Process For Preparation Of A Coated Oral Controlled Release Pharmaceutical Composition For Once A Day Therapy For Treatment And Prophylaxis Of Cardiac And Circulatory Diseases
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a coated oral controlled release pharmaceutical composition for once-a-day therapy for the treament and prophylaxis of cardiac and circulatory diseases comprising mixing carvedilol or its pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester and pharmaceutically acceptable excipient and converting the mixture into cores by convetional means and coating the cores with at least one relase rate controlling excipient whereby the coated oral pharmaceutical composition relases the carvedilol in a controlled manner so as to provide control over carvedilol plasma levels such that the ratio of peak plasma levels to plasma levels at 24 hours after administration, and the mean residence time of carvedilol are within a desirable range for said once-a-day therapy for the treatment and prophylaxis of cardiac and circulatory diseases.
