THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATION DESCRIBES THE NATURE OF THE INVENTION AND MANNER IN WHICH IT IS TO BE PERFORMED

FIELD OF INVENTION:-
The present invention is related to locking device for vehicle panel mounted locks. More particularly the present invention is related to locking clip for positively locking the vehicle panel.
BACKGROUND & PRIOR ART:-
There is variety of ways to mount the barrel locks to the panel of the opening or like. Different types of securing devices are used to secure the lock shell within the mounting hole and to secure the front face of the lock against the front surface of the panel one of the methods of securing the lock shell is securing to the mounting hole by means of a threaded nut which may be received on threads on the exterior of the lock shell. These nuts have the advantage of being able to securely hold the shell in place but at the. same time manipulation of a nut over a lock shell can be very inconvenient in difficult to reach situations. Also the quick removal of such nut to allow for changing of the lock is not possible.
Use of lock clip is comparatively convenient than the use of nut since the lock clip can easily be slide in and out of the engagement with the lock shell once the shell is in place on the panel. Also it does not require any translation axially along the lock shell as is required in case of nut.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:-
The main object of the present invention is to provide a lock barrel restraining clip for use in automotive locking.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a lock barrel restraining clip having a notch for positive locking.
Accordingly invention provides a positive lock barrel clip for locking system of automotive vehicles comprises of two downward extending legs, partly flat

portion and partly curved upward portion, from the base plate having a rectangular slot at the center and projected notch on either of the said legs.
DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES:-
Figure 1 shows the isometric view of lock barrel clip in accordance with the present invention.
Figures 2A, 2B and 2C show the side of side view (cut section) of the lock barrel clip;
Figure 3 shows use of the invented holding clip for securely fixing of lock barrel to auto door lock;
Figure 4 shows fixing the lock barrel auto door lock using prior art holding clip;
Figure 5 shows fixing the lock barrel to auto door using invented holding clip.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:-
Referring to figure 3 illustrates the use of the lock barrel clip, according to invention, for barrel lock to auto door locking system.
The figure 4 illustrates the auto door locking system with use of prior art lock barrel clip. In the prior art auto locking system the lock barrel can be removed by inserting a screw driver in lock barrel and shacking it for while. There by the holding barrel lock clip get slipped and lock barrel comes out. There by opening of auto door possible and theft of vehicle is possible as duplicate key may be prepared from removed lock barrel.
The invention provides a lock barrel clip as shown in figures 1, 2A, 2B and 2C. The lock barrel is inserted from out side into the hole on panel and held by the clip inserted from inside against two or more vertical ribs provided over the barrel body.

Referring to Figure 1, lock barrel clip 1 comprises of two downward extending legs, base plate,a rectangular slot at the center and project notch on either of the legs of the barrel clip. The legs of the barrel clip are attached to the base plate permanently and each of the leg includes a curved portion and flat portion. The projected notches provided on the legs provide the positive locking of the door. The projected notch can be on any shape like triangular, square and rectangular. The triangular shape of projected notch as shown in figure is the most optimized and preferred sha.pe to achieve the positive locking. The projected notch can be anywhere on the leg of the clip that is on the inner edge or on the outer edge of the leg. Also the projected notch can be anywhere throughout the length of the clip leg. The angle of projection (a) with the horizontal is in between 20 to 45 degrees. However, it gives best results of positive locking at the projection angle of 40 to 45 degrees. As shown in Figure 2, the height of the notch from the base (a) of the lock barrel clip is 1.02 to 1.35 times the height of leg (h) frorn the base of the lock barrel clip. The legs of the barrel clip frictionally engage flats on the lock shells or are received within the grooves on the lock shell adapted for the purpose. The curved portion of the barrel clip includes an apex which is disposed beneath or is eccentrically offset from the longitudinal center line of the lock shell when the lock clip is in its lock securing position. Because of the special feature of this lock clip that is triangular projected notch, positive locking of the system is achieved and stability and security of the locking system is enhanced. The barrel clip is simple in design and quite convenient to use.
The notch added to the clip worked as a positive locking with the lock barrel body. The clip will go inside without any special tool but required pressing the said notch from the inside using a screw driver to remove the lock barrel.
Thus the lock barrel can not be removed from inserting screw driver and shacking a while.

WE CLAIM:-
1. A positive lock barrel clip for locking system of automotive vehicles comprises of two downward extending legs, partly flat portion and partly curved upward portion, from the base plate having a rectangular slot at the center and projected notch on either of the said legs.
2. A positive lock barrel clip as claimed in claim 1 wherein the said projected notch is triangular, square and rectangular in shape.
3. A positive lock barrel clip as claimed in claim 2 wherein the triangular shape of projected notch the most optimized and preferred shape to achieve the positive locking.
4. A positive lock barrel clip as claimed in claims 1 and 3 wherein the said height of the notch from the base 1.02 to 1.35 times height of the clip leg from the base.
5. A positive lock barrel clip as claimed in claims 1 to 4 wherein the said notch is formed such away that the said notch makes an angle 20 to 45 degrees withthe base.
6. A positive lock barrel clip as claimed in claim 5 wherein the said notch makes angle 40 to 45 degrees preferably.
7. A positive lock barrel clip as claimed in claims 1 to 6 wherein the said projected notch provided any where throughout the length of the said leg of the clip either at inner edge or at outer edge.
