The following specification described. The nature of the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed :-
1) Title of Invention
PILGRIM TUBE EXPANSION SYSTEM
2) Field of Invention :-
This type of expansion system is welcomed by,and manufacturer and user of steam generator used in Nuclear power products. OR highly precised tube rolling is required.
3) Background of Invention :-
This is a different type of tube expansion than conventional type being used in common world. First we explain what is tube expansion and why it is required to be used by general tube expander - commonly, heat exchanger and boilers are tubular structures arranged in various pattern like squash pitch, etc, The tubes are termitted through terminal such as tube sheets, square and round headers, water drum, steam drum etc. This construction permits transfer of heat while separating the hot gases from the miscellaneous liquids or water from one another.
Hence it will be seen that the pressure tight joint is an absolute
ts necessity between the tube and its seat and it for this reason
roller type tube expander was introduced in 1853 by Richard
Dudgeon from New York.
Tube expanding is basically cold working of tube and in order
to form a pressure tight frictional joints It causes stresses to be

set up in tube and its contracting seat - The amount of wall thinning in tube determines the power of strength of holding joint and it is established by the specified operating conditions that the equipment must withstand. Different pull out test on mock up block or tube sheet hydrostatic or air test on assembled components will assist in determining the correct amount of expansion or tightness necessary. This sealing process of tube expansion is the amount of torque by means of load applied generated through electric current in terms of ampere value. Higher the amps greater the load. If the excess load is applied during tube expansion, chances of breaking tube expansion tool inside the tube hole which may be deep inside like thread forming
tap breaks

and difficult to remove from the hole compels the cancellation of particular tube from the process that means bad workmanship as it leads to lower the efficiency expected. To avoid this, use the expander and system that is free from above problem is PILGRIM TYPE TUBE EXPANSION. It requires very less torque, i.e load in terms of amps current and ultimately less load and breakage free. Ref. Product detail page 2 group 9 (As stated in detail Description of Invention).
Objects of Invention :-
In all the field of its expansion it is proved to be most advantageous system.

• It seal the seat of tube sheet hole even rough and little damaged because of its creaping system or 3-5mm each step expansion seat that seals throughout.
• It abolishes the spring back action by way of repeat expansion through 80% overlap operation ref. page 2 group 7.
• Uniform and parallel expansion throughout the long length of expansion ref page 1 group 4 & 5.
• Corrosion free : In conventional expansion while expanding the tube the air accumulated between tube sheet hole and tube OD gets pressed and merges between the seal. This air contains some oxidizing agencies helps the area to corrode in future.Pilgrim Tube expansion wipes out this by creping system and its forwarded expansion action and make the gap bubble free
• Light weight drive gun : Since requirement is very light and it is compulsory to use 50%-4ess load efficiency gun to be used that reduces the cost factor of investment.
• Expansion through telescopic shaft and operator is free from lifting the drive gun.
• No missed out of stage is possible since it expands in one go. ref. product detail page 1 group 3 & 4.

6. Brief Summary and Description of invention accompanying with drawing.
This torque Control unit is ideally suited for Pilgrim Type Tube
Expansion operations. Torque Control Unit provides repetitive
rube expansion operations for any number of Cycles.
It has built in Reverse Time Setting by which the time of the
reverse operation can be selected to the requirement of the tube
expansion work.
Before the next tube expansion is required, Pause time also can
be selected by the pause time setting switch. These switches are
provided with wide time settings. If, Auto repeat is selected, the
drive will pause for a set time and start new cycle.
Trip will depend on Torque Setting
Reverse / Pause as per the switch setting
This Torque Control units has very high repeat accuracy both in
terms of Torque Settings and Reverse & Pause settings.

7. Details Description of Invention with respect to drawing / example
1. It is a traveler expander
2. It is generally used in nuclear power steam generator thick tube and deep tube expansion.
3. Longer length tube expansion and performs uniform, parallel and smooth expansion zone.
_ ■* The tube is expanded as required length by same set of Pilgrim tube expander roller, mandrel and cage in one go.
4. Pilgrim tube expander is not taken out once. it is put to use in tube for expansion operation by non stop gradual forward reverse travel hence no missed out of stage in between long expansion length is possible.
5. Every forward rotation gives longer overlap hence it irons out the earlier expanded area that furnish good finish and accuracy.
6. Clutch assembly on last groove on pilgrim tube expander secure correct and consistent depth of expansion.
7. Because it has larger overlap gives repeat expansion or iron out the previous backtail expanded area helps the seat that seals perfectly and gives better push out strength in minimum percentage.

8. Thinning thus life of the equipments is longer than other conventional method of tube expansion system. Minimum breakage.
9. Pilgrim tube expansion every forward stroke covers only 20% of effective roller lengths as new increased expansion zone keeping remaining 80% as overlap requires very Light torque. Hence the operating load on the pilgrim tube expander is light and wear out of tooling is minimized.
10. Construction of pilgrim tube expander is such that at any position roller or mandrel do not fall out of the cage and no misplacing of loose rollers in deep hole tube is possible.

This type of system is NOT available in any of Indian or
International catalogue or on any of their website. No other
agency / film / individual has developed this type of Pilgrim
tube expansion tolls and system in India.

Sarel Engineers dedicated developed and designed successfully know how of special pilgrim type of tube expansion tool system and procedure by spending their time R & D for more than 2 V2 years with their experience, knowledge, expertise and above all investment in terms of money, finance, using man power which was beyond capacity of this S.S.I. Unit. All the tools, tackles etc., electronics equipments involved and used for system processes are indigenous and there is no third party assistance, involvement or contribution to make the tools, system and procedure successful.
This type of systems was approved, accepted and adopted by Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. (A Govt, of India Enterprises) in 2002 for their products use. This type of Pilgrim Type of Tube Expanders tools and their components, system and procedure is not commonly used earlier and in future the same cannot be copied, used, implemented by any third party without written, agreed, consent by the PATENT APPLICANT.
