Pressing Ring, Pipe Joint, And Method For Joining Pipes

Abstract: A pressing ring 20 provided to a pipe joint 1 in which a sealing member 15 is inserted between the outer periphery of a spigot 3 and the inner periphery of a socket 5, the pressing ring 20 being externally fitted on the spigot 3 so as to face an opening end surface 21 of the socket 5 from the outer side and being connected to the socket 5 by a plurality of fasteners 22, 23 to push the sealing member 15 toward a deeper side of the socket 5. The pressing ring 20 has a pressing surface 36 that presses the sealing member 15, a plurality of fastener insertion holes 37 through which the fasteners 22 are inserted, a contact portion 38 that is brought into contact with the opening end surface 21 of the socket 5, and a tapered surface 47 formed on an inner periphery 41. The tapered surface 47 has the diameter expanded from a side closer to the pressing surface 36 to the opposite side farther away therefrom.
