DESC:COMPLETE SPECIFICATION
(SECTION 10 AND RULE 13)
TITLE: “PRESSURE COOKER”
A P P L I C A N T
We, TTK PRESTIGE LIMITED, an Indian company incorporated under Companies Act of 1956, having its principal place of business at 11th floor, Brigade Towers,No.135, Brigade Road, Bangalore - 560 025, State of Karnataka, India.

The following specification describes the nature of this invention:-

FIELD OF INVENTION

This invention relates to handles and particularly to a handle designed for use with cooking utensils, such as pressure cooker and the like and the general object of the invention is to provide a very simple device of this character embodying a handle adapted to fit onto a pressure cooker in the form of an extension thereof, and having means whereby it may be detachably engaged with the pressure cooker.

PRIOR ART

The art of pressure cooker is old and well worked. Various modes of detachable handles for pressure cooker are known. The double side knob operable handle would have significant appeal and would be very beneficial to users.

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

It will be seen that the device is very simple, that it is relatively simple to manufacture and is cheap. The double side handle is operable with a knob which also reduces the space taken by the pressure cooker. The object of the invention is to improve the pressure cooker and particularly by use of simple lockable handle means for grasping pressure cookers. The other object of the invention is to prevent free flow of forth on the lid outwardly.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

This pressure cooker can be used on a Gas Stove/Hot Plate/Halogen/Ceramic or Induction heat source. The Body and lid are designed in such a way that the Lid can be fitted to the body in a particular position only with the guidance of the specially designed body handles and the lid handle and the lugs.

The open and close function of the cooker is carried out by the turn of the knob which makes the lid to turn by minimum angle. In closed condition, a lock mechanism is provided in such a way that the cooker cannot be opened when there is pressure inside. The lid assembly is locking/mounting with body in a particular direction with the reference of body handle, once the lid handle locks/mounted with body handle, then start rotate the knob to designed angle to engage with body lug and lid. The lid is shaped specially to contain the frothing liquid from flowing down the lid.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The invention provides a pressure cooker having a double side handle construction such that pressure cooker can be held by gripping the handles from opposite sides of the pressure cooker. One of the embodiments is described below.

The invention also relates to safety devices and primarily seeks to provide a novel handle lock mountable on pressure cookers commonly used in homes. It is the purpose of the present invention to provide means, readily mountable upon pressure cookers of the character stated which will make it impossible to move the handles relatively for the purpose of effecting a separation of the body and the cover without the popup lock dropping downwards.

With the above and other objects in view that will hereinafter appear, the nature of the invention will be more clearly understood by reference to the following detailed description, and several views illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

There are many Pressure Cookers operated with Gas Stove/Hot Plate/Halogen/Ceramic or Induction, but none of them have the features of the present invention especially with a built-in safety with Lid.

The parts of the Turn on Pressure Cooker is shown below:

The Turn on Pressure Cooker consists of total 30 parts with built-in safety device for release of excess pressure.

The figure 2.0 illustrates the condition of both Lid and Body in closed position. Turn on Pressure Cooker comes in different volumes depending on the size of the cooker.

In the figure 3.0 there is a complete structural view showing an embodiment of the present invention. A Turn on Pressure Cooker comprises features, as shown in the figure 3.0 & 4.0.

The Body is fitted with two side handles, having guides to locate the Lid Handles. The Lid handle and knob are fitted with the Lid through center stud and nut arrangement. The knob has got a Cam profile which aligns with the two studs provided in the lid by which the rotation of the knob makes the Lid to turn but the lid handle is in the same position.

A pressure cooker as per this invention has a locking device for locking the lid relative to the body of the pressure cooker. The locking device is moveable in a radial direction and mounted on the lid. The locking device which is a knob type arrangement is designed with a cam type arrangement as a rotary abutment means which aligns with the two studs provided in the lid of the cooker to lock the pressure cooker. The locking device for locking the lid relative to the body is mounted to move on the cooker into lock state such that it closes the cooker when the lid handle is positioned with respect to body handle aligning the guides formed on the lid and body handles, thereby enabling the cooker to be locked after the alignment of the lid and body handles. Thereafter the relative movement of the body and lid is prevented when the locking device is in locked condition in its first state. The locking device is further aligned underneath the hole formed in the lid handle. As the pressure inside the body builds up the locking device pops up and gets engaged with the hole in the lid, which is the lock state thereby preventing lid from opening away from the body. As the pressure inside the body drops, the locking device drops downwards from the hole in the lid which then releases and allows the relative motion of lid handle with respect to body handle.

The Lid Assembly consists of the Gasket and Weight valve and Three Alu. Studs, and the Lid handle

To close the cooker, the lid handle has to be located with the Body handles aligning the Guides provided in Lid and Body handles. After locating the lid with body, the knob has to be turned and the lid will turn to engage the Lugs of the Lid and the Lugs of the body aligned one over the other. The markings on the lid will indicate whether the cooker is closed or in open position. Once the lid if fully closed, the Locking device will get aligned itself just under the hole provided in the lid handle so that when the cooker builds pressure, the Lock pops up due to steam pressure and engage with the hole in the lid, thus preventing the lid from opening. Only when the pressure inside the cooker drops close to zero, the lock drops down allowing the cooker lid to be opened.

All of the pressure cookers parts herein described are of conventional form and in themselves form no part of the present invention. It will apparent that so long as the lock is popup state, it will prevent relative movement of the said handles so as to make it impossible to separate lid from the body. Thus it is impossible to open the cooker until the lock is dropped down and steam pressure is released from the interior of the cooker.

The handle portion may be formed of any material which is poor conductor of heat.

The lid is also so designed to collect the froth on itself. The applicant has designed, tested and embodied the present invention to prevent the shortcomings of the state of art i.e., free flow of forth on the lid. In cooking, the user is often confronted with the need to clean the lid surface to remove the leaked froth on its surface. In this invention, the flow of froth is intentionally facilitated, and contained in a specific portion and prevent the free flow of froth to trickle or gravitate across the surface of the lid. This arrangement will be understood from the drawings which represents the arrangement.

The locking of lid and body is also further assisted using a number of lugs as locking means.

DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS :

B Lid assembly
C Body assembly
D Body
E Lid
F Assembly of the safety device with lid assembly
G SSD (secondary safety device cum visual pressure indicator) with safety lock

The advantageous features of the inventions are :

1. Open close of the lid with the Body is achieved by a simple cost effective mechanism with adequate safety, by the turn of the knob designed for this purpose.
2. The Lid can only be opened and closed in a particular position where the Lid handle is located and aligned with the body handle and in no other position, the lid can be closed with the body. This is achieved by designing the lugs with varying width.
3. The lid can be opened from the close position by minimum turning. This is made possible by providing 10 lugs in the cooker as against 6 to eight lugs usually available in the cookers presently available.
4. The Cooker is fitted with a silicone resettable safety device( Diaphragm type) which also acts as a pressure indicator. When the cooker starts building up pressure inside, the Pressure indicator rises indicating the pressure inside the cooker.

5. The Lid of the cooker is shaped in such a way that the frothing which is generally associated with the Whistling weight valve does not drip down the lid and is held within the special contour provided in the lid. Due to the surface heat of the lid, the frothing liquid evaporates thus eliminates further dripping.

The applicant relies on the provisional specification and drawings submitted in this application.

While one embodiment/form of the invention has been shown for purposes of illustrations, it is to be clearly understood that various changes in the detailed of construction and arrangement of parts may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. ,CLAIMS:WE CLAIM :
