The aim of the present invention is to provide an improved industrial method of synthesis which enables the compounds of general formula mentioned above to be synthesised more easily, in a manner which is an improvement on the prior art. 2 BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 2-(3-benzoylphenyl) propanoic acid also named as ketoprofen (Figure - Ill) is a nonsterroidal anti-inflamatory drug (NSAID). The anti-inflammatory activity of ketoprofen is mainly due to its S-isomer. (R)-ketoprofen has poor activity along with its side effects. o 9^3 Figure- III So there is need for a practical industrial cost effective process for producing (S)-ketoprofen. Ketoprofen racemic mixture was resolved by using different resolving agents in various solvent mediums. Dexketoprofen trometamol, disclosed in EP 668851 and US 5,554,789, is an analgesic and anti-inflammatory drug characterized by advantageous pharmacokinetics and solubility properties with respect to Dexketoprofen or other salts thereof. The synthesis of Dexketoprofen salts were described in the literature using various methods as given below:- 1. The document US005852209A describes the process for synthesis of dexketoprofen by resolving racemic ketoprofen using (S)-3-methyl-2-phenylbutylamine as resolving agent. 2.
