OBJECTIVES OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:-
The main objective of the present invention is to provide a vehicle embedded with a personal assistant system for assisting driver of a vehicle.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide a vehicle embedded with a personal assistant system for assisting driver of a vehicle wherein the system identifies the driving situations on the road and accordingly impart assistance to the driver of a vehicle.
Another objective of the present invention is to ensure the safety of the driver while driving a vehicle by avoiding driver's distraction from driving.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:-
In accordance with the present invention, the personal assistance system in a vehicle comprises of voice activated controls; processing unit, Bluetooth enabled audio system, speakers and the driver's mobile phone. The driver's mobile phone has to be paired with the audio system through Bluetooth. The control processing unit is characterized to automatic speech recognition, text to speech recognition functionality, coding and decoding of the input and output signals to deliver the required functionality as assistance to the driver while driving a vehicle. The system of the invention has in built intelligence by which it continuously monitor the driving pattern of driver & based on this system decides driving mode either driver is in comfort or busy mode. With this intelligence in system, system is able to decide on following functionalities.
1. To take the self decision/action to inform Driver about the previous call history with detailed info.
2. To take the self decision/action to exit from do not disturb mode incase on emergency incoming call.

3. To take the self decision/action to enter in into Do not disturb mode based on the driver busyness.
When the driver is negotiating heavy traffic, a T-junction, sharp turnings, or is extremely stressed out; in addition to this if one has to handle the incoming phone calls it becomes more difficult, stressful and unsafe drive. In this example, the driver is not fully focusing on the safety and won't be in a comfortable driving condition.
The system of the present invention comes into the light at this point. If this system is there in the vehicle, the driver can select a "do not disturb" mode through steering wheel controls or through the voice activated controls and receiving of the calls by the driver is barred by the system. Once the feature is enabled the system will take over the complete control over the incoming calls. Where for any incoming call the system will automatically answer the call and the system will pass on the voice message saying "Hi this is
(name of person), right now on drive , please leave a message
after the tone". After the tone caller can record the message for particular duration time, the system will have the intelligence to inform the driver/user depending upon drive conditions. Driver/user can always retrieve the recorded incoming call messages. Further, the system ensures the safety of the driver while driving a vehicle by avoiding driver's distraction from driving. Thus, the personal assistant system of the invention
- Takes the full control of incoming calls,
- Automatically answers the incoming calls,
- Record the incoming call messages, and
- Retrieve the recorded incoming call messages, as and when required by the user/driver.
Another feature of the invention is that it enables the user to talk to the Vehicle. The vehicle listens to the instructions given by the user and executes those accordingly. Further Vehicle has an intelligence to monitor the health of all the ECU'S (electronic control unit) and Informs user if there is any defect in

the vehicle. It also gives the history report of the vehicle whenever user is not in the vehicle and even wishes the customer as soon as he enters the car.
Once customer gets into a vehicle, System wishes the customer by saying "Hello sir/ madam...". At any point of time if Customer asks the system, "How are you?", the system reverts either by saying "I am Fine Thank You ... Have a Good Day..." or if there is any faults in the vehicle, system conveys the same message to user by saying "No I have a problem in the vehicle... Do contact service centre immediately....". Thus user is well alerted by the system before he ends up with any problem. The system continuously monitors all the ECU'S and if any Diagnostic trouble Code (DTC) is set and if it is active state then it conveys the above message.
When any attempt to make an unauthorized entry into the vehicle happens, system will record the attempt and once the user enters the vehicle and turn the Ignition ON, systems informs user that "Careful... there was an
unauthorized entry attempt minutes / hours ago. PI check". Thus the
system intimates the History Report to the User. Also system does vehicle controls as per the voice command instruction given by the user. The system will be activated by pressing a command switch on the steering wheel. Once this is pressed, System requests the user to say the instruction. Once command is given, it executes that command and gives a feedback to the user, It helps the user in more convenient way of controlling vehicle features like headlamp, hazard, indicators etc. The voice commands are picked up by a hands-free microphone that filters out background noise. The system is of user independent and especially recognizes the Indian accent.
The technical advantages achieved by this invention are -
- Improves the safety of the driver while driving with no loss of information/communication.
- Provides satisfaction to the user/driver/customer.
- The system is user friendly and easy to understand to caller so as to avoid recalling.

- Most importantly, the system provides stress free drive to the user while driving the vehicle.
- Customer is intimated well in advance through interactive way before the customer/driver faces the trouble.
- User/driver gets the update of security of his vehicle if any unauthorized entry is happened.
- Since user has a facility to talk to car, he will not get bored on lonely long journeys and feels as if he is talking to another person which makes the drive more pleasurable and reduces the fatigue.
WORKING:-
PAS helps the driver prioritize the information in the vehicle depending on the driving patterns. For example, PAS delays incoming phone calls or other non¬essential information if the driving situation is busy, e.g. during acceleration or a maneuver.
Generally during traffic jams or at T-junction, the driver is stressed by the fact that the phone rings at midst. Although the traffic situation requires all his concentration, he still answers the phone.
In said example, the driver is not focusing fully on safety and probably does not feel very comfortable with the situation. With PAS in the vehicle, the driver simply does not receive the incoming call while he is negotiating the traffic. This is also applicable for the all the scenarios like driving over speed, traffic jams, entering T-Junction, bumpy roads , emergency braking etc. thereby it records all the patterns and will enter in to do not disturb mode and silences it by giving the recorded message and delays alerting the driver till he comes to comfort driving. The comfort driving is defined based on the patterns pre¬defined to the PAS.
Measuring driver activity
Examples of the type of information used to continuously calculate the driver's workload are:

• Acceleration
• Over Speed
. Hazard ON
• Steering wheel angle rotation
• Reverse gear engagement
. infotainment controls
. Emergency braking
. Lane Departure
As indicated in the block diagram, PAS will monitor the driver work load and driving patterns, based on the same it will react to the incoming calls or SMS or call history etc. The Application Coordinator (AC) is responsible for the centralized management of interactions between the driver and different applications. The AC thus contains the logic for I/O HMI (human machine interaction) resource management, action prioritization and scheduling. The demand of the driving situation based on information available on the vehicle CAN data bus, the PAS monitors the multiple relevant aspects of the driver, Vehicle and environment state, using data from a wide range of sensors such as speed sensor, Parking sensors, tracking and other data sources. This is real-time monitoring of the driver load and vehicle state, in order to enable real-time adaptation of the driver vehicle interface.
Conclusion -
This is with respect to efficient integration of in-vehicle functions, not only with respect to sensors, but also on the HMI side, is an area that has to be addressed if the full benefits of new in-vehicle functions are to be utilized. Regarding the expected safety benefits, majority of road accidents are at least partly caused by driver inattention. Thus, the intelligent scheduling and prioritization of initiated information supporting the driver to avoid inattention at inopportune moments clearly has a potential to reduce accidents.
