Process For The Extraction Of Solanesol From Burley Or Blue Cured Tobacco Leaves

Abstract: A process for isolation of Solanesol from Flue cured Tobacco leaf is disclosed. The process comprises extracting oleoresin containing 8 to 18% of Solaces from pulverized flue cured tobacco leaves, specification of the oleoresin, extracting of water immiscible components, crystallizing in methanol, complication and iterative crystallization to obtaining Solaces having purity greater than 90%.
