Pneumatic Pressure Testing Facility Of Pipelines Of Lca Tejas Aircraft

Abstract: LCA Aircraft is having around 1000 pipe lines which to be tested before installation on the Aircraft. To meet the requirement of pressure testing of the pipelines, a Compact pressure test facility is required. The invention describes the development of customized Pneumatic Pressure Test Facility for the division, which is part of the process for the pipes/pipe assemblies that are fitted on the LCA Tejas aircraft.

DESCRIPTION

TECHNICAL FIELD

The invention describes the development of customized Pneumatic Pressure Test Facility for the LCA Tejas Aircraft, which is part of the checking and validation process for the pipes/pipe assemblies to be fitted on the aircraft.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

LCA Aircraft is having around 1000 pipe lines which are to be pressure tested before installation on the Aircraft. To meet the requirement of pressure testing of the pipelines, Compact pressure test facility is designed and developed. Actual working pressure of Inconel/Steel pipelines are around 150 bar and for Aluminum it is around 10 bar. The pressure test facility is designed to accommodate both type of pipelines.

Nitrogen is used for Steel/ Inconel. Air is used for Aluminum.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

Establishment of customized compact Pneumatic pressure test facility for testing the pipe lines before installation in the Aircraft.

PROCESS DETAIL DESCRIPTION:

Pipe lines: LCA Aircraft is having 1000 pipe lines which to be tested before installation in the Aircraft. Actual working pressure of Inconel/Steel pipelines are around 150 bar and for Aluminum it is around 10 bar.

Pressure test facility was designed based on:

• Material of the pipes

• Working pressure of the pipe Pressure test facility includes:

Needle Valve-Needle valve is type of valve having small port and threaded needle shaped plunger which allows precise regulation of flow of gases.

Filter- The contamination of the gases is reduced by passing through the filters.

Dial gauge- Dial gauge is used to measure the pressure Panel mounted rear entry. The dial gauge is used for displaying the pressure exerted by the gas on the inner wall of pipe.

Pressure Transmitter-Pressure transmitter is converts pressure into electrical signal which is used for displaying the actual pressure digitally. In addition to analogue pressure gauge, Pressure transmitter is used to warn the operators of high pressure level before any disaster take place.

Pressure Regulator: Pressure regulator is a valve that automatically cuts off the flow of a liquid at a certain pressure.

Hose-Hose is used for extracting the Nitrogen gas from the Nitrogen cylinder.

Ball valve-Ball valve control the flow through it. This is used to achieve perfect shutoff and regulate the flow.

Air compressor -Air compressor is used to generate the required pressure for air.
