling and boil peeling process. According to the prior art survey, chemical peeling is widely used to penetrate deep inside the pepper to separate the outer layer and removing it manually which is more laborious work.
The Chemical peeling process uses mixture of biochemical substance mainly sodium based element to remove the outer layer of pepper. The chemicals used in the peeling process makes outer surface of pepper thin and penetrate deep inside at molecular level to peel the outer layer of the grain. The pepper exposed to chemical while peeling are more hazardous to health. The chemical may contaminate the pepper grains and obscured the flavor of its own. The whole process of removing outer layer is a difficult task and much laborious work. The manual work involved in the process affects the pepper damage rate which is directly proportionate to number of labors involved in the working process. The chemical method is a costliest process involves chemical and labor work which automatically increases the cost of pepper and it is not a hygienic process. The boiling process where coils and equipment’s are involved to increase the temperature of water where pepper is placed at a specific temperature and the process is continued until the outer layer becomes soft and subsequently removal process take place manually. In both the processes wastage percentage is high because of damage incurred in pepper while handling manually.
For instance CN110638063A discloses a multistage peeling process where the whole material is placed layer by layer at different levels using conveyor belt. Peeling device is fixed along with guided plate to peel the fruit followed by conveyor belt on other side. In most of the automatic peeling process (CN103610219A), white gourd is characterized by threaded rod which is connected to a sliding device. In some process (CN106490637A) to accelerate the peeling, mounting and clamping system is also provided along with guiding vanes. In case of peeling from individual crop (DE3616742A1), a casting and holding device driven by motor was provided to hold the crop rigidly whereas peeling tool moves axially to the axis of rotation of holding device.
Accordingly, there is an urgent need for a fully automated process/machine for peeling outer layer of pepper. The present invention overcome these problems observed in the prior art and discloses herein the operation of automatic pepper peeling machine devoid of the above mentioned drawbacks.
Summary of the Invention
In light of the above mentioned drawbacks in the prior art, the present invention aims to automate the pepper peeling process without the usage of chemicals.
The main objective of the invention is to design the peeler machine which can operate without any involvement of the human work.
Brief Description of Drawings
The invention will be described in detail with reference to the exemplary embodiments shown in the figures wherein:
Figure 1 Pictorial representation of pepper processing machine.
Detailed Description of Drawings
Figure 1 Pictorial representation of pepper peeling machine comprises:
Part (1) Funnel like structure where the pepper is dropped for further processing.
Part (2) Plate with attached emery paper at downside.
Part (3) Conveyer belt.
Part (4) Rolling drum.
Part (5) Frame.
Part (6) Rolling drum with motors.
Detailed Description of the Invention
The embodiments of the present disclosure provide a pepper peeling machine which peels the outer layer of black or white pepper. The designing criteria for the proposed peeling machine process are: 1) Size should be less spacious so that it can be easily transported to the other places, 2) Increasing output capacity compared to manually peeling which is a time consuming process, and 3) Automate the whole process without any human intervention.
With reference to the figure 1 the ‘Pepper Processing Machine’ is provided in accordance to an embodiment of the present disclosure. A funnel like design (1) which is mainly used to pour the pepper on a conveyer belt (3) so that it can be further processed to peel the outer layer. The pepper is initially kept in the funnel and discharged into the roller at controlled speed (grains per second) to increase the efficiency of the process. The emery sheet was present on both sides of the conveyer belt.
In accordance to an embodiment of the disclosure, the rotating drums (4 and 6) are controlled by an electric motor which is attached with rolling drum (6). The rollers are moving at a desired speed, grains are discharged uniformly from the funnel into the roller, ball bearing was used for the rotation or rollers. The motor can be either AC/DC, required motion for the roller can be adjusted to any particular speed with respective to the desired output.
A plate (2) with emery sheet at its bottom was attached over the conveyer belt path. The grain size determines the distance between conveyer belt path and frame. At the initial stage before starting the peeling process distance between the plate and conveyer belt has to be fixed manually for smooth operation. The outer skin of the pepper will get peeled while conveyer belt crossing the plates due to friction. The grade of the emery sheet is chosen depends upon the nature of the pepper and it is easily removable. Periodical maintenance and replacement of emery sheet is required due to its continuous wear while peeling the outer surface of the pepper.
The frame (5) act as the foundation for the whole peeling process which plays an important role in absorbing the vibrations, holding the various parts, stabilizing the whole machine while it is in operation. The proposed invention is fully automated which helps in increasing the effectiveness of the whole peeling process.
