POSITION INDICATOR FOR MCC MODULE;
LARSEN & TOUBRO LIMITED, A COMPANY INCORPORATED UNDER THE COMPANIES ACT, 1956, WHOSE ADDRESS IS L&T HOUSE, 8ALLARD ESTATE, MUMBAI - 40Q 001, MAHARASHTRA, INDIA
THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATION
PARTICULARLY DESCRIBES THE INVENTION AND THE MANNER IN WHICH IT IS TO BE PERFORMED.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to a MCC Module, and more particularly to mechanism for indicating positions of a MCC Module.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
A MCC Module has three distinct positions i.e. service, test and isolation. A racking mechanism is used to move the MCC Module between these positions. When power contacts and auxiliary contacts both are engaged it is called as service position. When power contacts are engaged and auxiliary contacts are disengaged it called as test condition. When both contacts are disengaged it is called as isolation condition. Indication of relative position of module is important to avoid erroneous operation while moving MCC Module from one position to other.
As per one technique, where MCC Module is moved physically between positions using a racking mechanism a sticker marked as service, test and isolation at a particular distance provides indication of position of MCC Module. In this technique door of a MCC Module is open, and the sticker is visible.
However as per another technique, where module is not moved physically and door of MCC Module is closed, it is difficult to identify position of MCC Module.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Accordingly the present invention provides an indexing mechanism for indicating positions of a MCC Module comprising an indexing cam adapted on a mechanism shaft of the MCC Module; and an indexing lever, the indexing lever co-operable with the indexing cam to indicate a position of the MCC Module.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Various embodiments of the present invention provide a mechanism for indicating position of a MCC Module. The mechanism comprises an indexing cam adapted on a mechanism shaft of the MCC Module; and an indexing lever, the indexing lever co-operable with the indexing cam to indicate position of the MCC Module.
In an embodiment of the invention, a mechanism shaft is rotated, contacts of the MCC Module are engaged or disengaged to move MCC Module in different positions in door closed condition, and accordingly the mechanism of the present invention will indicate position of the MCC Module.
Figure 1 shows a mechanism 1000 for indicating position of a MCC Module in accordance with an embodiment of the invention. The mechanism comprises a bracket 100, an indexing cam 200, an indexing lever 300, a mechanism shaft 400, and an operating handle 500. Mechanism shaft 400 as shown in the figure is engaged with an operating handle 500 through bracket 100. Mechanism further comprises a guide support to support mechanism shaft 400. Further, as shown indexing cam 200 is adapted on a mechanism shaft 400, and indexing lever 300 co-operable with indexing cam 200 is adapted to bracket 100 to indicate position of MCC Module when mechanism shaft 400 is rotated.
Figure 2 shows bracket 100 in accordance with an embodiment of the invention. Bracket 100 comprises of a front plate 110 and a rear plate 120 extending outwardly. Front plate 110 supports operating handle 500 via a square aperture and rear plate 120 supports mechanism shaft 400 via a circular aperture. Bracket 100 further has a recess 130 to allow indexing lever 300 to be adapted.

Figure 3 shows indexing cam 200 in accordance with an embodiment of the invention. Indexing cam 200 has a first aperture 210 and a second aperture 220. First aperture 210 of indexing cam 200 engages with mechanism shaft 400, and second aperture 220 engages with indexing lever 300. Second aperture 220 of indexing cam 200 allows indexing lever 300 to move through different positions to convert rotational movement of mechanism shaft 400 into a vertical movement of indexing lever 300.
Figure 4 shows indexing lever 300 in accordance with an embodiment of the invention. Indexing lever 300 has a pin 310 through which it engages with indexing cam 200, and an engaging means 320 to adapt to bracket 100. Indexing lever 300 moves vertically when a mechanism shaft 400 is rotated along bracket 100.Further, indexing lever 300 has means 330 for indicating different positions i.e. service, test and isolation position of MCC Module.
In an embodiment of the invention, the mechanism is mounted near front door of MCC Module, wherein the indexing lever having a means to indicate different positions is visible from a glass window provided on the door.
Figure 5 through 7 shows mechanism for indicating position of a MCC Module in different positions.
In an embodiment of the invention figure 5 shows mechanism indicating isolation position of MCC Module, where indexing cam 200 is in position as shown in figure 5A, and indexing lever 300 is in position as shown in figure 5B to indicate isolation position.
In an embodiment of the invention figure 6 shows mechanism indicating test position, where when operating handle is rotated in clockwise direction, mechanism shaft rotates and power contacts gets racked in test position, and indexing cam 200 adapted to mechanism shaft rotates in clockwise direction and is in position as shown in figure 6A, and indexing lever 300

moves in vertically downward direction and is in position as shown in figure 6B to indicate test position.
In an embodiment of the invention figure 7 shows mechanism indicating service position, where when operating handle is rotated further in clockwise direction, mechanism shaft rotates and power contacts move from test position to service position, and indexing cam 200 adapted to mechanism shaft 400 rotates in clockwise direction and is in position as shown in figure 7A, and indexing lever 300 moves in vertical downward direction and is in position as shown in figure 7B to indicate service position.
In an embodiment of the invention, when an operating handle is rotated, the mechanism shaft is rotated and an indexing cam adapted to the mechanism shaft converts this rotational movement into a vertical movement of indexing lever to indicate position of a MCC Module.

WE CLAIM:
1. A mechanism for indicating positions of a MCC Module comprising:
a) an indexing cam adapted on a mechanism shaft of the MCC Module; and
b) an indexing lever, the indexing lever co-operable with the indexing cam to indicate a position of the MCC Module.

2. The mechanism as claimed in claim 1, wherein the indexing cam converts the rotational movement of mechanism shaft into a vertical movement of the indexing lever.
3. The mechanism as claimed in claim 1, wherein the mechanism shaft is rotated by an operating handle.
4. The mechanism as claimed in claim 1, wherein the indexing cam has a first aperture and a second aperture.
5. The mechanism as claimed in claim 4, wherein the first aperture of the indexing cam engages with the mechanism shaft.
6. The mechanism as claimed in claim 4, wherein the second aperture of the indexing cam engages the indexing lever.
7. The mechanism as claimed in claim 1, wherein the indexing lever has means for indicating operating positions of the MCC Module.

8. The mechanism as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a bracket, the bracket has:
a) a front plate for supporting a handle assembly and
b) a rear plate for supporting a mechanism shaft, and the rear plate having a recess to allow an indexing lever to be adapted to the bracket.
