Position-Lock and Padlock Mechanism For Motor Control Centre Draw-Out Module
Field of the invention
The present invention relates to a locking mechanism for Motor Control Centre (MCC) draw-out module, and more particularly, to a position-lock and a padlock mechanism for stopping the MCC draw-out module at positions, such as isolated, test and service position.
Background of the invention
Generally, draw-out Motor Control Centre (hereinafter 'MCC') module has three distinct positions for performing operations, for example, isolated, test and service. In isolated condition, auxiliary contacts and power contacts in the MCC draw-out module are disengaged. In test condition, only auxiliary contacts are engaged, while in service condition, both auxiliary and power contacts are engaged. For intentionally stopping the MCC draw-out module at isolated, test and service positions, the position lock arrangement is used. However, position lock of the MCC module can be unlocked by lifting the position lock lever, and in the current position locking system of the MCC draw-out module, there is no provision of putting a physical lock when the MCC module is at isolated, test and service positions.
Accordingly, there exists a need for a position-lock and padlock mechanism which overcomes the drawbacks on the above-mentioned prior art.

Objects of the invention
An object of the present invention is to provide a position-lock and padlock mechanism for MCC draw-out module, which intentionally stops MCC module at isolated, test and service position.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a position-lock and padlock mechanism for MCC draw-out module in which, an operator is able to put physical lock thereon.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a position-lock and padlock mechanism for MCC draw-out module, which is simple and compact.
Summary of the invention
The present invention provides a position-lock and padlock mechanism for stopping a Motor Control Centre (MCC) draw-out module at any one of an isolated, test and service position, the MCC draw-out module comprising a tray having a plurality of slots configured thereon, the mechanism comprising:
at least one lever pivoted to a guiding channel of the MCC draw-out module, the lever having,
a first projection for lifting the lever,
a second projection for coupling to a spring,
a third projection being capable of removably engaging at least one slot of the plurality of slots of the MCC draw-out module thereby keeping the MCC draw-out module at any one of the isolated, test and service position, and
a first slot capable of receiving a physical lock therein; and at least one padlock lever attached securely to the guiding channel, the padlock lever having a second slot thereon capable of receiving the physical lock therein,

wherein, upon positioning the MCC draw-out module at any one of the isolated, test and service position, the first slot of the lever and the second slot of the padlock lever align together allowing to put the physical lock therein thereby restricting further movement of the MCC draw-out module.

Detailed description of the present invention
The foregoing objects of the invention are accomplished and the problems and shortcomings associated with the prior art techniques and approaches are

overcome by the present invention as described below in the preferred
embodiment.
Accordingly, the present invention provides a position-lock and padlock mechanism for MCC draw-out module at isolated, test and service positions. The position-lock and padlock mechanism allows an operator to put a physical lock on the MCC draw-out module. Further, the mechanism is simple and compact.
The present invention is illustrated with reference to the accompanying drawings, throughout which reference numbers indicate corresponding parts in the figure. These reference numbers are shown in bracket in the following description.
Referring now to figure 1 to 6, there is shown a position-lock and padlock mechanism (100) (hereinafter 'the mechanism (100)') for a stopping a Motor Control Centre (MCC) draw-out module (200) at any one of an isolated, test and service position, in accordance with the present invention.
The MCC draw-out module (200) includes a tray (110) having a plurality of recess (120) configured thereon. Further, the MCC draw-out module (200) includes guiding channels (130) secured on the side plate (140) for movement of the MCC draw-out module (200) in and out of a panel.
The mechanism (100) includes at least one lever (10) (position-lock lever) pivoted to a guiding channel (130) of the MCC draw-out module (20). The lever (10) includes a first projection (12), the second projection (14), a third projection (16) and a first slot (18) as shown in figure 1. In an embodiment, the lever (10) is assembled on the left hand side C-channel of the MCC draw-out module (200).

The first projection (12) enables lifting the lever (10). Further, the second projection (14) enables coupling of the lever (10) to a spring (30). Specifically, the spring (30) is coupled to the second projection (14) of the lever (10) prior to pivoting of the lever to the guiding channel(130).
Furthermore, the third projection (16) is capable of removably engaging at least one recess of the plurality of recess (120) of the MCC draw-out module (200). In a preferred embodiment, the plurality of recess (120) includes a first recess (122), a second recess (124) and a third recess (126).
When the third projection (16) engages the first recess (122), the MCC draw-out module (200) achieves the isolated position as shown in figure 3.
Further, when the third projection (16) engages the second recess (124) of the, the MCC draw-out module (200) achieves the test position as shown in figure 4.
Furthermore, when the third projection (16) engages the third recess (126), the MCC draw-out module (200) achieves the service position as shown in figure 5.
The lever (10) may be lifted manually by means of first projection (12) and thereafter the third projection (16) may be engaged with either of the first recess (122), the second recess (124) and the third recess (126) for intentionally stopping the MCC draw-out module (200) at any one of the isolated, test and service positions.
The first slot (180) of the lever (10) is capable of receiving a physical lock therein.
The mechanism (200) further includes at least one padlock lever (20) as shown in figure 2. The padlock lever (20) is attached securely to the guiding channel (130). In an embodiment, the padlock lever (20) is welded to the left side

guiding channel (130). The padlock lever (20) includes a second slot (22) for receiving the physical lock therein.
In an operation, upon positioning the MCC draw-out module (200) at any one of the isolated, test and service position by engaging the third projection (16) with any one of the first recess (122), the second recess (124) and the third recess (126), the first slot (18) of the lever (10) and the second slot (22) of the padlock lever (20) aligns together to form a single slot which allows putting the physical lock therein. Inserting the physical lock in the first slot (18) and the second slot (22) thus restricts further movement of the MCC draw-out module (200) from any of the isolated, test and service positions as shown in figure 6.
Advantages of the invention
1. The mechanism (100) provides integrated padlocking arrangement, wherein
once the physical lock is inserted, the movement of the MCC draw-out module
is restricted.
2. The mechanism (100) includes the position lock lever which is totally spring
operated and not gravity dependent, which makes the operation of the position
lock mechanism independent of gravity.
The foregoing descriptions of specific embodiments of the present invention have been presented for purposes of illustration and description. They are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the present invention to the precise forms disclosed, and obviously many modifications and variations are possible in light of the above teaching. The embodiments were chosen and described in order to best explain the principles of the present invention and its practical application, to thereby enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the present invention and various embodiments with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated. Jt is understood that various omission and substitutions of

equivalents are contemplated as circumstance may suggest or render expedient, but such are intended to cover the application or implementation without departing from the spirit or scope of the present invention.

We Claim:
1. A position-lock and padlock mechanism for stopping a Motor Control Centre (MCC) draw-out module at any one of an isolated, test and service position, the MCC draw-out module comprising a tray having a plurality of slots configured thereon, the mechanism comprising:
