Abstract: The purpose of the present invention is to provide a power conversion device that converts electric power by means of two arm pulse width modulation (PWM) control and that is versatile in that power factor restrictions are relaxed and in that the potential of the power conversion device can be effectively utilized independently of the power factor. This power conversion device converts three phase alternating current power into direct current power by means of two arm PWM control and is equipped with a main circuit (1) that comprises multiple switching components that are bridge connected a voltage command generation unit (2) that generates voltage command values for the main circuit (1) a current detection unit (3) that detects at least one output current of the main circuit (1) a power factor calculation unit (4) that calculates a power factor on the basis of the output currents and the voltage command values a carrier signal generation unit (5) that generates a carrier signal having a frequency corresponding to the power factor and a PWM signal generation unit (6) that compares the voltage command values with the carrier signal and generates PWM signals for controlling the switching of the switching components.
