This invention relates to Pimplex composition in Homoeopathy.
BACKGROUND
Acne and pimples are common teenage problem all over the world. Formation of blackheadss, pimples and acne are related to puberty, hormones and development of secondary sexual characterstics.
The excess oil secreted by the sebaceous glands of the skin clogs the pores leading to blackheads. When the pores gets blocked and infected, it forms a pimple and when the inner layer of the skin gets involved, it leads to acne formation. An Homoeopath would prescribe Berberis Aquifolium for pimples and blotches and to clear complexion. In cases of very severe acne with pustules, Arsenic lodatum could be prescribed. In cases where acne is associated with gastro- intestinal problems, Nux vomica with berberis Aquifolium may be prescribed.
Pimplex is prescnbed for the treatment of pimples, acne, blacklieads and blotches appearing on the skin.

The object of this invention is to simplify the prescription by a doctor for a large group of patients and to cover wider spectrum symptoms in conditions such as pimples, acne, blackheads, blotches associated with or without gastro-intestinal problems in a single Homoeopathic composition consisting of ingredients made from chemical salts, animal and plant extracts.
To achieve said objective, this invention provides Pimplex composition for a wider spectrum of symptoms, comprising of the following ingredients :
i) Arsenicum lodatum
ii) Berberis Aquifolium
iii) Echinacea Angustifoha
iv) Nux Vomica
v) Asteria Rubens
vi) Kali Bromatum wherein the potencies for said ingredients are in the range from 1-12 on the decimal scale.
In the aforesaid composition, the ingredients (ii) to (iv) are obtained from herbal whereas Asteria Rubens is an animal extract. Arsenicum lodatum and Kali Bromatum are chemical salts.
Arsenicum lodatum and Kali Bromatum are triturated in lactose to the desired potency whereas Berberis Aquifolium, Echinacea Angustifoha and Nux Vomica are prepared according to the Homeopathic Pharmacopia of India and

potentised in alcohol or distilled water to desired potency. The animal extract is potentised either in alcohol or distilled water to the desired potency.
The chemical names of the chemical salts Arsenicum Iodatum and Kali Bromatum are Arsenious Iodide (Asl ) and Potassium Bromide (KBr) respectively. The ingredient Asteria Rubens is obtained from the extract of starfish.
Said above mentioned ingredients are mixed in equal proportions and compressed to form tablets of 100 mg and 250 mg.
The composition so obtained is prescribed by doctors depending upon the acuteness of the patient's condition. Normally , the dosage prescribed is four tablets of 100 mg four times a day and two tablets of 250 mg twice a day as and when required, depending upon the patient's condition.
This invention further includes a process of preparing Pimplex composition
comprising :
i) Obtaining extracts of Berberis Aquifolium, Echinacea Augustfolia and Nux Vomica according to the Homeopathic Pharmacopia of India ii) Obtaining extract of Asteria Rubens and potentising it in either alcohol or distilled water to the desired potency,

iii) Triturating the chemical ingredients, Arsenicum lodatum and Kali Bromatum in Lactose to the predetermined potency, iv) mixing in equal proportions the extracts obtained in steps (1) to (iv) to form the composition.
The invention will, now, be described with reference to the following examples :
Example 1 :
The Pimplex composition is prepared by mixing in equal proportion at
ambient temperature the following ingredients.

ii) Berberis Aquifolium IX
iii) Echinacea Angustifolia IX
iv) Nux Vomica IX
v) Asteria Rubens 4X
vi) Kali Bromatum 8X
Asteria Rubens is potentised either in alcohol or distilled water to obtain the desired potency of 4 on the decimal scale. The chemical ingredients Arsenicum lodatum and Kali Bromatum are potentised individually in Lactose to the desired potency of 3 and 8 on the decimal scale.

The tablets of 100 mg and 250 mg are prepared from the above mentioned composition.
The solution is known as Pimplex and are prescribed for patients depending upon the age and acuteness of the condition. Even the patients can themselves take this tablet depending upon the condition of the patients without doctors prescription. Usually, the doses prescribed is 100 mg tablets 4 tablets QID or 250 mg tablets 2 tablets TDS as and when required. The details of the treatement are given in the clinical report.
Example 2 :

Tablets and dosage are also prepared and prescribed in the same manner as described in example 1. The details of treatment are given in the clinical report.

Example 3 :

(Table Remove) The aforesaid ingredients are mixed to form tablets of 100 mg and 250 mg
and are prescribed by doctors in the same manner as defined in example 1.
INDICATIONS:
The tablets prepared from the above mentioned composition are prescribed
for blackheads, pimples, etc.

4. Pimplex composition as claimed claim 1, wherein Asteria Rubens is an animal extract of starfish.

5. Pimplex composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the potencies of the herbal ingredients ranges between 1 to 3 on the decimal scale.
6. Pimplex composition as claimed in claims 1 and 2,wherein the potency of the chemical salts ranges between 3 to 12 on decimal scale.
7. Pimplex composition as claimed in claims 1 and 4 wherein the potency of the animal extract, Asteria Rubens ranges between 4 to 8 on the decimal scale.
8. Pimplex composition as claimed in claims 1, 2 & 6, wherein the chemical names of the salts Arsenicum lodatum and Kali Bromatum are Arsenious Iodide and Potassium Bromide.
9. Pimplex composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the herbal extracts

are made according to the HPI standards or potentised in alcohol or distilled water to the desired potency.
10. Pimplex composition as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein Arsenicum lodatum and Kali Bromatum are triturated in lactose to the desired potency.
11. Pimplex composition as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein Asterias Rubens is potentised in alcohol or distilled water to the predetermined potency.

12. Pimplex composition substantially as herein described with reference to foregoing examples.
