Printing In Gravure Printing Unit

Abstract: A method of printing in a gravure printing unit (100) is described. The method may include a step of printing a plurality of marks (302) in a designated area on a printing substrate (102). In addition, the method may also include a step of printing a gray balance assessment strip (300) in a portion surrounding the plurality of marks (302). In an implementation, the gray balance assessment strip (300) may be formed by printing a plurality of type I regions and a plurality of type II region in such a way the type II region may be printed in between two consecutive type I regions. In an example, the tone of colour to be printed on the printing substrate (102) may be adjusted based on the tone of type I region and the type II region. <>

Specification

Claims:1. A method in a gravure printing unit, the method comprising:
printing a plurality of marks in a predefined shape in a designated area on a printing substrate, each mark having a distinct color, wherein a sequence of the plurality of marks is indicative of a sequence of color for printing content on the printing substrate; and
printing a gray balance assessment strip in a portion surrounding the plurality of marks in the designated area.
2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein printing the gray balance assessment strip comprises of creating a plurality of type I regions and a plurality of type II regions, each of the plurality of type II regions being printed in between two consecutive type I regions, wherein each of the plurality of type I region is formed of a tone of cyan, magenta, and yellow color and each of the plurality of type II regions is formed of a tone of black color.
3. The method as claimed in claim 2, wherein creating the plurality of type I region comprises printing one of cyan, magenta, and yellow color of a first predetermined tone in one of the plurality of marks and simultaneously printing one of the cyan, magenta, and yellow color of second predetermined tone in the portion surrounding the plurality of marks.
4. The method as claimed in claim 2, wherein creating the plurality of type II region comprises printing black colour of predetermined tone.
5. The method as claimed in claim 2, the method further comprising comparing the tone of the ink in the plurality of type I regions and the plurality type II regions to adjust the tone of the colour for printing the content.
6. The method as claimed in claim 2, the method further comprising:
measuring the tone of the plurality of marks using a spectrophotometer; and
adjusting the tone of the colour for printing the content based on the measured tone of the plurality of marks.
7. A gravure printing unit (100) comprising:
a plurality of printing cylinder (104), each of the plurality of roller being rotatable about its longitudinal axis, wherein each of the plurality of roller is to:
print a mark (302), from amongst a plurality of marks (302), in a predefined shape in a designated area on a printing substrate (102), each of the plurality of marks (302) having a distinct colour, wherein a sequence of the plurality of marks (302) is indicative of a sequence of colour for printing content on the printing substrate (102); and
print a gray balance assessment strip (300) in a portion surrounding the plurality of marks (302) in the designated area.
8. The gravure printing unit (100) as claimed in claim 7, wherein printing the gray balance assessment strip (300) comprise creating a plurality of type I regions and a plurality of type II regions, each of the plurality of type II regions being printed in between two consecutive type I regions, wherein each of the plurality of type I region is formed of a tone of cyan, magenta, and yellow colour and each of the plurality of type II regions is formed of a tone of black colour.
9. The gravure printing unit (100) as claimed in claim 8, wherein creating the plurality of type I region comprises printing one of cyan, magenta, and yellow colour of a first predetermined tone in one of the plurality of marks (302) and simultaneously one of cyan, magenta, and yellow colour of second predetermined tone in the portion surrounding the plurality of marks (302).
10. The gravure printing unit (100) as claimed in claim 8, wherein creating the plurality of type II region comprises printing black colour of predetermined tone.
11. The gravure printing unit (100) as claimed in claim 7, wherein each of plurality of roller comprises:
a region (204) on a circumferential surface (202) of the printing cylinder (104) to print a mark (302), from amongst a plurality of marks (302) in a predefined shape in a designated area on a printing substrate (102), each mark (302) having a distinct colour, wherein the region (204) has a first predetermined degree of etching to print the ink of a first predetermined tone; and
a portion (206) on the circumferential surface (202) surrounding the first region (204), wherein the portion (206) has a second predetermined degree of etching to print the ink of a second predetermined tone in the designated area.
