The lower tank comprises a brewing unit and the upper tank is removably mounted on the lower tank. The upper tank comprises a first section for holding water, a second section for holding milk. A second section is physically separate from the first section. A third section holds sugar and tea leaves in separate compartments. A vertical pipe is attached to an inner surface of the upper tank with an opening in each of the sections. The water from the first section, the milk from the second section and any or a combination of the sugar and tea leaves held in the separate compartments from the third section respectively are dispensed into the vertical pipe, and passed down from the vertical pipe to the mounted lower tank for brewing and preparing the beverage.
[0001] The present invention relates generally to beverage makers. More particularly, to a portable beverage preparing device for making coffee and tea.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Busy and hectic lifestyles of people these days especially of college students and young professionals invite for a requirement of beverages on the go. When confronted with this situation most of these turn to their conventional habits to get their hot beverages or simply go without.
[0003] Options to help these users with this problem include single serve brewing systems which have grown in popularity due to their convenience and speed. However, these brewing systems are expensive and are not portable leading it to be difficult to be made on the go. This results in the user requiring to go to a coffee shop, to waste time at a coffee machine or go without. Wasting time at a coffee machine is unproductive, inconvenient and lacking in quality. Going without the beverage is also unsatisfying and possibly harmful to productivity. Also, availability of a particular flavor of coffee may be a challenge. Further, the coffee shops may conduct an error during preparation of required flavors of the beverages.
[0004] Accordingly, while brewing systems are useful for their intended purposes the need for improvement remains, particularly in providing a cost effective brewing system that is portable and enables the user to select specific ingredients for the beverage.

[00041] FIG. 1 illustrates multiple components of an exemplary portable beverage preparing device 100 in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure.
[00042] In an aspect, at 102 is shown a first section of an upper tank. The first section 102-1 of the upper tank holds water that may be used in preparation of the beverage. For example, the first section can be a reservoir without a spout capable of holding at least about 1 liter or 2 liters of water connected with another type of outlet mechanism, e.g., a faucet, to deliver hot water to an operator. The volume of water in the first section can also be measured using a water level sensor. For example, a float could cooperate with a potentiometer on a sidewall of the device, and knowing the dimensions of the first section, the volume of water in the first section can be determined. The second section of upper tank holds milk at 102-2, and the third section at 102-3 of the upper tank holds tea leaves and sugar in separate compartments.
[00043] At 104 is shown a vertical pipe. The vertical pipe is attached to an inner surface of the upper tank with an opening in each of the sections such that the water from the first section, the milk from the second section and any or a combination of the sugar and tea leaves held in the separate compartments from the third section respectively are dispensed into the vertical pipe. Thereafter these are passed down from the vertical pipe to the mounted lower tank for brewing and preparation of the beverage. At 106 is shown a nozzle that is attached to each of the openings present in the vertical pipe.
[00044] In an embodiment, at 110 is shown a measurement scale for first section of the upper tank. This may be used to measure quantity of water available in the tank. In addition, at 112 is show a fan that is installed in each of the second section and the first section of the upper tank for easy and quick flow of milk and tea leaves and sugar for preparation of the beverage.
[00045] At 114 is shown a measurement scale for second section of the upper tank for displaying the amount of milk present within the device, and at 120 is shown a measurement scale for the third section of the upper tank for displaying the amount of tea leaves and sugar present within the device.
[00046] In an embodiment, at 108 is shown a lower tank. The upper tank 102 is removably mounted on the lower tank. Further, at 118 is shown an on-screen display for displaying the beverage being prepared and also to determine amount of beverage remaining within the lower tank. The lower tank can be connected to a direct power supply. In addition, the device is equipped to work with a battery as shown at 116.
[00047] In an embodiment, the lower tank includes four batteries, such as a 18650 size battery, which outputs 3.7 V. Three batteries may be in series to create two “packs” and then these “packs” are wired in parallel. In an embodiment, the device may further include an actuator button that is positioned in an opening. The actuator may include a pair of terminals. When the actuator is depressed by the user, a circuit is completed that provides electrical power from the battery pack to the device.
[00048] In an embodiment, a timer can measure an initial time at which a heating element has to be turned ON and limit the amount of time that electricity is being delivered to the device. The method further includes heating the water in the lower tank, and measuring a volume of heated water remaining in the lower tank.
[00049] In an embodiment, management of temperature can be done using a voice command from the user which is a contactless way of managing the temperature. A microcontroller can be provided in the device with a voice module in which programming can be done with help of Alexa API. The device can act and perform its functions on receiving a voice command of the use and thereby increase/decrease the temperature of the device for preparation of the beverage.
[00050] In an embodiment, the device can on receiving the instructions from the user provide and add required quantity of ingredients for preparations of the beverage to the lower tank. This may facilitate to achieve taste customizations and avoid wastage of ingredients used in preparation of the beverage.
[00051] Embodiments of the portable beverage preparing device provide advantages in allowing the user to make a hot beverage, such as but not limited to coffee and tea for example, at any location at any time. Embodiments of the portable beverage preparing device may further provide a hand held portable hot beverage maker is presented which can brew hot beverages. Embodiments of the portable beverage preparing device may further provide for adding components for the beverage within the device spontaneously, and the amount of those can be controlled by the user. Embodiments of the portable beverage preparing device described herein are easy to use, portable, cost effective and compact. The device is small and light enough to be carried anywhere by a single user or in some type of carrying device. Embodiments provided herein provide advantages in allowing easy and effective brewing of beverage on the go thereby saving the user time, money and energy without inconveniencing the user.
[00052] As used herein, and unless the context dictates otherwise, the term "coupled to" is intended to include both direct coupling (in which two elements that are coupled to each other contact each other) and indirect coupling (in which at least one additional element is located between the two elements). Therefore, the terms "coupled to" and "coupled with" are used synonymously. Within the context of this document terms "coupled to" and "coupled with" are also used euphemistically to mean “communicatively coupled with” over a network, where two or more devices are able to exchange data with each other over the network, possibly via one or more intermediary device.
[00053] While the foregoing describes various embodiments of the invention, other and further embodiments of the invention may be devised without departing from the basic scope thereof. The scope of the invention is determined by the claims that follow. The invention is not limited to the described embodiments, versions or examples, which are included to enable a person having ordinary skill in the art to make and use the invention when combined with information and knowledge available to the person having ordinary skill in the art.
