Specification

FIELD OF INVENTION
The invention relates to a pressure cooker with a locking means to prevent accidents which occur due to opening of pressure cooker prior to releasing of pressure within.

BACKGROUND
The pressure cooker is a popular household device due to its short cooking time and its versatility to cook many dishes and products. The applicant is aware of many prior art some of which is listed below In all of these prior art, either there is a need for power, or complicated mechanical arrangement, or arrangements which allow tampering of components, thereby suffering one or other disadvantages in actual usage.

OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The main object is to provide a domestic pressure cooking device which can overcome the various sufferings mentioned above and which ensures excellent overall safety in use.

Another object of the invention is to propose a novel domestic cooking device which is particularly a simple design.

Another object of the invention is to propose a novel domestic pressure cooking device which prevents the removal of lid by an user when the pressure inside is high, by mere mechanical arrangement.

Another object of the invention is to propose a novel domestic pressure cooking device and which needs no external power source for operation.

It is another object of the present invention that the mechanical interlocking arrangement also serves another purpose that is a visual pressure indicator to the user, thereby making the system very reliable and relatively incapable of being fouled, excepting mischief attempt.

It is another object of the present invention to provide a novel pressure cooker which gives a safety of operation to a degree not hereto before fare realized in the art.

DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
In contrast to the foregoing disclosure of prior art, the present invention provides a simple and positive locking mechanism which provides reliable operation and safe operation under all conditions, including adverse operational condition, when the user is mindlessly operating the device.

In the description this locking means is referred to otherwise as multifunctional safety device as per the norm in the industry i.e. MFSD.

The present invention relates to a multi functional safety device for outer lid pressure cooker, it acts such as an auto cooker. It cannot allow the user to open the cooker underpressure.

This device is applicable to pressure-cooking appliances comprising a vessel on which the MFSD is aligned and fixed with a pin on the lid handle as shown in the figure 1.0.

The merits of the parts illustrated in fig.1

The lid has a opening where the MFSD pin which is located and fixed with the washer.

The lid handle is mounted to the lid by CSK screws, And cap fixed with valve stem and lid hojds the lid handle from twisting and loosening.

The MFSD pivots in the lid handle under the Minimum pressure condition if the MSFD Rotates and seals in the lid and the MFSD foot which engages beneath on the slot opening of lid to lock the body lug which prevents from opening.

The figure 2.0 illustrates the non sealing condition of MFSD . WORKING PRINCIPLE :
The MFSD performs various functions to ensure safety and functions of the pressure cooker,

The lid and MFSD are each fitted with a handle. In order to lock the lid in position, the lid handle is rotated until it comes into position directly above the vessel handle.

The primary function of the MFSD is to seal the lid under minimum pressure condition as shown in the figure 1.0 , during the sealing condition the MFSD raises up and the top pin is visible this will acts as visual pressure indicator, The secondary function of the MFSD is the bottom foot will lock the body of the pressure vessel and allowing not to open the lid under pressure condition.

During the pressure drop condition the MFSD swings to down condition and the foot of the MFSD swings back and unlocks the lid with body of pressure vessel.

This cooking appliance is equipped in addition with a safety device , the Quick release system is also present in this as the MFSD top pin can be pressed with a spoon in pressure condition as the pressure steam is released.

The invention step of the subject matter is:-
1. MFSD is a device which locks the cooker under the pressure and does not allow the cooker to open in pressure condition.

2. MFSD can be used as the Visual pressure indicator , as the pin will be raised in pressurized condition and pin will be dropped in the non pressurized condition.

3. MFSD can be used for Quick release system , as the pressure can be released by pressing with the spoon for quick release of the excess steam.

4. MFSD has no springs parts for locking and un locking the pressure cooker / vessel.

5. MFSD is the self balancing device for locking and unlocking the pressure cooker / vessel.

When the cooker operates, the inner pressure inside the cooker pushes the lock stem member upwards, which in said extended position, through the pin means, ensures the foot member is engaged with lugs on the lid, thereby lid handle is locked when the cooker is under pressure. The device is thereby very easy to use but simultaneously very safe. (Refer Fig.1 & Fig.2)

The arrangement is such that the locking means is substantially very safe for all users, including incautious users, as the mechanical arrangements and operations are very simple. Even users who are not familiar with pressure cookers can safely operate this novel pressure cooker.

In the presently preferred embodiment, the invention provides a pressure cooker having a body and a lid which is closeable against the body to form an interior for pressure cooking comprising of a lid having a lid handle and a body having a body handle. The body has a plurality of body lugs spaced around the periphery of said body for rotational engagement and disengagement with lid lugs also spaced around the periphery of said lid for holding said lid on said body when said lid is rotated into a closed position with respect to said body, and for removing said lid from said body when said lid is rotated into an open position. A safety locking means slidably mounted and supported through openings in the said lid and said lid handle to move freely through the lid and lid handle between a high pressure leak proof position (1) and a low pressure leakage position (2) depending on the pressure that exists within the closed pressure cooker for preventing removing of said lid from said body when said lid is attempted to be rotated into an open position when high pressure condition exists within the closed pressure cooker. The said locking means characterized in having a stem member, a seal member and a foot member operably coupled with a pin member such that said stem member is moveable over a range of travel between a high pressure position (1) when the said sealing member is engagingly seating over and around the said opening on the inner surface of the lid and a low pressure position (2) when sealing member disengagingly hanging below the opening and away from the lid; and further through the pin member, on the basis of travel of stem member, the foot member is correspondingly moveable over a range of travel between an interlocked position (1a) when the foot is in interlocking relationship with a slot on the lid, thereby preventing rotation of lid into an open position, and refracted position (2a) when the foot is in non-interlocking relationship with the said slot on the lid thereby allowing the rotation of lid into ah open position.

In another embodiment, the invention discloses stem member that is pressure based member, whereby the stem member rises with rising pressure in the closed pressure cooker.
In another embodiment, the locking means is also a pressure indicator means at it is visible externally in its high pressure position (1) which is referred as popup condition and low pressure position (2) which is referred pop down condition thereby indicative of level of actual pressure within the closed pressure cooker.

In another embodiment, the stem member is movable from high pressure position (1) to low pressure position (2) manually for quick pressure release, by pressing down the stem member at its top end which is visible and accessible externally.

With these arrangements, there is ho opportunity for the user to run risk of injury as a consequence of premature opening of a pressure cooker lid. For these and other good reasons the inventors have taken effort to incorporate a novel safety locking means in pressure cookers, which lessens the possibility of injury to the user substantially, and so also providing safety to bystanders or the surrounding environs as well.

The other essential features of the invention is that the components are essentially concealed to an extent that they cannot be reached easily for tampering. The structural arrangement also is both convenient and economical to manufacture and also to assemble.

From the aforesaid description and accompanying drawings, it will be appreciated that all of the recited objects, advantages and features of the invention above have been demonstrated as obtainable in a highly safe and satisfactory manner.

The invention relates to a lid cover of a pressure cooking device. This arrangement can be used in combination with various pressure cooking devices irrespective of its shape, configuration and size.

The invention has been described with reference to few preferred embodiments. All of: the changes and modifications that are conceivable to expert in the art are within the scope of the invention.
