Process For Preparation Of Cilastatin Sodium
Abstract: The present invention relates to the process for preparation, isolation and purification of Cilastatin acid of formula -I or its pharmaceutically accepted salt by treating 7-chloro-2-[[(1S)-2,2'-di-methylcyclopropane] carboxamide]-2-heptanoic acid of formula-Ill with L-cysteine hydrochloride in presence of base in alcoholic solvent to obtain Cilastatin acid of compound formula-I. Further the obtained formula-I treated with sodium source in alcoholic solvent to obtained sodium salt of formula-I. The present invention further relates to the process for preparation of Cilastatin acid intermediate of formula-VI.
